Bill's risk speech is definitely one of the many iconic moments in the franchise. I also love when Sargon tells him he couldn't allow him to sacrifice one so close to him. Even he could see how powerful Kirk and Spock's bond truly is.

This is what I love most about people getting in to Trek. They start it thinking it'll be boring nerd talk and technical gibberish, and come to discover its truly about people coming together to solve mysteries, problems and situations, betterment of self and deeper still the emotional journeys. Trek is amazing.

So here's a little fun fact: Sargon, when NOT possessing Kirk's body, is voiced by a different TOS cast member: it's James Doohan!

I get the feeling that Leonard Nimoy enjoyed getting to play other characters besides Spock on the show.

That "Risk is our business" speech was so inspiring. But that ending was a tear jerker. I don't remember feeling that way when I watched this as a kid. But their final embrace and kiss was an expression of ultimate love. I found myself trying to fight back the tears while sitting next to my wife. I feel guilty for trying to hide my emotions. I hope in our final moments together one day that we can be just like that together. 💔

Fans also say this was an excellent episode for Nimoy. He showed he could could play the emotional heavy. This gave him a chance to show some of his acting range.

I saw an outtake from this episode once, Kirk was standing over the receptacle saying his line and he adlibbed the end of it. In that booming voice he said, "Never Fear"... and then said "Sargon is here" and then started laughing. It was pretty funny.

For us old-timers, the "Risk is Our Business" speech is considered some of the finest writing in all of the original Star Trek. It really defined the mission, Kirk's role and leadership style, and really the entire premise of the show.

Spock smiling with evil intentions is indeed unsettling.

I put this inspirational "Kirk speech" right up there with his "closing speech" to the bearded Spock in "Mirror, Mirror".

"We forgot to pay the electric bill." Good one.

That was the best painful scream on Star Trek from anyone. Man Nichols really sold that one

Another exceptional performance by Nimoy. He could switch on a dime between likable and scary and make it look easy.

"Why didn't you just build it with boobs to start with? " You crack me up, Bunny. I find myself looking forward to Saturdays.
