Totally agree about the scale issue with these kits. I mainly have 1/144 or 1/72 Bandai kits with the exception of a couple Fine Molds and Revell kits that Bandai don't produce eg; Razor Crest and 1/72 Slave 1 (also the Bad Batch Marauder AMT). I have only just bought this kit and have been waiting for it's release so a bit disappointed about the soft moulding but I'm sure I can improve on it with some weathering etc... I really wish Bandai had maintained the license. It's hard to shake the feeling that Revell thinks Sci-fikits are for kids.

Just built this! Great fun building and painting! Large scale was why I paid 50 quid for it! I agree the figures and exposed engine areas were cartoonishly basic! Still it looks great finished!

Completely agree about the scale consistency. I hope a 1:72 versions comes out one day. No way that kit is worth $100 U.S.

Just finished the 1/72 Razor crest and it had the light Grey plastic and was Really crude in details. A Shame Really because when the surface is so soft and almost peely in places it took so much work to get it to par for metallics . Had hopes on this one given the more ”modern” colored plastic but seems like its very much the same. Cheers for the review 🙏🏻

Its true that its awsome to have a big N-1, but why isnt it 1/72 like was the razor crest? WhyI cant have them next to each other to compare?

Same as you- scale frustration, it's annoying. The detail you call out is also pretty disappointing. I had been avoiding some of the printed versions I've seen out there, hoping for a big manufacturer to come out with a well-done kit. I guess that's something of a unicorn expectation for sci fi. Thats Revell for you jumping between scales, I would say by your review let's face its Revell. Man of your talent would not be a problem making it to a decent build. 60 pound for that kit is not a bad price at that scale. Lighting it up would be even better.

It just occurred to me that this kit scale is ROUGHLY the same scale as most ILM filming models of their fighters (1/24 to 1/20). The X-wings, Y-wings, and TIE Fighters, and the original 5' Millennium Falcon filming model they made for ANH were around this scale. At $100 for a studio scaled model this is decent price, considering you'd need to plop down $500 or more for a Captain Cardboard resin studio scale X-wing kit in this scale.

Well it's the typical revell quality lol. Looks like they really can not decide whether they want to make kits for children or for serious modelers. I've already ordered this, it is a lilttle bit disappointing, but at the end of the day it will look great on the shelf. I can see myself adding some scratch built details though.

Typical Revell.....most model companies have passed them by. These looks like molds from 10 or 15 years ago.

I think a great deal of the issues poor old Revell appear to be having are Corporate and finance related - their products moulded in Poland look better, with sharper crisper detail and a better grade of urethane. Whoever actually owns Revell now doesn't appear to care about their customer base, moreover their profit margins - period. This, as far they appear to think currently, is what you get. A poorly moulded product, well cast with cheap styrene raw materials, good quality Instructions that don't really cost much to design and produce, and that box design simply not practicable when it comes to the protection of the product inside.
