I would crack all of those Manning's and use the process I described previously and resubmit them. The oxidation to the cards are the only thing hurting them (if they are well centered.) You can also just get the microfiber cloth damp with water and do the same process as with the wax and it works as well.

My 'Rule of Thumb' when deciding whether or not to send in a card for grading is that the current value of a '9' grade needs to be at least close to $100. And that was back when it cost $15-25 to grade each card. Now, it would need to be at least $150 on a 9 grade. NEVER assume you're getting a 10. That will only lead you into trouble financially....

I agree. Imagine sending those 1999 Topps Chrome Peyton's to PSA. I cackled when I saw that. This guy has a ton of viewers too that are taking his advice. It's crazy

100% truth here. I don't get why people grade base, non RC cards (short of a nice low # parallel).. even if it's cheap to grade, how high can the return really be? No one grades cards like this for a PC.

Agreed. Hindsight is always 20-20 and I really appreciate the transparency that goes into putting out an honest video like this...but about 75% of the cards submitted leave you scratching your head a bit.

Your expectations were way out of whack after that first run of 2013 select cards. It is VERY hard to find cards that old that are in gem condition if they have been kept raw. If anything, when you are looking at those from the 2000's, hope for 9's, don't be surprised at 8's and be thrilled with 10's.

Didn't inspect the cards before he sent them out. Then whining when they get a bad grade and saying they're easy 10's to him. I don't think this is the guy to be taking card advice from.

This just reminds me that the vast majority of people involved in this hobby are just looking to make money or chase rare stuff they don’t care about. I guess it’s the kid in me, but I just buy what I like. I have players and teams that I like, and I look for cool looking cards of those teams. Slabbed or not. I’d rather have stuff that I’m a fan of, so when the market goes back to a tiny niche I’m not worried about offloading it.

Things got soo expensive that people started to talk about "second year cards." Second year cards aren't a thing unless people can't afford the rookie cards. I was on COMC and bought a perfectly centered Ozzie Smith 1980 "second year card" for 92 cents. I have a Hank Aaron second year card, because I can't afford his rookie. These type of cards will be in dollar boxes at card shows in five years.

Wouldn’t having all those cards graded of the same player in Select lower the value of the ten because you increased the pop count so much? But if you got them all purchased/graded for less than 15 bucks it was probably lucrative

I've got two options for you: #1 sell them at card shows. I think people will pay more there than on eBay, you'll have kids and casual collectors looking through your stuff, and you can trade. #2 package a few players together and sell it as a lot for a fixed price with offers. You'll lose some on each card, but you'll liquidate faster. Approaching the junk slab era, $0.99 eBay auctions could hurt.

Complaining every single time a card didn't get a 10...complete turnoff, and expecting 10s on chrome cards that are 10, 12, 15 years old is so unrealistic. 9s are good grades on those cards...most of the perfect examples have long been scooped up.

Those old Topps chrome cards will oxidize over time. You can take a small amount of car wax and a microfiber cloth and work into the card with your finger in a circular motion and it will shine like it’s brand new! I’ve used this process before on 98’ Topps chrome cards and have gotten 9’s and 10’s back from PSA

Yeah if you sell things for more than you paid for them I can see why the 600 threshold sucks. I use those sites like garage sales, and to get rid of stuff I don’t want (for less than I paid for it) and keep everything on a spreadsheet, So I won’t have a tax bill for any of it. Scalpers are going to get it the worst, which is fine with me 😂 I hope they have fun paying taxes on $75 blaster boxes that retail for $19.99.

When a PSA 6 pops up, it really makes you wonder what the heck they saw that you didn't. I'd imagine a small crease was found. I come across weird creases and wrinkles on some of the cards I pull from packs and wonder what the heck happened at the factory to cause that. I don't mind all of the duplicates. You're investing, so people tend to buy a lot of the same card. Good luck with your investment.

I have been a Grader for SGC for nearly a year. I have graded nearly 6,000 cards. Some of my cards have been auctioned off for $450,000 48 Leaf 🍃 Jackie Robinson rookies 800 + Marvel and DC cards a few 33 GOUDEY Babe Ruth's T206 Ty Cobbs ,MJ RPA cards. The 1st one of MJ RPA $23,000 at Heritage Auctions!

