Күн бұрын44 years on from the original, Evans Cycles have revisited Sir Ridley Scott’s iconic 1973 Hovis advert. The original Hovis boy Carl Barlow, now a 57-year-old retired firefighter, is seen conquering Gold Hill in Shaftesbury, Dorset, thanks to the power of an electric bike.

I remember lifting 80 kg barbells in overhead presses in the gym. Late one evening the cleaning lady, as she put them back in an overhead locker, was furious with us for leaving them on the floor.

His name is Carl and he was in my class at school. He went on to become a fireman :)

A braver man than me! Mind you I'm still resisting the temptation to go electric, still on pedal-power! I wonder if he could manage the similar Keere Street in Lewes? I've never dared try - once I did the first five yards or so, then got off in despair. It could probably be done with an electric.

Well, when I was 16, up the hill in 1st gear ⚙️ all the way, people started looking and some clapped, it’s my secret, was on a mountain bike which was very light, now probably get half way

The original Hovis advert was produced by none other than Ridley Scott, he of 'Alien', 'Bladrunnner', 'Gladiator' fame, etc, etc.
