I remember a kid in elementary school owned one of those, the one with the bendy part. He only took it to school one day and it seemed so cool then (must have been around 1995). He had a game with mice on it, can't say anything about it, I really don't remember anything else... Never even knew the name of the thing until now, it all seems like a lifetime ago!

I remember playing with one of these back in the early 90s. There was this curio shop in the mall at South Lake Tahoe. The owner sold all sorts of obscure game consoles & he allowed me to play with this one, hoping I'd buy it from him. While I thought it was interesting as a novelty, I couldn't really see myself ever playing it over my Game Boy. But I always wondered about it. Thanks for the video.

I had the grey one with the extendable feet. Parents couldn’t afford a game boy. But as a young kid I absolutely loved it. I only had a couple games. Can’t remember what I had aside from the block break. Which I played ALL the time.

There a fe minor mistakes in the video The link to the TV was done with the cartridge slot The TV add on then had another cartridge slot to use. The TV connection basically had another Supervision inside it without the controls. The controls on the Supervision is the only thing used otherwise the TV connection can work by itself (in theory). It is a rarity and will cost you several hundred dollars online. The second version of the Supervison was probably made to avoid copyright complaints from Nintendo. The bendable screen is for many the preferable way to play it when hold in hands since it gives a better view at the screen due to the angel. However I have been wondering if the blurry screen could be fix either by making better connection to the screen or by replacing the screen with for instance this console5.com/store/universal-3-5-composite-video-lcd-module-cable-320x240-resolution.html The later solution would of cause need to make modification to the shell as well.

Re: The leaking LCD on your travelmate. One of my Megaduck's has a similar thing going on. Does your leak randomly change shape and size? It seems like everytime I take it out of the cupboard its in a different spot!

They were basically giving them away in game shows and mail in rebates back in the day that's how bad they were. if Gameboy wasn't a thing and Sega's Gamegear wasn't a option it would of lasted a bit longer. the 90's had way to much game consoles flooding the market.

it uses a 6502, the most popular processor ever, too bad it's the CMOS version so no hardware trickery.. (just for reference, the Gameboy and Gamegear/Master system used a Zilog Z80)

not really, i kinda expected it to use this architecture but at the same time it amused me, the 6502 is very well known and understood because they used it in a lot of home computers in the 80's, the "C" basically means they used a different manufacturing procedure for the die of the chip, and because of that it lacks some hardware quirks that, if exploited correctly, could make your program "flow better" so to speak.. and the Z80 has some features ,like the capability to make basic 16Bit operations, that the 6502 does not have, but the same can be said of the 6502 (mainly the decimal operations core)... but still, the main presentation of consoes and compuers of the 80's and 90's is determined by the video processor, i whouldn't be suprised if it used a second 6502 just for driving the video.. Oh sorry for this poem that i wrote, i didn't meant to go this technical, i hope i haven't bored you XD

I owned the light grey Supervision. It was neat at first, but clearly a cheap knockoff of Gameboy. I think something was broken in the platformer. I think it was Dream World. My mother bought it thinking it was a real Gameboy, which I'm sure were a lot of the sales of that thing.

That was the reason for the redesign. The original design was as far as I know only released in countries with little to no copyrights laws such as Taiwan (where the Watara who made the original Supervision was from).
