I've been CLAMoring for more clamshell designs for a while now, and am so glad this is getting such solid praise. That being said though, I'm going to wait until they make the inevitable "Flip Plus" with better PS2 performance. But my money is ready to be thrown.

Retroid devices usually have a setting to allow you to change the Nintendo style A and B buttons to an X-Box style layout. You aren't stuck with the Nintendo style if you don't like it.

I was ready to sell this thing when i ran into some emulation slow downs and how changing to xbox button layout makes you custom input every button layout again. I found it to be harder to traverse the handheld in general because of everything being locked to the Retro controls. I eventually caved into it, and changed the Daijisho frontend back to the Retroid Launcher because everything is just… easier to use on the flip and it auto configures the best cores. I’m learning to love this thing all over again, and it’s genuinely a very unique retro handheld, i feel more drawn to play things on this than on my nintendo switch these days!

The flippy bois are coming back, hopefully, Jack 2 and 3 omg that be a dream

I love mine. Got it in black. I use it for all my emulation needs up to ps1..Everything else is played on my steamdeck. Gamecube,ps2, xbox,psp..My 2 fav devices. Im fine with the hinge. This is the best clam shell on the market. 2 bad its been discontinued. Glad i got mine when i did.

I'm thinking about grabbing one of these. I really don't need it since I already have an Odin Lite, a RP3 and an Anbernic RG35XX Plus, but I kind of want to have a clam shell handheld as well.

Had my sports red on order since day one and have decided to cancel it too long and people are complaining about the quality control

Love that color -- I got the transparent red one but kinda regret it now because supposedly the hinges on the solid plastic models are tighter (or something to that effect). Regardless, I am disappointed that the hinge does not lock like the 3DS one does. Also, yes, the hinge does not go back as far as the 3DS one does -- had I not been careful, I might have cracked mine. The screen is at a bit of an awkward angle but looks great itself and the device is still playable.

at around 7:10 you mention that when you use HDMI to play on your TV, you can play with your "controller". Do you mean this flip controller, or a separate controller that you can connect? Are separate controllers sold somewhere (and how to know if they will be compatible)? Thanks @TechSpaceCowboy

So have you tried the rg405m and what do you think about that in comparison I've never tried any retroid devices and I'm really just kind of looking for something to play Wind Waker and a bunch of other miscellaneous PS2 games

Goto settings > Handheld settings > input > controller style > Xbox. That will fix your inverted buttons. This applies globally tho.
