Goes to show you making manual special effects is still cheaper and it actually looks a lot better for most scenes. They go way over board using CGI.

I'm so glad Disney killed their version of Star Wars. We now know, irrefutably, that Lucas was the best thing that will ever happen to Star Wars. And it's gone.

accounting for inflation, all the prequels and originals were abt the same (low 100 millions) which is pretty incredible as they used lots of brand new technology.

The only things I liked about The Last Jedi was the opening battle (10-12 minutes?) and the title of the movie. The only thing I didn't like about Return of the Jedi was that Luke wasn't the one to knock the Fett into the Sarlacc pit. I think it would've been better if Luke deflects a shot from Boba Fett and it nicks his jetpack and loses control and falls in. The reason predicated around the fact that Boba Fett doesn't miss (but that's not too big a deal) and the original ending with the Ewok folk song. I feel it deadened what should've been a joyous celebration and a well deserved victory for the Rebels and it breaks the no dialogue thing that the SW movies imploy. I don't count Chewbacca growling at the award ceremony, he was probably pissed that he didn't get a medal, and rightfully so. :)

I went to see the remaster of return of the Jedi in the theaters when I was younger and was absolutely filled with rage that they took out the ewok song at the end. Absolutely loved that part of the movie when I was a kid.

Sadly, it would be impossible to accurately calculate how much money TLJ lost Disney because there was huge fan backlash that caused Solo to lose a lot of money in 2018 (we don't even know what the accurate monetary cost and loss for Solo is), there is lifelong Star Wars fans and Gen Xers who just gave up and stopped spending their hard-earned credits on Star Wars merch. The gaslighting the fans endured from TLJ for like 2 years drove even more dollars away. Which brings me to The Rise Of Skywalker. I blame that one on TLJ as well because the movie made no sense and was a cluster f**ck. I'm guessing TLJ cost Disney about 4 billion dollars considering that's how much they purchased Lucasfilm for...

There’s too much CGI and not enough practical effects. Lower the budget better the outcome. In some cases

I have to agree with you. I like seeing the practical elements in a Star Wars film.

@@thepadawancollectorofficial it’s one of the things that made it “magical.” The engineering for thd puppeteering, and models, camera work. The art form of it. Something gets lost as much as gained with or without digital elements. One thing I loved about George Lucas is he could do so much with so little. Disney buying Starwars was a curse. Higher budget with a Franchise like that doesn’t necessarily make it better. Just makes it less focused. On a lower budget we wouldn’t have gotten the barf bucket of E 8/9. And even E7 had more practical effects but still rehashing new hope but bigger was a still bullshit. George would never have done the legecy characters so dirty and wouldn’t have made them “has beens.” What a disappointment. And don’t get me started with the dumpster fire of “Kenobi”
