I saw this while on the Sweetwater site. I was about to buy a new Schecter Omen Elite, but this caught my eye. Since receiving this guitar, I'm absolutely loving it. For its features and quality, it is actually a great deal. It has become my new favorite.

I ran across the crimson red one used at my local guitar shop for $500 it was just brought in by a regular customer and told them to sell it for him on consignment without giving how much he wanted for it but pluged it in and played it and was like wow! This thing sounds great looks great went home and did some research on and off you tube and seen and heard how versatile it is with the pickups in it so this weekend i went to play it again was like this guitar is awsome!😀❤ So i went in today put money down ! @@onevoiceinc I got it... I wasn't happy with the hardware nor the tonal output, personally. The switch wobbled and the pots weren't very responsive. It sounded tinny or something to my ear. Not chimmy tho, as one might describe and expect from a Fender. I usually play Les Paul's or PRS's (Tremonti and Custom 24 models). I did like the neck and the jumbo frets. Felt like I could play her all night long as far as weight too! I have to admit, I'm no guitar tone aficionado but, unfortunately, it just didn't cut the mustard for me. I sent it back to Sweetwater.

I picked one up about 7 years ago for $500. Wasn’t expecting to walk out with a Fender that day because for one, they’re usually expensive, and also because I was very into “super-strats” at the time (ESP, Jackson, etc). This guitar blew me away. It had the feel, playability, big humbucker sound, and look of those super-strats, with the appeal and beautiful single coil sounds of a tele (thanks to that super handy coil-tap). To date the most versatile guitar I’ve ever played. Just bought a second one this week for $850. Any time you can grab one for under $1000 is a total steal in my opinion. Love the black cherry burst finish too!

First electric? That's exciting! I only wish this could've been my first electric. (My first was a horrible Sysonics brand $100 guitar back in the 80s, made out of fiberglass. Hahaha.) Needless to say, electric (in general) is easier to play when you're transitioning from acoustic... but this particular one might even spoil you. If you are transitioning from acoustic to electric, you'll probably want to focus on palm muting. That's one of the biggest differences between the two instruments. :) Wishing you great success in your journey!

Went over to Colorado Springs with my landlord to guitar shop several months ago.I had my mind on a Performer Series Tele but the only ones there had maple fingerboards which I'm not a fan of. At the last store we stopped at I saw one of these in amber on the wall. As soon as it touched my hands I knew I was buying it. Had to tinker with the setup a little but that was no problem. At the price I was able to buy a hardshell case and saved a chunk of $$$. The flatter radius on the fretboard make this super playable. The folks in Indonesia do excellent work as the fit and finish is flawless. I can see why Cort does builds for the top brands.You can't go wrong having one of these in your rack.

Love the body contour and lighter weight, but the neck is definitely not for everyone.

@vindieseldouble 3 жыл бұрын
@@Creaulx I appreciate your response! I spoke with my sales engineer over at Sweetwater about this. It sounds like this FMT with the '59 Duncan Seymour and Pearly Gates pickups is kind of a Les Paul type feel and tone with some pretty hot pickups whereas the AP II is more versatile and like you mentioned, a "forever" guitar. I'm still glad I'm waiting for the American Professional II Telecaster. I'll be 47 this Summer, so I get what you're saying about the weight. I'm always looking for more ergonomic ways to sit or stand and play in my recording/playing office/studio now that I have neck and back issues, but that's another subject. I picked up a Stratocaster Player Edition with triple single coils to jam on in the meantime and as a complement to the Telecaster when it arrives.

It gets *only slightly* complicated. At that time, I was running that video (and other videos) through my Boss Katana 100W, and the setting was based on a Fender Twin. I posted the settings in another video. My settings are posted verbatim on that video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/arVhp9dixKmXin0.htmlsi=qsU2ZKvwsds72jia Since then, I bought a Marshall DSL40. My settings on that video (the Marshall dsl review) were right behind me on the amp (with a couple of delay pedals). Since that video, I also purchased a Blackstar Amped 3 (which I have been running into my Marshall's return jack), and that video has those settings including the pedals I'm running lately. I'll say I'm planning to purchase a Fender Bassbreaker 30r later this year, and I'll be posting those settings in some form or fashion. Aside from that, I use my middle pickup setting (the bridge and neck combined) often. That's pretty much my sound. Hopefully this was helpful. Let me know if I answered your question satisfactorily. :)

