I never saw any Crystar toys in the store when I was a kid, not one, but my neighbor had everything Crystar. I could swear he had a green dragon with a bow-legged dragon-rider Warbow with bandolero and crossbow.

I had about 6 of this figures and the dragon when i was a kid. It is good to see the complete collection for the first time in a video. They look great with the castle in the background.

You have the best Crystar collection I have seen! As a kid I had Crystar, Warbow, Moltar, and the small catapult set. Got them new for Xmas, never heard of them before, but merged them with my Tron figs. I have never seen either of those 2 large catapults in person, or the castle. Thanks for sharing!

I got the collection of figures one Christmas. I liked Crystar but the rest of the figures got little playtime. I'd grade this a C- as an 80s toyline. I remember them being sold at Benny's which was kind of an automotive slash mini department store.

Great rundown! I saw many items I wasn’t aware of. As I kid I had Crystar, Moltan Man, and the blue dragon. I was a little older by this time, maybe 11 or 12, so spent my own money on these from my local TG&Y. Since it was made in a Marvel comic, the 6-7” Marvel Legends current line of figures just opened pre-orders for a new Crystar figure which I ordered from Hasbro Pulse. I was perfectly satisfied that they didn’t include a free Prisma Crystal this time around. 😀

Regrettable, I knew, even back in 1983, that this toyline was more of a fit for my $10 a week allowance 😢. However, since no cartoon pushed it, kids like myself sought out Masters of the Universe and GI Joe ARAH 😮! Castle Greyskull felt so enchanted. Also, The Pit captured the renaissance of the modern American fighting army. Thank you for the video tour of the Saga of Crystar playset! I'll collect whatever I can afford now to make up for my mourning worship.😅

Had this as a kid in the 80s & purchased a mint on sealed card figure as an adult that I still have to this day! LOVED him as a kid! Never knew much of his origin prior to buying, but always loved translucent figures. I wished they remade him as a 7". I know a guy tried to remake him and Moltar called Working Class Villains/Backyard Legends yrs ago, but never completed his orders. Was very disappointed that he didn't complete. But hope maybe Ramen Toys picks up this line to redo! This line & Blackstar!

@@tydiriumhanger1320 They only completed their initial production run, but they didn't fulfill everyone's orders. They kept making promises to complete the remaining orders, but never did & stopped responding to everyone's messages on Facebook & ran with the money. 🤦🏾‍♂️ And it was sad because their Crystar was NICE & I've been waiting for a company to remake that character forever!

Yep, Glenn Danzig did take the skull design on the cover of Issue #8 and made it his own band's logo. Speaking of logos, at the 10:45 minute mark, the solid teal colored weapon on the far right of the rack is reminiscent to the "Tri-Ryche" --- the symbol/emblem used by Seattle hard rock band Queensryche. Their self-titled EP album was originally released in 1982, the same year as Crystar.

Very cool see-through figures, thanks Mike for covering Crystar, something that I unfortunately didn't find back as a kid in the early 80s. I had Tron back then I remember. The swords and shields, these remind me slightly of The Other World line of bendable figures and monsters which I had some of.

It seems in the US lots of vintage toys are still relatively easy to find with the country being so big, and lots of vintage toys existing in such vastness but in the uk you don’t see crystar, blackstar, computer warriors, starriors, silver hawks, air raiders or sky commanders very often, they are all very difficult to collect here
@tydiriumhanger1320

It is funny you point that out because we have some toy lines in excess here but over there you have Galaxy rangers and later Dungeons and Dragons figures we struggle to find here. Also Robocop and Captain power later figures and vehicles seem easier to get over there but I do understand your plight

@@tydiriumhanger1320 yes robo cop toys are easier to get in the uk, but the only time I’ve seen a galaxy ranger in the uk was when I got one for my 5th birthday 😂, we don’t see these at all here,same as captain power they’re all in the US and Italy France and Portugal, dungeons and dragons we have a few figures but most of the good stuff is all with you

If he actually read the comics, instead of just displaying them, he'd know why Feldspar is half crystal and half magma. He's the Regent of the kingdom, and uncle if the brothers. He has the properties of both sides, to show his neutrality in their conflict.

Back in the day, I used to work at a video store, and a Mom came in to return a video, saying it wasn't suitable for her kids. It was G-rated, so I asked "what's wrong with it?" And she said that it had crystals in it. Apparently some religious people don't like crystals. Indoctrinating their kids into a bronze-age cult is no problem, but they draw the line at harmless minerals. Maybe that explains the fact that I've never ever heard of "Crystar" before.

good review bro this and blackstar are crap... but so much fun to see now and remember, and... we did nt know what was good then, we surely wanted it all to try at least in 82, I hooked on Joes, almost went eagle force... surely a better choice than this, but was 13 then, and wanted more mature stuff by then, saved by the bell, D I had crossbows and catapults which still surely beats this! so now you know... good show bro
