Hey everyone, check out the description then leave a comment if you’d like! There’s a light build list in the video description and a couple links 🤙 Some of the clips have a bit of wind noise so I think I’ll get a wind reduction thing for some of the windier days, going forward. Cheers! 🫶🤩 See you in the next video!

Hope you like the video, will reply to the comments on Friday (NZT) as I’m off to sleep now 🥳 but enjoy! The aim was a fun commuter build, I think I’ll bump the chainring up to a 38t for more topspeed (after more testing) when I can get a blue Stridsland ring next time 😎🤌💙

@@toastyrides The Moloko bars are completely worth the investment! I wrapped the horns, a bit towards the grips, and towards the stem. I find that I spend most of my time in the horns. I think the 35° sweep feels more manageable than the 45° on the jones bar, or any alt bar for that matter. I'm keeping those till I die

I was super impressed with how you handled those TINY bearings! wow! I would have lost half of them. And you did it while wearing gloves! Great video, I enjoy watching people taking older machines and making them useful again. Thank you for sharing! I liked the riding footage too. I was impressed with the variety of non-automobile transport other people were using as well. Where I live 99.9% of people use automobiles and if the ride it's an exercise bike indoors.

They sucked 😂 I should have taken the gloves off, it definitely made it harder 😆 Thank you for watching! Oh woah, that’s cool to hear. Lately more people have been using bikes, e-scooters and e-bikes 👍 it’s great to see as it feels more community-like, in a way, when you’re travelling slow around the city and outside. Just one quick thing, make sure that fork has a cro-mo steer tube. when the 1-1/4 pepperoni forks came out as standard in 1992 on models M700 and above, the forks came with aluminum steer tubes which had failures and were recalled. I am guessing that's why the fork paint color doesn't match.

Nice! I worked on this same frame as a courier for years! Hey, get rid of the pepperoni death trap fork though, those were recalled because alloy forks are sketchy as hell and always fail. The headtube is 1 1/4, so you can easily put a 1 1/8 threadless headset and fork with a problem solvers adaptor. 🤙

That’s so cool! I think it’s just the aluminium steerer tube ones that were recalled? I could be wrong, though! I do want one of those adaptors, for an upcoming Gary Fisher project 😁 The 1 1/4 headtube is a bit strange, although I have the stock fork for it so will run it for now. Cheers!

Hey love the video. Where abouts you get the bracket with extra holes for where the basket supports connect to the fork @ 34:46?

Another awesome video! That driveside rear dropout looks sketchy as though. Is it supposed to look like that? I know these had a history of catastrophically failing and it seems bent and dimpled at the welds.

Thank you! Yeah that’s just how they are, I don’t really know why they did that extension/cantilever anyway but I know they had a reason. Just can’t remember why!

Hey Toastie! Do you think theres an absolute comfort improvement with going that wide on the tires? Fat bikes do seem to feel a little better but not much IMO (limited experience) and this is only a slight increase. thank you

I got a wide range 7 spd cassette from soma fab but the modern xt derailleur I had wouldn’t work with it because the cable arm hit the cogs.

How do you think the Hookworms would handle on looser dirt singletrack or rough gravel? very cool build :D

They would be loose offroad haha. Depends how skilled you are but they’re ok on some gravel, just need to be prepared for the slide on corners 😅🤙

Hey, I’m obsessed with your videos. Can you tell me the rim size you used for the bike? I would love a set of hookworms for my commuter. Thanks

Hey, thank you! I haven’t done it but I think they disassemble like the XT ones so should take a shim the same 🤙🫶

Hi mate, I have an old Rayleigh mountain bike from around year 2002. It's a great bike however the issue is one of the rear V brake callipers is not working very well. I undid the noodle and it works fine aka the spring but when I re put it back on it sticks ... would you know how to resolve it?

Is there an alternative to Velcro straps for your bags? I have several bike bags but I don't like how long it takes. I've almost thought about zip ties. Not sure what to do.