Cool video and demo. Is your FMT one of the newer Indonesian made ones (I'm assuming so, vs. the older Korean made ones). In terms of the neck profile, I understand it is on the "thinner" side (which I would prefer) along with a flatter radius and jumbo frets. If you have played a PRS SE Custom 24 with a "wide thin" neck profile, how would you compare the FMT to the PRS? And no issues with neck dive, right?
@onevoiceinc
@onevoiceinc 3 жыл бұрын
It's made in Indonesia (which should mean it's been made by Cort). With the neck, all I really have for comparison are my Schecter Banshee, two ESP's (mh201 and mh400), and a Yamaha Pacifica 612vii (the latter is closer to a fatter Strat type neck). The fmt feels like those thinner necks I'm used to. As far as neck dive, I'm not entirely familiar with the term. (I'd need more info.)

@@onevoiceinc neck dive occurs when you are wearing the guitar with a strap and don’t touch or hold the guitar, it “dives” towards the neck (because the neck is heavy and the body is light). Gibson SGs often have neck dive. If the guitar is balanced, it sits nicely when wearing it.

Something I might add here. I got mine second-hand and it needs some fret levelling. The guy I bought it from told me in advance and to be honest, while there is a slight muting around the 12th fret on the bottom three strings, it is barely noticeable when plugged in. The point is, I took it to the local shop who looked at it and swore blind nothing could be done because the truss rod could not be adjusted. I got suspicious and when I went to the shop this morning, I picked up a flat head screw driver and, lo and behold, said truss rod can be adjusted. It is entirely possible that some, or all, of these guitars has a truss rod that requires a flat head not an allen key.

My frets were/are great. After a year of owning it, I want a second one (either the crimson red or the yellow just to have it). Hoping my job gives a great Christmas bonus this year. Someone in the comments had mentioned a while back that the frets could've been polished a little better on his particular guitar (which may have been missed by quality control people), but overall mine is still my favorite. It's the first guitar I reach for, and hands down, it's the most diverse guitar I have ever owned. I recently lowered the neck pickup by 3 turns and raised the pole pieces up the same distance, and it sounds even better. Doing that brightened it (tightened the tone) a tiny bit without losing that wonderful neck pickup sound.

This is my first non-tremolo (non-Floyd Rose more specifically) guitar in at least twenty years (literally), so I get what you're saying. I'll say, though, the lack of tremolo has actually been quite refreshing. Total change of pace for me. It *is* nice to have available options, though.

@onevoiceinc 3 жыл бұрын
Believe it or not, it was a Boss Katana 100W. They're very responsive, and with the right tweaking, you can dial in pretty much anything. My main sound is based on a '59 Marshall with a Tube Screamer... all internal (amp, delay, reverb, EQ, etc). As someone who likes an easy load in and set up, it's become my go to lately. All you need is your guitar, a cable, and the amp. Loving it. :)

@@onevoiceinc Thanks for the great demo. And Katana... I have the good fortune to have some of the best, big-name amps, but my 100w Katana hangs right there with any of them. And if you look around KZfaq, so many top, respected players (who know "tone" a lot better than I do) have Katanas. Great amp. And very cool, unique FMT HH guitar.

How funny..I have a Schecter Omen Extreme and in looking to buy the Tele FMT HH! Do you still like your FMT? Does it sound anything like a traditional telecaster? Thank you for the review:)
@onevoiceinc
@onevoiceinc 3 жыл бұрын
Great minds think alike, hahahaha. (And thanks for the kind words.) I absolutely love the Tele FMT. As far as comparison to a standard tele, I'm not the best source for that, only because I've often avoided Fender products (up until now) due to the trebley tones they often have (I'm a fan of more warm mahogany sounds) but I can say it can come very close to matching the Schecter while still sounding like its own thing. The Pearly Gates pickup with the 59 give it a slightly bluesier sound while still being able to be 100% percent rock. I've also used it on an upbeat jazz tune I'll hopefully be doing a video for up the road, and the diversity of tones was insane. I never thought I'd say that when I first hit the "buy now" button back in December, but it's become my new favorite guitar. It's light weight, sounds amazing, has lots of tone options, and just feels great. Hopefully that helps. :) Oh, and I'm eventually going to want to get a second FMT, probably in the amber color (but maybe the solid red, not sure). It's just a great playing guitar.

