OMG!! This interview was so great. It described my husband to a "T". That's what MY husband said, "I'd rather enjoy life and eat what I love, than give up meat, cheese, and milk." He too said he'd rather die young. But he hates being on blood pressure meds, and carrying extra weight around his middle. But like Bob said, all I can do is make the WFPB foods avail. If someday he wants to jump in, the water is great. I doubt he will. One thing a Vegan World would look like, aside from what Bob said is, a more compassionate world with much less aggression and bad tempers. I love these two people. They were on point and didn't leave a thing out.

So inspiring! As a healthy 30 year old vegan nutrition counselor i feel no fear of ageing knowing my diet and lifestyle will take care of me. I do feel very sad for my parents that are in their 70's, very sick and on a ton of meds. Still they refuse giving up eating all types of animals products and pure sugar products every day :( Yet showing them info and people who are older then them being so healthy on a vegan diet doesn't inspire them at all since it's not coming from the offical hospital doctors :(

there's official hospital doctors on the physician's committee channel. This channel recently uploaded many doctor's interviews. The issue, like many - is that they don't want to change who they are as a person. Only when they're open to it will they head in that direction! Until then, we both know better and will be ready for when they are! And one day you may end up needing to.

they are so beautiful and seem so happy! i’ve been slightly pushing my dad to go whole food plant based vegan. he’s on multiple prescriptions and he’s already had surgeries on his heart in the past and had his appendix removed. he goes on daily walks and wonders why he’s not losing any weight. it’s the food!!! i recently saw paperwork from his doctors saying that he’s pre-diabetic... but he told me his blood work has been coming back good. GOOD HOW?! i know he’s stuck in his ways and afraid of change but he won’t even try. all i want is for him to try! he loves cooking so much and i think he'd have a ball making new recipes and recreating his unhealthy meals into healthy plant based vegan versions! i’ve been mostly raw whole-food plant-based vegan for 6 and 1/2 months now and i’ve never felt so full of peace, happiness, and health!

So 21 minutes in and this is a fantastic interview Here’s the question that’s coming up and I know this Hass to be a conflict of interest for them… What are meals on wheels feeding those seniors because I know darn well it isn’t what they need and they know that too so even though it seems on the surface that it’s helpful it’s actually counter to that because we’re just perpetuating the problem I think honestly What these two should be doing in order to be a service it should be running a meet and greet and throwing vegan parties for the seniors in their community and if they needed to charge a cover charge per person it would help these people to get out of their homes if possible transportation could be arranged I know some people are homebound and can’t get out but people would have a chance to see how they live their life and how the changes they have made have benefited them they can actually be educational at that time they can have a bunch of pamphlets or posters which give them pertinent information about the foods that they are consuming on regular basis there could also be information about what chicken does because she mentioned in the very beginning of the video how eating chicken could be so harmful. That’s coming from the doctor or the nutritionist actually that did that meet and greet beginning of her journey Honestly I think that they would be better serving their community by being pillars rather than followers and going with a program that hasn’t worked isn’t working and is perpetuating an issue that needs to be addressed is imagine how many of those health issues those people who are now homebound could alleviate and how maybe it could change their circumstance entirely

We agree that the Meals On Wheels food could be more healthful. However, if these shut-in did not get these meals, many would not be able to get any food. @@AskBobnFran I understand that I truly do and I get that there’s a lot more to it them just the physical needs of the body it’s just like sick children or disowned or orphan children who have been proven to die without any love or attention and animals are the same man we are a species that needs connection however I feel like you guys are prime examples of doing something really significant in your community that may or may not at some point include those people who are shut ends. It just is under my skin that they should eat trash instead of eating food that are nutritious to them and if the meals are being provided for them I’m sure that that be grateful for whatever is made and they’re are plenty of vegan options that can be given to them and if they’re truly hungry they’ll eat it That might sound a little on her side and truly that’s not how I mean it but to be able to provide meals for them that are actually beneficial and could help them to start feeling better maybe even be more mobile as in your case, I think it’s a win-win situation that should be explored I know there’s a lot of people in the community that would stand behind you and perhaps even help with finding meaning people making donations to make things happen to build momentum and then it takes on a life of its own eventually the community might be contributing and there’s also local see essays that can be of benefit I personally feel like it’s possible and if you’re looking in the right places and talking to the right people eventually somehow it will be figured out

