Why do people have such an issue discerning a cake from a plug? A cake is compressed ribbon - a plug, layered whole leaf. How tight or compressed the block is is irrelevant. You always cut a plug, so as to yield the full spectrum of leaf by taking from each layer. A cake you can prepare whatever floats your boat.

i have a tin of this in my cellar that i was given with a trade. been tempted to crack it open, but i also don't mind sitting on it and letting it age more (it's got between 1-2 years on it). nice review. seems like something i will likely enjoy once i crack it. but, with 30 odd open jars at the moment, i'm not in a huge rush to crack another. the only thing really enticing me to try it is the fact it's a plug. i currently only have one plug that i've tried (gaslight), which is excellent, but i've been more into virginia blends as of late. thanks for your thoughts!

High dollar pipe 1 dollar bic

I'm wondering if Temple Bar is similar to Embarcadero but, with Perique. Anyone have any thoughts on that? Embarcadero is my favorite blend. So, I know I would love it if it's similar. But if it's anything as dull as Telegraph Hill, I don't even want to try it.

I smoke GL Pease Regents Flake which is the Flake/Crumble version of Temple Bar. Same components. Works well early morning and in hot weather

Awesome timing... I was just in Temple Bar, Dublin having a pint and a pipe about an hour ago!

Do you consider that using a "high end pipe" vs lets say a $45 dollar Rossi or lower $$ peterson smokes any better or makes the Tobacco taste different? I'm just trying to digest why bother spending so much money on a pipe (say 150+ dollars) if there is no other reason than looks.

Peterson dunhill blends are in!!!!

Bradley, I don’t know if you were aware of this or not. I did not know until I was going through PipesandCigars.com. But, Peterson has recently begun releasing Dunhill’s former blends. It seems that Peterson bought the rights to the names, and art. Whether or not it’s the exact blends I don’t know, thought it was an avenue worth looking into. Especially because I know your a big fan of the Dunhill blends, perhaps you could review these and give us your input.