“Cards are less desirable” people always talking in terms of demand and ignoring obvious supply impact of price. Same reason I did not submit my piles of junk wax era MJs .

Base cards in hockey are worth good money and only going up. There's 50k plus of them. Demand is the problem in other sports.

KingKuba1313 absolutely. I see the opportunity in hockey especially with the new tv contract. They say collect what you like and I am a casual fan of hockey at best. The Fleer metal inserts in hockey catch my eye though since they copy a lot of iconic Basketball inserts

I think we all would like to re-do our submissions from a year ago. I have a 39 card ultra modern ordner and a 13 card one still out and coming back hopefully soon that when I look at what I sent in I almost wish the order would get lost. I haven't seen the grades yet but just what I sent in and im shaking my head going what was I thinking. The good news is that having these slabs is probably the best way to sell them as your right the pop count will be up but that means people will want them slabbed vs raw.

Those 4,5,6 graded chrome cards seem like they were polished and a residue was left over. Don't polish Chrome cards, they can tell even if you get the residue off.

Last comp on the base Peyton manning 10 is $25 plus ten ship. Considering you spent a hundred to grade and the thing is only worth $15 raw, by my calculations you will never get your money back!

Congrats on the returns Brad. Lots of 10s from Select! Topps chrome are tough to grade. Still better to sell individually to maximize profit since you have multiple copies. When one copy sells, easier to repost by clicking sell similar item and uploading the update picture. Can even mixed in a few via auctions. 😎

You might want to double check the 2012 Topps Platinum Tom Brady....it might be an orange refractor. These cards are commonly misidentified because Topps didn't make it obvious to tell the difference between regular, refactor, orange, red, black, etc. The glare looked orange, but maybe you are wearing an orange shirt? Double check it. I think it is an orange refractor.

Honestly, I don’t mind some of these cooler older base cards. That said, it really is the junk slab era. You’re seeing cards like these plastered all over the different selling sites to the point of exhaustion. The backlog is here, people just unloading for cheap. The problem is the supply is going to far exceed the amount of buyers out there making these cards less liquid. There’s still 5.7 million more cards to go. I’m thankful the 27 card sub I put in and still waiting for was more rare cards. I got lucky.

I personally will collect a 8 or up grade that’s what I prefer to purchase if modern but if vintage I Don’t mind the grade line for the 40s-70s. Thanks for showing off your cards. I love watching peoples submission return vids

I feel bad for the guy who was assigned to grading these, with so many of the same cards he probably took 10-12 smoke breaks per day to get through them all. I'm just confused on the logic behind grading so many of these cards that are lower end slabs? You could have made a better roi on 1 small stack of brady rookie cards and less time trying to sell all these, especially the 9's. 🤷♂️

The ROI was a lot higher when he submitted them a year ago - and when he submitted these no one knew it would take more than a year to get back. That being said, selling these cards will be labor intensive and not a good use of time when you could have made the same amount or more dealing with just a few higher end cards.

I think different graders at PSA are more strict than others. I think one person graded your Trouts & someone else graded the rest.

PSA's manual grading system is flawed because humans cant see things objectively. They can grade cards unfairly sometimes. Automated Grading Systems (AGS) grades their cards with AI so every cards is graded without biases and gives every cards a fair and accurate grade.

$15-$16 per card not bad. The Mannings would go now for about $30 or so. The Trouts are about $75-$80 retail for the PSA 10s.

PSA is the standard for card grading, but have you heard about AGS? They use AI technology to grade cards accurately and make grading as fair as possible.

Yikes 😬, this is why the backlog is so messed up. People grading base cards because they saw the manipulated market and thought it was real 😆. I would contact MJ Holdings or another retail repacker and see about selling those to them for there product inserts.

Great reveal except those 5s & 6s. You hit a ton of 10s. PSA was hard on you with the Bradys but Manning Select cards hit a fair amount of 10s. Definitely would be interested in 1 of your Manning Select PSA 10 if you do plan to sell individually. Sorry could not make Off Centered on Wednesday - working....will catch the next one. They pop control the Bradys. I sent in 35 various Topps Chrome Brady's and got (3) 8's and (32) 9's. NOT A SINGLE 10.

