This time at the Quick Speed Shop I'm going to show you how to remove a ford transvers spring with a homemade spring spreader, how to disassemble the leaf pack, and how to install a reverse eye main leaf. This is kind of dangerous as there is a lot of kinetic energy stored up in any spring. You need to be extra careful while working on any suspension component that is under tension.

Next time wrap a chain around the spring and spreader for a safety. Clamp all the leaves, wrap a chain around the pack, remove centre nut/ bolt, replace with a length of threaded rod.

No I don't. I'm not sure the Ford and Lincoln spring are even the same. I'm going to guess they are not and as far as I know no one makes springs for that car.

Good home engineered solution with your spring spreader. Would it have been less spring tension to fight if you had taken apart the spring pack first so you were only spreading the one longest leaf?

I tried that once. It makes the c clamp trick way scarier because a lot more tension still in spring
