Whoa!!! 10 seconds in and yours looks soooooo clean I had to immediately like and comment. I only got parts of this toy over the years, just didn't see myself paying over $230 for it years ago... crazy how much I've spent on 3P TF figures since.

Wow, the 80's had some cool toys!

By far the most fun for KIDS. The collectables made for adults nowadays are super cool, but the ones in the 80s were iconic.

When I first saw this, I was in shock. I wanted this set in the animated series. It would have been nice to see this in animation.

The way I understand it. This is the holy Grail of M.a.s.k. the most rare and expensive m.a.s.k toys

Frankly, I don't recall seeing these in the Mask stand of the toystore that me and my classmates hangout after school

It was a rare toy, it came at the end of the line, it's super expensive as well

Me neither, never seen cardboard box flyer and Ford Bronco that breaks apart. Don't think they are expensive though.

I got this complete set, mad prices when I checked from ebay. I mean it’s been in mom’s attic since I played with it as a kid, still working and my kids playing with it. Not that hard to figure out how to operate a toy🙃

GREAT. Helped me a lot for preparing it for my MOVE project. . You would certainly like my MASK toy-photography project. If you want to know more about it, let me know :-) :-)

Have you heard of the basement ? It's an add on for Boulder Hill, I've never seen it until recently and can't find anything about it.

Don't know if you found out since your comment, but it's a custom made by fan maker "Cliff Dagger." There are KZfaq videos about it. I don't know if he is planning to reproduce it and sell it or not.

I think these extensions are coming from both sides are scythes for cutting down enemies.

The same year, Kenner was acquired by Tonka.

I honestly LIKE the truck as a truck myself. But it stops for me there. I'd buy it if it were a cheaper pick up as a completionist, but this needed, more, like the other trucks had. The crate could have been a trailer to be pulled behind and it not attack its own, but have a vehicle on the other guys side that could shoot at the truck and blow it up and have our trailer/crate shoot at theirs and blow it up. Now THAT would have been a decent idea.

I had this toy back in the day. I liked the idea of it (Lazer tag MASK) as it seemed novel and fun. However, I remember the to being a big let down that got very little play. First problem is that the RATFANG vehicle is NOT really a MASK vehicle in the truest sense. It's really just an exploding target that only vaguely appears to be a transforming vehicle. Apart from those two little "wings" that pop out, it has zero transforming play. Second problem is the HORNET vehicle is a a flying machine that turns into a ..... BOX. To paraphrase the movie BIG from 1988 "Well, there's a million toys that turn into something. And this is a box that turns into a plane. So what's so fun about playing with a box? That's not any fun!" Third problem is the action all goes only one way. HORNET can fire at RATFANG and make it fall apart, but the opposite is not available. It's no surprise to me that this was one of the very last MASK toys produced. The company had clearly run out of ideas and/or enthusiasm for the line by this point

Anyone remember in the early nineties a re-release of mask toys except in clear plastic? They were called like Xray warriors or laser stealth invisi-cars or something dumb like that???

The Ratfang looks like the same vehicle as the Firecracker, except for the forward rake and different front end. I guess they figured they could do a different mold for that part since it needed the exploding feature anyway. I'm not a fan of the set even after seeing it in action. One of the vehicles being a friggin crate is pretty lame, plus it's a one sided affair. The Ratfang can't fire back at the Hornet. And all it does is explode. All the Ratfang has for "transformation" are the gun/blade/wing things that pop out on the side, which you said are too fragile to use often. Plus, this was probably expensive even when it was new. I can see why it was rare and didn't sell well. I wouldn't have liked this even as a kid.

It’s lame and cool at the same time. Think it helps bc it’s so rare. Be nice to stumble on one

Compared to the other M.A.S.K. toys, this set is admittedly pretty weak. However, it blows away other infrared toys from the same year. Mattel used similar gimmicks on their Bravestarr and He-Man toys, but they were nowhere near as well executed as this.

I collected The Mask series back in the day when it was released, but boy am I glad this didn't make it to Tulsa Oklahoma ever! The gimmicks concept was interesting but the execution completely falls on its face. From what it does the results are lackluster at best.