Instead of grading these goat base cards, he would have been better off speculating on some current rookies from low to medium end products or just splurging by purchasing and grading fewer higher-end rookie cards or parallels.

Typically that residue stuff is from the cards sticking together. Very common in older chrome cards. Don't think they should have dinged you that much.

1980 Topps Baseball, 1980 Topps Football, 1980 Hockey 2nd year Gretzky, 1980-81 & 1981-82 Topps Basketball are some key RC's and stars that would be great in grade 6 and up in PSA and BVG. Watch those from the 80's decade.

Centering in most of your 9s look off to the naked eye. PSA values centering and eye appeal over the other subgradesb so even if surface and corners look great it's hard to get a ten when centering is visibly off.

Went to my 1st card show last month and was ripped off by a vendor at a card shop right under my nose he took my F1 cards and the owner just turned the other cheek that was the last time I will go a card show again I will stay selling on ebay and buying my cards from whatnot too many thieves at these shows!!!!

Some heartbreaking 8's and lots of 9's. Sell the cards in lots i.e. five PSA 9's of the same card in a lot? Sell in bulk to a card show guy? Hold the USA team cards. I had the same timing issue with a Bulls card submission with another company. I was trying to sell during the Jordan documentary... Now I have slabbed Phil Jackson cards that I guess I will own forever.

I've come to the conclusion that if the card isn't worth at least $150/$200 in a PSA 9, I don't submit that card. I heard that PSA was grading 40,000 cards a day, after watching this that is totally believable.

Goes for bidding and just sell them at least one 2-3 slabs with grade 8/9/10 lot then just set your base price on how much would it cost you for the cards and grading and it will dictate how much will it go for

PSA is very inconsistent with their manual grading. Automated Grading Systems (AGS) uses AI to grade cards so every card is graded fairly and accurately so every card will get the same grade consistently.

Psa grading all over the place. Since you paid 10 bucks a card for grading they gave you shitty grades but if you paid 50 a card you would have got 10s

Great video good example of why PSA has a backlog like it does maybe could consign some and then list the 10s your self. .Manning psa 5s and 6s stuck together in the pack when they were pulled and it peeled away surface laquer. I have a micheal jordan hoops scream that has that cloudiness. Trout, Lebron Steph, and brady you should do well and make a profit.....some of those cards will sell for less than grading fees select retail really killed that product over all even the old stuff that was hobby only collectors just moved away from the set kinda put it out of there minds now . You can always lot em up and maybe make up a few bucks with bress and things like that that really only go for like $5

With the grading price you paid; you did well with Manning, Trout, Shaq, Brady, Peterson, Wilson, Rodgers, Brees, Lebron, Curry, Gronk, etc. (stars/HOFers, except for your PSA 7’s and below). Your cards will never end up getting graded in the future unless grading prices come way down.People that got really hurt were new ultra modern basketball rookies who will never make an All Star team. I hope Dustin buys all your PSA 4-7 Lots.

thanks for the video, as others have pointed out with last years insane craze to grade every card you can get your hands on and now PSA has started sending these cards back to their owners. We will see a huge junk slab era. I just started get back into the hobby. It's a hobby not an investment. The only way its an investment is if you happen to buy a card and that athlete becomes a GOAT. I was lucky and did it with Ovechkin. We will see so many new PSA graded cards in the next few months and now Topps came out with a hugely diluted Baseball set Not a great time for the hobby

The only cards worth grading now are numbered cards and 60's and older vintage.

I think the number of 10s you got is pretty impressive. Payton Manning has some upside because he's surprisingly funny and I think he's got some potential for a cool post-,playing career. Gronk rc as 10 is solid too. If you're going to sell, try taking the card(s) you have a number of 10s in and do them one by one, price the first one where you're confident it will sell really fast, then next one price a tad higher, and see what happens. You might be able to manipulate the market and create a huge rally - who knows, but I just think you could have a little fun and amusement doing that and also learn something interesting about the functioning or nonfunctioning of market - and you are the (don't call it a) comeback card investor.

The amount of tens on the select more than likely means that set will have tons of tens. It was probably produced in a way that gave lots of very clean cards.