These lifestyles are always easier for people who live in a nice bigger home with good bit of land around them to walk in beauty for exercise. You need money to buy the food, and time to cook food all day. If you lived in a poor area were you are a prisoner in your own home. It very scary to go out if you are sick, weak, almost cripple to go to the store and get back home without getting shot.Even getting to the doctor office by bus is very difficult.
@VeganLinked

actually, beans, rice, etc. are the least expensive foods on the plants and have a long shelf life. with a little planning you can cook and prep several days worth of foods in one afternoon. It does take more effort but what else is more important than you're own health? People waste time watching tv, doing drugs, just being lazy, heck, they'll spend more time going out to a fast food place to get something cheap when they could have made something healthy at home for the same price in almost the same amount of time. But, it takes learning, practice, and desire. It may not be easy in the beginning but nothing great is just easy in the beginning. And once you overcome this challenge you can help others and before you know it you're building community and taking your life to another level, maybe even monetizing it.

Befriend someone who is successful at eating plants. Or find a plant based doctor in case you have questions. Or feel free to call me, send me a message first wfpb@veganlinked.com. really though, simply eat more and a variety of beans, greens, whole grains, fruits, veggies, mushrooms, nuts, and seeds. The Daily Dozen is a great app. Our tast buds can change in just a few months. So learn to love these healthy foods even if you don't now you eventually will. There's endless variety amongst the 10s of thousands of edible plants. And endless ways to prepare and spice things up :)

Most people that eat whole plant foods don't consume anything processed. So no salt, flour, oil, animal, etc. Nuts, seeds, olives, etc are a great source of fat. All healthy things in moderation so you can get a proper variety within each category of beans, greens, grains, fruits, veggies, mushrooms, nuts, seeds, herbs and spices.

Great question. It's really hard to know what is going on without really knowing all the details about you what you used to eat and what you're trying to eat now. It's best to see a dietitian or a nutritionist or a doctor that is plant based if you have questions or concerns. Generally I recommend people check out the daily dozen app by nutritionfacts.org. it is easy, free, and back by the most comprehensive meta-analysis on nutritional science. In short; eat beans, greens, grains, fruits, veggies, mushrooms, nuts, seeds, herbs and spices and eat a variety of each. Salads are the most important meal of the day with a variety of greens, some legumes, and whatever else you can through it the mix. Some people start off with a kale smooth, some fruit, some start the day with soup, some with leftovers, I start the day usually with groat oats, dates, blueberries, Ceylon cinnamon, clove, cardamom, etc. I may change that up though and eat that for dinner instead depending on what fruit or greens I have. Remember to get a variety of each. Some people eat a different legume and/or grain every day. Some mix a variety together and eat it all together. Of course greens like red leaf lettuce, butter lettuce, romaine, and cruciferous like arugula, bok choy, kale, purple cabbage, etc...

There usually is a learning curve. Just keep it fun and keep learning. Find like minding people. If you're transitioning from a really bad diet and lifestyle into a healthier one then you may have more to learn and you may go through some detoxing. It sounds like you're on the right track though. If you need help finding a doctor maybe try plantbased telehealth

