Have you ever found out someone’s age and were like, “whoa, really?” This happens all the time in the animated world since it’s so much harder to figure out with all the magic, non-human characters, and other whatnot that goes down. TheThingsAnimated has got you covered with 20 characters whose ages might surprise you. Do you know how old Wall-e is? How about that Bruno guy no one wants to talk about? We’ve looked at some of Disney’s biggest and most well-regarded films to compile a list of characters whose ages are definitely a little shocking. I loved how Brave turned Snow White's story on its ear. Merida was also a 14 year old princess but she realized wasn't ready to marry anyone yet (choosing herself over any of the 3 suitors presented to her - I wouldn't be surprised if the 3 guys were about 16 or 17, they seemed older than Merida but not that much older) & eventually helped her parents see the light on that & agree to let her wait until she was older to date & marry. But back in certain times when people didn't live as long as the modern era, it wasn't terribly unusual for girls to marry & have families that young because it was important they do so for as long as possible just in case they also died fairly young to insure they would have children to live on after their parents & continue their families.

FINALLY! Someone who understands the eras that Snow White, Aurora, and others like them came from. Yes a 30ish year old man marrying a 14 year old today is down right creepy but Snow White was supposedly set in... what...? 1600s? Rules were different then. Thank you for understanding the time periods of some of the characters.

@@Riounka The Once Upon A Time TV series did a great job with casting Ginnifer Goodwin as a live action version of Snow White because she had such a young looking face that you could imagine her marrying & starting to have a family when she was in her early teens with her adult daughter Emma, the show's main character, being her eldest child.

I'd like to say that both of those movies are set in the past, Rapunzel being 200-500 years ago and Hercules being literally ancient times. And if you didn't know, age gaps were treated a lot differently. Girls were married off in their teens. To adults. Then, it was perfectly normal. Sure, creepy today, but then? Not at all

With Meg from Hercules, if you look at it from the Disney Animated Series, not counting the Last Episode, they seem to be around the same age in Season 1 Episode 45. What are your thoughts on this/that?

So fun fact: My native language isn't English. Of course, as a child I watched Rapunzel in my native language and when Flynn confessed his real name he said that it was "Gheorghe Papagheorghe" not Eugene and this is because this is the actor's name that played him, but his stage name is Jorge and I found that the actual name of Flynn was Eugene just a year ago

My brother was walking around at 8 months or 9months. My cousin was speaking like an adult at the age of 2. So I’m not surprised about the 2 year king fu old baby. And I myself have a memory of understanding my grandma while I was teething. I couldn’t even speak. Soo yeah.

1:31, but how old was Buzz in Buzz Lightyear of Star Command? That’s the question. In the first Toy Story, “he says all those years at the academy wasted” so I’m going to say he was there at least three years, probably more. And it’s four years to graduate West Point so I would say 4 years. Assuming 18 to be the age of recruitment then I would have Rookie Buzz be 22. Though it took him some time to be partnered with Warp Darkmatter so let’s a year so that he’d be 23. And Buzz and Warp Darkmatter had worked together for years and years by Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins, so I’d peg him as in his early 30s. I know he trains at Level 9 but I’m not sure what that translates as.

Yeah it was mentioned by Abuela Alma during the movie Encanto the events around the triplets birth & their family & townspeople having to flee the threat to their home occurred 50 years before the movie's current timeline. It's one of the rare instances in an animated Disney movie that a main character's parent's (& aunt's & uncle's also in this case) age is revealed. I also thought it was a nice touch that Julieta had "salt & pepper" hair.

For real tho, Disney characters really don’t even look their age. Especially the princesses. I thought Snow White, Aurora, Cinderella, Belle, Pocahontas, and Tiana were full grown adults as a kid. Rapunzel, Merida, Elsa, Anna, and Moana are the only ones that actually look their age and have been confirmed by the movies.

5:16. That actually makes sense. This was set in the past, seemingly around medieval or Ancient Roman times, and the age expectancy was low compared to our age expectancy, which is rising with every generation.

This is a just a video of guessing the characters’ ages (which some are way off) and then bashing older people. “Looks good for 65”… my dad is 65 and you really wouldn’t be able to tell. I also know someone who was still very active at 102…. Let’s not stereotype what a certain age shouldn’t or shouldn’t look like… especially in animated movies 🙄
