We are back working on one of the most notoriously unreliable performance cars in the world!! Today one again we try to get the supercharged VR6 Corrado back on the road. How hard could it possible be?
I hope this gives you something to amuse you for a little while. Why not check out some of my other videos while you've got some idle time on your hands?
Make sure to like, subscribe, and share if you are a car enthusiast who enjoys working on your own car as a shade tree mechanic or fellow grease monkey, or if you just enjoy watching the misery of trying to keep one of the best driving cars ever produced in actual running condition!
Not even Ratarossa, Scotty Kilmer, The Car Wizard, Johnny the Car Ninja, Hoovie or Tavarish would dare tackle the insanity of resurrecting and modifying a 208,000 mile Corrado VR6 at the same time as a vintage Fiat Spider and maintaining a 240,000 mile 1.8t Jetta while tooling around in a 174,000 mile Mk4 R32 daily driver!! But I'm a special kind of crazy.
If you have an .:R32, Corrado, Fiat, Alfa, or some other weird quirky car that is a challenge to keep on the road, please share in the comments! If you've got a Sequoia, have pity on the other car owners whose vehicles will not outlast the rest of civilization as we know it.

The professional who will make it sead 3 times as much horsepower as I have now so from around 220 to 650 around there with a rotrex c30 94 charger and some other mods around too I'm rly exited by my dumb estimation that means 0 to 60 in amlost half the time and a top speed of around 182 mph I'm exited

@@MrSparsilis Just setting proper expectations, most superchargers, including the Rotrex, do not make more than 450hp on a VR6 motor, and that would be on a 3.2 24V from an R32. More realistic numbers are in the 350 range for a higher boost intercooled build. And also worth mentioning that the transmission on a Corrado maxxes out at 174mph, gear limited unless you change the 5th gear to the TDI 5th gear. 0-60 will improve, but it's FWD so unless you're on really sticky tires with a limited slip differential, it's not going to improve that much because you'll be spinning the tires . Once you're moving, you'll see the acceleration increase dramatically, but these were mid 15 second cars to begin with, and if you can shave off a couple seconds in the quarter mile, it is a radically noticeable improvement.

Hey brandon would it have been easier if you removed the head light?
@CliffjumperCars
@CliffjumperCars Жыл бұрын
Yes BUT... to remove the headlight, I have to remove the Kamei grill spoiler, and that is very brittle after 30 years, it has some cracks at the mounting points, and every time I remove and reinstall it, I run the risk of damaging it further. So I try to limit how often I touch that. Also, in order to get the tensioner dialed in to the sweet spot, I need to drive the car and monitor what the belt does at high rpms, then readjust. Yes, I could drive around with no headlight while doing that, but I've gotten used to reaching that tensioner bolt to adjust it with everything in place.

Hey Brendan by chance do you have the link for that bolt? I’m in the same situation as you.

Hey brandon i am looking at a verison 3 vf setup but my only concern is the air linlet and water and potential hydro locking with your CC removed and air coming from that area do you get water issues or concerns
@CliffjumperCars
@CliffjumperCars Жыл бұрын
I do have that concern. My Corrado is no longer a vehicle that is driven if it's raining. Fortunately my R32 has a rainy weather setup, and we have other vehicles to drive in rain, so I've got options.

@CliffjumperCars ok I have 5 others also 3 Benz 1 bmw and a f150, I was told I could run a diverted and that would help eliminate that possibility or atleast lower it thanks for the quick responses

@@buddiec it really depends where you locate the MAF and how much piping you have between the MAF and the supercharger. AEM makes a water diverter valve that may work, but I have not tried it in a forced induction application myself. It may be worth installing for peace of mind. Here's the amazon listing for one: www.amazon.com/AEM-20-403S-Air-Bypass-Valve/dp/B000CFQF5W/ref=asc_df_B000CFQF5W/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312142287749&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=4134080472232926906&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1013929&hvtargid=pla-493491140316&psc=1

Hey Brendan, I'm not sure if I heard back from you or not, as I lost that other thread. Sorry for posting here but, Do You know where the ground wire is located on the throttle body for the Corrado VR6 by any chance? Thanks man
@CliffjumperCars
@CliffjumperCars Жыл бұрын
Hey Steve- I looked at the back of my throttle body and there is not a ground wire there. I also noticed that in the VW ETKA parts listing there is not a ground wire shown there... so I'm wondering if a previous owner added one to yours? Extra grounds only help and can't hurt. I'd imagine that it probably would run to a post on the firewall, as there are a few threaded posts there that can accept M6 nuts.

@@CliffjumperCars Wow, Brendan, thank you so much for confirming this, This really makes my night actually 🤣 as I'm going through the process of elimination. More peace of mind for sure as I'm trying to resolve this antagonizing issue. 💪 I don't have any ground wires coming off my throttle body thank God for that. I just heard mixed reviews about it on Vw Vortex that's the only reason I i was double checking. In regards to more ground wires I've heard mixed reviews on that as more ground wires could deflect the ECU signal in the long run shortening the ECU"s life span. Replacing all of your ground wires on the other hand will allow your headlights to shine brighter I can promise you that.💡🚨 Thanks again!
