I had to go with what I felt best, but neither option was what I wanted.

It's all about "protecting the brand". It's a scenario where it will make or break some dealers with their regular customers. A dealer that treats me normally will now get my business, whereas the people I dealt with on this watch most certainly will not. They won't care about that, but I won't shop somewhere I dislike.

Watch Hobbyist thank you for your reply. i have done abit of reserch on line rolex started the etching the logo crown into the glass from 2001 and still do, i think you need a loupe or magnifying glass to see it at 6 o clock position on rolex watches from 2001. enjoyed your review thanks

Your new Rolex SD doesn't have a laser etched coronet (crown) on the sapphire crystal at 6 ? I just bought a new Yachtmaster Everose with Oysterflex rubber strap from a Rolex AD this last March. Using my jewelers loop, the new Yachtmaster has the laser etching. Maybe my Yachtmaster sat in the AD's shop for a year or so tho.

Sorry scrub my last reply. I just looked at a different angle and it's there on the SD43. So they definitely still have this feature.

A year is even more silly. The deposit idea is okay IF they can guarantee the watch within a certain period, but I very much doubt they can as they generally don't know how many they'll get and when.

I've had the ROOD and I can't recommend it. Very large in terms of lug to lug, terrible lume and even worse timekeeping in my experience

They're very similar overall but the Deepsea is heavier and larger

Ray Shade if you liked the deep sea , you will love this one it have a perfect size , and its not that thick, its more comfortable 👍🏻 maybe about 15% to 20% lighter

It happening all over the place to try and stop online flipping which is a huge issue as dealers are seeing them appear on eBay for 12k. My local dealer won't do it as they say its insulting the customers although they cleverly tend to prioritise long standing customers on the lists. I think if you know the dealer well and perhaps have bought before they might treat you differently.

I see what you’re saying. I generally don’t like super large disks though, as they wear larger, and I have a small wrist

@@WatchHobbyist agreed, smaller wrists need smaller watches. But for larger wrists, if you're going to release a larger case, you might as well make everything proportional and offer a larger dial. I bought the SD43 back in 2017 and that's my only criticism of the piece, it needs a 30mm dial IMHO.

MrDannyg321 that was at the very least one of things I said. I got my point across without a doubt but wanted the watch 👍👍

The thing is, I don't expect my ass to be kissed; I just wanted the normal of level of service most people would expect, and I don't feel I got it. The tool-look of the SD is very different to the GMT you're right. I still wear my GMT all the time and I think once you become accustomed to the way those watches look, it takes a lot for anything to replace it, SD included.

Watch Hobbyist this attitude surrounding Rolex is why Rolex owners have such a shit reputation.

In researching and buying my Rolex watches I have been to dealers in Canada, the UK and in various states in the US. I cannot ever recall one being rude or dickish to me. I've probably been to 20 or so.

I'm not sure what your point is Alex. I'm a 'VIP' customer of the AD I bought my Rolex from, and once you are a 'VIP' they will let you order watches over the phone with your sales person, or sign up for a waiting list. They won't do this unless you have purchased a watch from them in person, then they 'know' you and trust you to talk on the phone. But it kind of makes sense that they would give preferential treatment to their existing customers over strangers. They were perfectly nice to me before I became a customer though.

At least in my area they are all pretty dumb as well! They think the product they sell is the best thing on the market! I love walking in when I’m around an AD just to see if they have the “new” Daytona or seadweller wearing a Grand Seiko on the wrist! I can see the eyeballs scoping out the hardware and the mental “oh it’s a Seiko so he can’t afford a Rolex” thought process through their heads! Then I proceed to ask them a simple question. “Did Rolex decrease the magnifiactiln on their Cyclopes?” They say “no, our rep would have told us if that was the case”. So I say oh ok...”then I point to two watches and ask why they are different magnifiacion levels?” And they turn red in the fade and go “we have never seen this before.. maybe it’s just this piece... and I say no go take a look around the case you will see”!! Then I leave! That’s for anyone wanting to see that Rolex is not perfect! They released a mass amount of watches with less than 2.5x mag and removed the verbiage from their website! They can’t recall so many watches as it would be a huge marketing hit so they proceed to sell them as the general fool that buys a Rolex has no idea wtf they are buying!!!! I know because I had two submariners at one point, the regular black ceramic and he hulk and I put them side by side and saw there was a massive difference in the date mag! I since sold them and will look closely next time!

They have no issues with how their dealerships sell to customers. In other words, they're happy about the practise in order to protect their brand.

Not at all, you won't find the new Sea Dweller for less money pre-owned at this time. People that flip them are expecting thousands over retail.

Stupid? Most people are buying these and selling them online for 3 grand more the demand is that high! Even a year later!
