May I suggest doing what DIY Danie did? She covered a small door access with a bookcase that is attached to the door so you pull a book and it swings/rolls open? Also I think shades not curtains is the way to go!

Chair rail at the height of the door with bead board! I would leave the top half plain and find a piece of art that you can center between the two windows to cover the breaker box. Roman shades for the two small windows & add a tall plant to the dead space to the right of the two small windows for balance. I would orient the rug the opposite direction & add a decorative mirror above the dresser. It’s looking great so far! 😊

Love all of these suggestions!! Thank you! We did try the rug the opposite way first but it was too small and came out too far on the sides but not enough at the bottom of the bed. I just need a bigger rug 🫣

Our house is 110 and we also have plaster walls. I’ve had good luck with the metal looking drywall anchors. I find them at Lowes. Also maybe try rotating your rug so it goes wide rather than long to help create a grouping with the bed. Love your new house and you’re doing an amazing job.

Have you thought about board and batten on the bottom portion? It would solve the door molding height. It would add a subtle touch when you add your curtains. As for the electrical box, a picture or mirror. I hope this helps! Happy decorating☺

It does thank you! The only reason I didn’t want to do board and batten is because it’s in every other area of our home…kitchen, dining entryway, upstairs landing. So I wanted to do something different in the bedrooms 🤷🏻‍♀️

I would do wallpaper!! Just paper over the door, box etc. Place a table or bookcase in front of door( you could add hidden wheels). Definitely use the same curtains on that side to be cohesive😊❤

I love your room and the bed in front the shuttered windows. The curtains did add a sense of completion to the window wall. As for all the molding on the side wall with the windows and that half door...... I personally think simple board and batten will be much less busy. You can always add a patterned wall paper above it. or a contrasting color. What a beautiful space to decorate.

I have NO clue how i missed one of your videos 🤦‍♀️ It turned out so pretty! Light and airy but cozy and comfy! The curtains make such A big difference too. I think some suttle printed wall paper on half the wall would be gorgeous in this space! A small table or bookcase/shelf unit in front of the access door. Roman shades on the small windows would look nice. I know you will make the room beautiful! Enjoyed the video, although I'm late🫣

There is hardware that you can use that will make the door disappear. Pressure latches and hidden hinges are fairly inexpensive. What would you do if the door and electric box weren't there at all? Reverse engineer the project to what you want. For now you can add a simple roman shade you can sew. If your pillow shams are wide enough you use them. Your doing an excellent job! Your home is coming along beautifully!❤

Great drapes and bedding! I was going to suggest placing the bed in front of the small door until you said that you actually use that storage . My thought is to put roman shades on the small windows with matching fabric as the drapes for a cohesive look. As for camouflaging the door, maybe build a bookcase that is attached to the door, and you can open it to access the closet. You can build it higher and wider if necessary. One of the shelves can protrude out and act as a "coffee" table for the 2 seating chairs on either side. Just a suggestion. You are a delight. Blessings 😊

Love love love! Super excited Quince has bedding! I bought a Mongolian cashmere sweater from them 2 years ago - super soft, amazing quality and not one pill! Very impressed with that sweater. As far as room challenges - I wonder if you could create a hinged panel to cover the door and incorporate into all over wall design. Whatever you do will be awesome!! Can’t wait to see what you come up with. Beautiful transformation as always.

I have a few ideas: 1) If you don’t need access to the little door, move your bed headboard to that wall. That wall needs something large and substantial on it. The room right now feels really long because everything is on the side with the windows on it. It’s also weird to me to have your headboard against the window. 2) Get a tall headboard to draw your eye up. 3) I would upgrade to a king size bed. This is the best thing I have ever done for myself and my marriage. Do it and you’ll never go back. 4) You could make a reading nook / space for you and your husband by the window. I can see you putting a cute chaise lounges 5) If you are hesitant about loosing the storage space behind that door you have lots of other opportunities to add storage (you have room to optimize / larger your closet, you could put a window bench in, etc) I hope some of this was helpful! Your idea about molding is wonderful, but I feel like it won’t solve the room layout weird feeling you are describing. Love all the great things you do❤

