Hospitals, doctors offices and schools should be places where good nutrition is taught and provided not places that contribute to disease and obesity. It is crazy the hospitals are feeding people the very food that caused the heart disease, high blood pressure or cancer that they are treating. Every person in the hospital should receive some nutrition education before being released. Every doctor visit should be an opportunity to educate patients about how food choices impacts their health outcomes. The fact that doctors do not get nutrition training as part of their training makes no sense. Medicare and Medicaid should require nutrition education as part of patient care. Focus should be on food choices.

I still after 15 years follow the advice from Fuhrman and Greger. Life quality has improved a lot. Eating and drinking has got a bit more boring but definitely worth it. No medicine no doctors no hospitals so happy. Thanks guys.

Thank you Dr Fuhrman. Years ago, in 2011, I followed your Eat to Live program to help get rid of my blood pressure meds. I worked with my supporting doctor. I monitored my blood pressure and my doctor slowly weaned me off and told me when to cut down to half a pill. One day my blood pressure was 90/60 and she called me at work to stop taking the meds immediately ... which I had already because she told me what level to watch out for ... because of your program, and my supporting doctor, I am still free from taking blood pressure pills. I am far from being perfect and still need to lose weight and eat better ... I am still trying.

He is the Best. Follow him for over 20 Years and his message is solid. Three weeks ago I went total vegan again and follow his advice. I added raw milk kefir and eggs, back in January 2023, thinking it would be a good idea. Had bloodwork and my LDL was slightly higher and I gained 5 lbs. I switched immediately and lost the 5lbs in the first 2 weeks, following his tips. Ditched the oil as well. I feel so good and summer here in Texas is the right time to start this back up again :))

Well concerning the PREDIMED study, the figures he gives seems to be completely wrong. There was not much difference between the group that had the olive oil ( RR=0.69 ) and nuts ( RR=0.72 ) for CVD events. For CV death, the group on OO fared much better. It had a RR for CV death of 0.62 whereas those on nuts had a RR of 1.02, so more than the control group. As for all cause mortality, those on the olive oil had less mortality than the control ( RR=0.90 ) whereas those in the nuts group has more mortality than the control group ( RR=1.12 ).

I want to give some hope and comfort to some of those who might be over-eaters: you can still -- I'm experiencing this -- do at least some detoxing while frequently eating practically non-stop from 3 or 4pm to, I don't know, 7pm or something. I've been whole foods, primarily plant-based for over 30 years (sometimes more pure than other times but fundamentally pure) but in the week since starting Fuhrman's "28-Day Challenge" where I shifted from lots of wholesome starches to lots of vegs -- raw and cooked -- and a handful of nuts and 1-2 cups of beans (and three pieces of fruit, minimum) every day, I think I'm experiencing a diminution of arthritis pain -- in just a week! -- but, so far, a truly remarkable thing has been how the whites of my fingernails turned dark as if I'd been gardening or futzing with India ink. It must have been some kind of cleanse; the dark came on about Day 2. One week into the Nutritarian Challenge, the whites on one hand are dramatically back to clean- and white-looking, and the other hand is about 50% cleared up. (Wow! Makes me hopeful about the arthritis!) Has anyone else experienced anything like this? (I wish I could find a local MD who was interested in studying someone eating healthfully like this!) My fingernails also got a lot stronger. Though always strong since going WFPB, three fingers had had chronic weaknesses, and those have disappeared. In just a week! This is amazing! So I hope that someday I shall be able to give up having to be chewing all the latter part of the day and my stomach pretty full before I stop, but meanwhile, very good things are happening anyway! Fuhrman's the man!

Nearly everything you have said makes perfect sense but one argument remains that I have yet to receive a satisfying answer. If Dr. Esselstyn errs in saying no nuts, please elaborate with references. Some no oil, no added salt, no added sugar, whole plant food vegans have said their LDL dropped further when they quit eating nuts and they specified the nuts as not roasted, not processed walnuts and cashews. One more thing, aside from apheresis or Repatha or some burgeoning, experimental pharmaceutical, are those with elevated lp(a) nevertheless doomed to a shorter life. Also, considering the plethora of atherogenic particles, what of the plant based, Nitric Oxide promoting, "endothelial fortress" creating immunity to these particles? One last question: are there significant differences in populations regarding conversion of plant ALA to Omega 3 compared to supplements and of those supplements, purified animal source or strictly algal?
@RichS.73yroldbodybuilder
@RichS.73yroldbodybuilder Жыл бұрын
Dr Esseltyn”s main concern is people with advanced heart disease ,they do not need extra oil from the nuts that’s primarily his goal is to get these people back to normal .Eating seeds does not do this. For a healthy person this is not an issue it’s actually preventative.

There is something to be said about living to be old and being a healthy vigorous active older person. Being able to live a quality life with more quantity, not quantity without the quality.. why wouldn’t you try eating healthy do a 30-90 day test perfectly if it does not work you have lost nothing…… go back to eating the diet you choose or try each plant based diet version if non of them work for you then you are the anomaly.. i am betting you will feel better and may have a different outlook, but i can say from experience it does not work if you dabble in both worlds…. You have to go all in unprocessed, whole foods plant based diet, plenty of cooked and raw fruits and veggies potatoes and rice.. nothing else, it works😊😘😍🥰😊

Just listen to a bunch of lectures by Dr. Fuhrman. If you get on the diet you don’t have to worry about getting diabetes. So you’re preventing vs trying to fix something that’s broken. You’re just a little broken now if you get diabetes you’re very broken. That doesn’t mean it can”t be fixed but why not do it before instead of after.💪🏻

Health care costs are out of control. Going WFPB vegan can save money, pain and suffering from disease. Lower your chance of high blood pressure, heart disease and cancer by going vegan.

@ 20:30 he talks a little about dressings. That could give you some ideas. I use spices, lemon /lime juice, miso, tomato based sauces. There are lots of recipes online, and some great cooking shows, too. Switching to this way of eating little by Iittle, I noticed that I started craving the healthier options and the "old" stuff tasted gross.

I really don't understand the moderate calorie recommendation, I mean, if one eats solely of unprocessed produce, isn't it practically impossible to consume excess calories? Like do you see any animals in the wild getting fat? I don't.
