REVIEW: MOZA Mini P Gimbal 3 Axis Stabilizer - How to Setup and Calibrate, Use, and Pack away.

My most recent addition to my Vlogging gear is the Moza Mini P 3 axis gimbal stabilizer ( amzn.to/2Wbpaza ) . My video shows how to setup, disassemble, and use the Moza Mini-P gimbal.

The Moza Mini-P is very advanced and but simple to use for action cameras, small mirrorless cameras, smartphones, and small camcorders. It can handle cameras up to 900 g (1.9 pounds) in weight. For my larger cell phone i used a Ulanzi metal cell phone holder: amzn.to/2O1wXzk
Setting up the Moza Mini-P had a difficult learning curve as the included instructions are printed so small its difficult to read. I relied on KZfaq videos to learn how to calibrate the gimbal, but found it easier just trying it out. The setup was difficult the first time and took me about 10 minutes at first, not it takes me about 3 minutes to setup and calibrate.
I have been using it for over 2 weeks and on average use it for about 6 to 9 hours at a time, basically a day's worth of video work - on and off. It is rated for 20 hours of and has a USB - C port for charging.
The Moza Mini P can be controlled with the Moza app to control special movement features, remote control of select compact cameras, and object tracking. For my purposes, I am using the Moza Mini P for smoother video footage during my travels and for product photography. So I will probably not use the special features until later. The gimbal stabilization works very well on my non-stabilized cameras and smartphones and has been reliable.
I comes with a nice foam case, however the gimbal, when folded down can be locked and placed in a smaller bag. I normally travel light and will wrap the camera and gimbal in a microfiber towel in my messenger bag when not in use. When transporting, it will fully disassemble and place it in its custom foam box.
Overall, this is the perfect addition to a vlogger's toolbox for creating better video with lest post-production work. Especially, they are seriously considering vlogging and video work.

Thank you so much. I tried other videos (including the manufactuer's "tutorial") and they were filmed in dark rooms so I had no idea what they were showing and/or with cuts that skipped transitions between the steps. I appreciate you actually explaining the steps in a well lit area.

Thanks so much for this video! I watched several, including the Moza one and just got more and more frustrated! Got my ZV-1 all balanced with a Ulanzi Claw tripod mount on the L bracket so all I have to do is attach the camera to the mount! Thanks again for ending my frustration and helping me get this all balanced and working right!

I've been using Moza Mini P with Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra (512gb), Android phone with Nillkin CamShield Armor case. For Android people out there, the gimbal works well with this setup, and I'm not using the Moza Genie or Moza Master -apps because I need mostly just the different stabilizing modes and joystick that this gimbal gives. You don't even need to make a Bluetooth connection between your phone and the gimbal to use it as a stabilizer. The gimbal lets you use the following modes by just turning it on: FPV (default mode), Sport, Inception, All lock, Tilt and Follow, Pan and Follow, Selfie (turns 180°'s towards you), and Return to Center (double press on trigger button returns facing to normal). Gimbal lets you use the joystick to manually turn the facing where ever you want in any mode. You can also use the auto-calibration when you press "W" 3 times, it takes a while. So you can use all these modes with your Android phones native camera app. I guess the Moza Genie app might give you a little more tools for filming but it being only 30fps max capped on Android phones, I wouldn't bother trying to use it. I'm going to buy a Ulanzi Iron ST-02S phone holder to replace the default plastic holder that comes with Moza Mini P. I think this is a smart thing to do so that you don't have to count on a plastic phone holder since it might brake your phone. Also I recommend using some kind of a wrist strap on the gimbal in case you drop it. I recommend checking hollywoodfrodo's channel for Moza Mini P modes overview. Take your time to stabilize your phone with the gimbal at first. Do it properly so the gimbal motors can operate optimally. I recommend checking how to do this from various videos in youtube.

Explaining the setup in POV was the good part... i had such a hard time with understanding the other setup vids on KZfaq. I will probably make another vid later with the buttons controls. Or not, i just use it for stabilization.

After balancing, I would mark with small sticks just to remember until the next time I put gopro on it and same with smartphone. I think it would be a game changer if that idea works :)

Have to give you top marks for using the words smart phone as 99% say when using my IPhone 12 or add a brand name, you are well educated and know that a smart phone is just that a smart phone, 99% think the only smart phone is an iPhone, 🤔 Great video simple instructions on setting it up 👌👍

Ok but the motor from the gimbal is so loud that the action camera picks it up, sounds terrible, do you have any ideas to remove that?

Do you get random vibrations when changing angles from time to time? Emily have it all balanced then the motor calibration too but still get those odd moments. And this is just with an s21 ultra so not very heavy

Hello - I have a problem - I've watched many of these videos and I still can't mount my iphone xs horizontally. I've balanced everything but I can' t work out how to prevent the highest motor from being too loose - my phone swings freely - I've played around with those two top knobs but no dice.

Hello, how long i have to charge the gimbal? I did it for 4 hours and the red light did not turn off. I am using the phone charger witht USB cable from de Moza gimbal. I dont understand what its wrong. Can you let me know? Thank you.

I initially charged min for about 6 hours or so. Afterwards it has been 4 hour charges.

"...loosely tighten..."? LOL, that's an oxymoron, no? I would suggest "snug." A mechanic would likely say "finger tighten." Criticism aside, I appreciate your making and posting the video--I am contemplating buying the MOZA Mini P today (B&H DealZone discount ends in less than 16 hours)----and am impressed with how well you did in what seems an unscripted presentation. Thank you.

The Moza Mini P stabilizes pretty good until it breaks down. Buyer beware: Gudsen (manufacturer of Moza gimbals) will not honor the warranty of their products even after many attempts. I do not recommend any of their products.

The Moza is a typical Chinese junk product. I tried to use it with a phone and a small point and shoot camera and it often gets twisted up. When I go for low shots, it jams and vibrates. It's not really that smooth and jerks a little going side to side, and really cumbersome to disassemble. I just put it in a towel in my backpack instead of the case. Overall, stay away from the Moza Mini P.
