Review - Kvetun “Capo Ferro” Rapier

In this video our instructor Rui talks a little about his 3 Kvetun Armory Rapiers with special focus on the "Capo Ferro" rapier he won in the 2018 contest held by the swordsmith.
Huge thanks to Alex Stankiewicz from Kvetun Armory as well as to the HEMA community for voting in the winning design. The end result was spot on for what we Capo Ferro practitioners were looking for.

Cool rapier design. Reminds me a bit of the British Pattern 1788 basket hilt sword.

I can absolutely see the resemblence, wouldn't be all too surprised if it was inspired by early 17th century italian swept hilt rapiers. There's always something that branches out the design. And I wouldn't be at all surprised if it had any impact on the french cuirassier pallasch.

To prevent blades from hitting your hand through the guard rings, you can install a leather lining.

I think it was just a one time occurrence. I've taken this one to multiple events, and never happened again, so I guess I spoke too soon.

Interesting review, got my Peppenheimer from Kvetun some time ago and can fully agree with the 'sturdy' comment. My rapier also have the 'strong' blade. I also agree with the observation that everything is a tad larger than it should or could be. Finally, I also found the handle a bit too long. My final bit of feedback was around the tip - yours is rolled, mine swollen and it's less safe for intensive sparring.

Happy that I've managed to be as impartial as I could. Swollen tip or rounded tip, is just a personal preference, even when it's rolled it's always best to tip it just in case. Accidents can happen and it's something that's been long overdue. I don't believe my blade is the stiff model but I would be curious to see how it would compare to the rest.

Kvetun Sucks bad quality swords breaks easily

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. Have you gotten in touch with them regarding this? Seems like a faulty batch. We have around 6 swords from them all in very good condition after years of sparring. This of course doesn't exclude bad issues, we may just have been lucky.

Well in those cases, if reasonable communication doesn't get the job done, nothing better than bringing out to the public, companies hate bad rep. And although I've had nothing but a good experience with them, I know some might not be that fortunate. If the sword was within warranty, a replacement should've been made.