I also know people been on plant diet and after 15 or 10 years they had to go back to animal protein, their appearance and b vitamins levels went low. how you explain that? thanks
@VeganLinked
@VeganLinked 2 жыл бұрын
Could be several things. I ask the plant based doctors this. In short, detox and acclimation. Think about it like a drug addict. They come up with all kinds of reasons to keep doing their deadly behavior. Smokers say they need to smoke as if fresh air is bad for them. Detox is a real thing. Some of the long term vegans I've interviewed experienced this in the beginning. Also, you don't just get on a plane wmand start flying without proper instruction. People raised eating whole plant foods know how to eat this way without thinking about it. People raised eating bad just don't know how to eat healthy. Many vegans, like myself, that didn't have transitional issues already ate mostly plants. So when I finally went vegan in 2011 I just stopped eating animals. For the first 5 years I had significant improvements but it wasn't until 2016 that I started learning about nutrition and eating more whole foods. Physiologically this was easy because I already had the metabolism to take on more of the healthier foods. I got a little carried away with it though still and was eating too much too frequently and this made me have some stomach discomfort. Then I learned to eat only during the day and allow my body time to do what it needs to do in a postabsorptive states. Since then everything has been perfect. If I veer off and lose discipline I notice. But the more I eat to live and don't live to eat, use food as fuel to do great things, the best I feel. Intermittent fasting helps.
@VeganLinked
@VeganLinked 2 жыл бұрын
Also, you don't know anyone who "had to go back to eating animal protein". All the amino acids our DNA needs to build the proteins our body need come from plants. If someone told you otherwise then they're either misinformed or lying.

When they process the grain they strip away nutrients and fiber making what is left too easy to absorb too fast. I have never met or heard of anyone who "can't" eat plants. And when I inquire with the leading professionals in nutrition about if there is anyone that can't eat plants they consistently confirm that every can eat plants. There may be some rare anomalies that have easy to overcome small exceptions. But it's not likely. The healthiest foods are beans, greens, grains, fruits, veggies, mushrooms, nuts and seeds, herbs and spices. If you are not use to eating a variety of each of these then you may need to simply acclimate to these healthiest foods. No one is suggesting dairy or high fructose corn syrup at all, of course those are not good. Consult with a plant-based nutritionist, dietician, or physician if you are having difficulties. From what you're saying I imagine you may just need to slowly introduce these foods to build up your microbiome and metabolic pathways toward eating them. For example introducing one fraction of a serving and increasing that slowly day by day. Fasting may help under some clinical supervision, especially intermittent. Check out PlantBasedTelehealth.com of you need help finding a physician. The American College of Lifestyle Medicine or Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine may have some resources too. There's also retreats like Hippocrates Wellness and more intense programs like True North, and many others.

@@VeganLinked I said ''I cannot eat most plants'' I didn't so no plants. Root vegetables are ok. As for this '' when I inquire with the leading professionals in nutrition about if there is anyone that can't eat plants they consistently confirm that every can eat plants.'' your so called ''leading professionals'' are clueless . Ask anyone with IBS and they'll tell you the same thing I'm telling you, '' you may need to simply acclimate to these healthiest foods'' You really are ignorant in what your saying here. You don't have IBS, do you? so you don't know what it's like. If you eat something like an apple or even half an apple or an onion, it triggers diarrhoea, this doesn't simple go away the next day but sometimes it takes a couple of weeks to settle down. Usually once it's triggered the next stage is a type of constipation, where you feel that you have diarrhoea but when you go to the toilet very little comes out, what does come out is diarrhoea. If it continues for long enough you end up with hemorrhoids, (the sting in the tale or the salt in the wound). So there is no acclimatising, none. I'm typical so you can tell your experts they should talk to people with it rather speculate what should be like. By the way there is no cure. The strange thing is people like you would rather believe some 'so called expert' because it suites your narrative than someone who actually has IBS. Basically your calling me a liar and the 20% of the population who have IBS, you don't understand or want know how debilitating it can be if you don't watch what you're eating. Imagine trying to hold down a job with that to contend with. Look up FODMAP.

Yeah, whole plant foods exclusively such as legumes, greens, grains, fruits, veggies, mushrooms, nuts, seeds, herbs and spices and a variety of each is best. But also, personally i find i do best only eating only within an 8 hour window or less and fast the other 16 or more. And not eating late! And not eating too much. But that's because I was having too much fun with food for a while and it messed me up making it hard to sleep. When I am disciplined I do excellent!
