I can see this happening. I think it’s similar to Lost Sands. If we had actually lost Golden Sands Outpost, then Rare would’ve probably given us something new in its place. I think you’re right the Flameheart and Pendragon are both coming back at some point. There’s no way that Rare would actually put Pendragon as the opposite side to Flameheart if they didn’t have a plan to bring him back later. It’s basically guaranteed the Flameheart’s going to win, so I don’t think they’re just sacrificing Pendragon for good. If they were going to sacrifice any Athena character for good, it would be Belle. Maybe Ramsey, but I don’t think they’d actually get rid of the Pirate Lord forever.

Yeah, everyone is super hyped to see flameheart again, but also pendragon did this to himself, he didnt really have to sacrifice himself for this tho :]

I expect the Flameheart side to win fairly decisively, mostly just based on the notion that, even if you've never done a tall tale, you know and have interacted with Flameheart since he was an event, and the whole Reapers faction and hideout was introduced into the game in steps, all based on him at the root. Pendragon however, most people probably don't even know if they haven't done a bunch of the tall tales. He's been in what, like, 1 part of one or two adventure events ever I think? I personally will be hoping to save Pendragon. I love that part of his makeup, is that his sword is meant to free the souls of skeletons from their corruption and return them to peace. I actually had thought about that for myself before Pendragon was even introduced iirc LoL, so when I saw that after seeing him/the sword, I was like 😲

Or Rare fudges the numbers to keep Pendragon. We shall see....

I don't think there will be anything like Lost Sands. Lost sands pretty much split the player base in HALF. But this one? Eh... I'd say it is 95% - 5%. Literally every single pirate and their mother want Flameheart back. I don't think Athena people will even try after seeing people from their side resurrecting him.

Lost sands wasn’t gonna bring anything “new” it was either we lost golden sands or nothin, considering they said “equal content for both sides” and nothing happened when golden sands won, best case scenario it would have just become reapers hideout 2.0

It takes them time to role out the results. New Golden Sands is now being built up with stone and mortar. It won't be a mere outpost, soon it will be a bona fide pirate town.

As much as I love Pendragon and hate the Reaper faction, Flameheart must be resurrected so we can absolutely destroy him again and again not just for the loot. Losing Pendragon is a good emotional drive to beat Flameheart’s ass and we all know he’s gonna win. I haven’t been playing long but those who have been playing for years are waiting for this moment, scratching and clawing at the opportunity like sirens to sailing ships desperate for his return. Plus a big excitement needs to get back to the Sea of Thieves it’s been so long. We are pirates after all, we crave gold and glory through dangerous adventure and thrill. As the goddess Calypso would say, “it is in our nature”😈
