full sized HDMI !!!!!! fantastic. Bought one of these last week. While running pihole for my newtork in a 20 C room, its at about 38 C after running 24/7...nice. This will be able to handle retropie no problem. I will note..dont replace the thermal pads with paste as it doesnt fill the gap....if you need high quality thermal pads buy 1.5mm grizzly or something.(if you damage them etc)

I'm only considering this case because it has a version that supports m.2, meaning i can hide a drive in the box without having to buy SATA to USB converters and having it lying around. I would definitely prefer passive cooling. Got any tips for good passive cooler cases that maybe also support hiding an ssd inside?

Not personally a big fan on passive cooling but check out the flirc case you may like that. It is really well made.

Hi RetroPie Guy, I did what u showed in the video, but my fan still don't seem to be running even though the casing was pretty hot after running some Dreamcast games. I'm running RetroPie 4.7.1

I'm new to Pi4, I have a Pi3 in a Flirc Raspberry Pi 3B Case and never had any issues with heat. Now I have a Canakit Pi4 8GB Starter Kit, this case looks way cheaper than the Flirc, any thoughts, I guess I can run this case and see what happens, looking at your 512GB image, I have several images already but I appreciate the work you guys do on these builds and stability, ect.

Thanks for the kind words. The canakit is on the cheaper side but I do believe it will work all the same in all honesty. It has a cooling fan which runs constantly if I"m not mistaken. If you drop it repeatedly it will likely get damaged but as long as you're careful it'll be fine. This case is a tank....it'll hold up to just about anything but most of us are leaving these on desks or shelves and not putting them through the wringer. I think you'll be okay but you could always upgrade the case. They're not expensive.

Have you tried to run the fan script with retro pi or an image? I couldn't get it to run.

Yeah in the terminal? I didn't have any issues.