Thanks for taking the time to write all these suggestions! We use the door a lot so we can’t put the bed in front of it and I do plan on getting a bigger headboard! I don’t love the bed in front of the windows either and would actually prefer it on the other wall. And I would love to have a reading nook in front of the windows, but again, we use the door too much! We actually don’t need a king bed because I sleep all the way on the edge of my bed so we have more than enough space 😆 The storage space is actually quite large and is the only storage we have in the entire house because there isn’t a basement or shed and we have no linen closets so it has all of our Christmas and other items in it! So I can’t lose it! I promise I thought of most of your suggestions before and prefer them but practicality wise it unfortunately doesn’t work 😞 We’ll think something though!

You have quite a large bedroom! Have you considered using a larger bed? Perhaps something wood and period to the age of the house. I can see a beautiful antique Westlake bed ❤(my personal favorite) the rug still doesn’t fit, it needs to be larger like you suggested. You could always use a lime wash on your walls that looks kinda like a crushed velvet/ textural appearance. As far as the two awkward windows, you could always run one long rod across both, hang your drapes and it gives the illusion that you have a large window there as well, plus it maintains access to your storage and fuse box. It would make your curtains more cohesive. When you paint I would do a moodier color like you did in the downstairs sitting room. I would still do the framed molding just small scale. Anything you do will look just lovely 😊

I hung curtains in our living room recently. Did one window and then waited a long time on the other two because I was frustrated that they were loose. A couple weeks ago I tackled them. I went to the hardware store, searching for the perfect anchors, screws etc. it turns out I just needed a little more force, aka my husband, to tighten them up. I didn’t care about my pride because the job was done and off my list 🎉

Room definitely looks better. I love organic as well … won’t say anything else. The curtains look great and I think that was a good idea having the six panels. As for the other wall … I think the chair rail would be nice at that height to match the storage door (because you have high ceilings) and change out the trim around the storage door to match … if it doesn’t. The wainscoting above the storage door should match the size of the two windows and have it centred with the windows on either side of it. I believe it should encapsulate the electric box, if I eyed it correctly. Or better yet, hang a large ornate mirror above (if doable) the storage door to hide the electrical panel door. I wouldn’t put wainscoting on the remainder of that wall above the chair rail … pictures would look nice on the wall between the two sets of windows. That’s why I thought a large ornate mirror (even if it’s a large ornate frame with a mirror cut to size), so there’s no wainscoting on the upper part of the wall … around the entire room. As for the wainscoting below I would go with two panels for each space that you have equally mapped out on that entire wall … and around the entire room for consistency. I normally would say three panels but if you’re putting furniture (chairs, etc.) in front that might be too busy. But if you don’t think it’ll be too busy go for three … I personally would go with two. I think one panel would be too much space, given it’s a bedroom and you’ll have pictures/mirrors and whatnot above the chair rail, around the room. I would wainscot below the chair rail for the entire room … even under the bow windows and behind the bed (but no chair rail on that wall because those windows are lower than the others). I’m not sure how the other wall looks but again out the chair rail with the same wainscoting below. Where the chimney juts out, I’d try to match the narrow wainscoting on the wall on either side of the closet doors. Also, if possible match the same dimensions for the wainscoting on the storage door wall to that opposite wall … except narrow it on the walls with the bow window, either side of the closet doors and on the wall where the chimney juts out! Hope that makes sense. Of course, just my opinion … I have no doubt whatever you decide will look nice! It’s easier to eye things up there than through the lens of a camera. Looking forward to next week! 🙏🙌❤️🇨🇦

The draperies really elevated the space. Agree that Roman shades would work for the two small windows. I also thought a large picture over the electrical box would be a good solution. For the door, is it a possibility to change out the knob for a push catch? You mentioned in other comments that the rug didn't work turned the other way. Just a thought about that. It doesn't need to go up to the nightstands. You can pull it down to cover more floor at the foot of the bed.

Your room is looking wonderful. I love your idea of molding on the wall. Because you can sew, I would suggest that you make some kind of shade for those pretty windows.