Why do they insist on putting coil split on Pafs? Half a PAF is all but useless, i don't know why they don't make them taps and keep some of the coil like PRS does? It's not any more difficult to wire; use a resistor to ground the coil instead of a wire, the difference in cost is literally pennies, i mean how much is a 1-2K ohm resistor cost?
@onevoiceinc
@onevoiceinc 3 жыл бұрын
I like that idea, and yeah I have to agree... especially for live applications. The split coils are only good tinkering around in the practice room at home. Otherwise you would disappear in a mix.
@timwhite5562
@timwhite5562 3 жыл бұрын
@@onevoiceinc I've had more than a few people tell me how they normally don't use coil split even if they come equipped with them, but that the PRS not only sounds better, but a few tell me they've been using it in the singlecoil more over normal. It doesn't sound exactly like a single coil, but neither do split PAFs. I've done splits with pickups like Fralin high outputs that really sound good split, but they were designed too. I normally go the other way with coil taps. On semihollows and Singlecut, instead of wiring it so that it removes most of the coil but leaves 20-25% active, I'll use a higher value so it shuts off 30-40% and keeps 60-70% of the coil on. So instead of humbucker/singlecoil, it's more Bright/Full. That sounds more like a P90 or mini humbucker.

Thanks!! Unfortunately, I recorded this review video prior to buying my new camera, so the color is far more dull than in real life... due to recording it on my cell phone. The new camera (and the video I posted this past weekend) captures the color and detail the way it really looks. All videos from here on will be filmed on the Canon camera. :) . I say all this to say when you see one of these in person, it's gorgeous. What color Banshee did you get? =) They're great guitars.

@@simonc61 I've seen the black cherry burst version in person, and it's so eye catching. I would love one myself. I actually considered buying one off Reverb this past Christmas. Now, cameras (my latest obsession). I got the Canon G7X mk2 after watching countless video reviews (and the pros and cons of each). Ultimately, I ~plan~ to do more indoors/lower light and night time recording, so the G7X seemed to be the best choice at the time. I'm still learning it, but I'm BLOWN AWAY at the results so far. Still watching videos constantly to learn how to get better faster, so hopefully it'll pay off. As far as video, you should. It's its own unique thing, and you definitely learn as you go. You might be surprised to know that I'm not the best at being in front of a camera. (Thank God for editing software! Lol). Often times I'll have to sift through twenty minutes of video "um" sounds and goofs to find the few seconds of keeper material. I'm getting a ~little~ better, but I still have a ways to go. My goal is to eventually to capture my easy going silly nature in everyday life in my videos, but at the moment, I'm still a bit more stiff in front of the camera. It is all a process. It's fun, though.... and when something actually helps someone, it's the best reward ever. If you ever do some video, give me a shout so I can check it out. (Hey, that rhymed!)

@@onevoiceinc Yes I’m going to keep an eye out for the Black cherry one now. I sent you a photo of my Banshee on Messenger btw. I’m the same with cameras too, did use to earn my living as a photographer. I’ve heard a lot of people use the G7x for KZfaq, vlogging etc. I’m trying to learn Davinci Resolve at the moment, complicated but got to start somewhere. I’ve just bought a new phone, a Xaomi which can do 4 and 8K video which is crazy so I’ve got no excuse now. I enjoyed your playing and humour in your videos - I also just found your blog so I’ll be having a look through that. I’ve been playing about 47 years - and I’ve been told I’m a good player - but apart from a few lessons I never learnt much theory and it’s held me back over the years. I wish I’d really applied myself when I was younger! I’ll let you know if I get round to finally doing a video. I guess it’s a vanity thing with me, up to 10 years ago when I was 50 I hadn’t really aged too badly, then out of the blue I had a son. It hasn’t gone too well - I don’t live with him and his mother now and there’s a stressful legal situation going on at the moment. I just hate seeing myself in photos or videos nowadays but if I can get over that - watch this space! Cheers.
