What bottles did you finish in 2024? Which ones will you buy more? Or never more?

I love my bonded JD series buy for me

Elijah Craig and Larceny I don't seem to jive with. At the moment there is tons of A124 sitting on the shelves in my area. Jack Daniel's has been hitting a lot of strides, I've gotten pours of JD 10, JD 12, JD SBBP Rye, Twice Barreled and one or two others I can't remember the names of. My friend somehow finds them? EH Taylor Small Batch, you better believe that's a buy if you find it at the right price! Finally got a few pours of that recently! It's like a higher proof Eagle Rare that's a little younger, solid bourbon. Starlight, no idea. 1792 sweet wheat, I've only had the single barrel and full proof and wasn't impressed. I just missed a drop of the Bonded at one of my local stores. Russell's Single Barrel, I haven't had a store pick but I finally found where to get the regular Single Barrel. At 110 proof it's a nice step up from Wild Turkey 101. The whole peanut/nutty note wasn't as prominent as more oak and spice took over. Redwood Empire Rocket Top Bonded, I've only had Grizzly Beast Bonded but if that's any indication I'm sure the Rocket Top isn't bad but the price tag leaves you feeling punched in the gut. Joseph Magnus Murray Hill, I haven't had any Joseph Magnus but the regular black label bourbon is going for $100 in my area. Lucky Seven, no idea. Maker's Mark BEP, no idea. Only have had regular Maker's and cask strength. Man that Four Roses would be a nice bottle to receive! They aren't inexpensive at roughly $50 in my area. I've been running on all cylinders lately myself. Tracked down a couple more ER bottles, my first EH Taylor small batch, a Four Roses OESO barrel strength and a regular Blanton's that has my birthday as the dump date. I did also find a Blanton's STFB but that is going to my friend for his wedding. His dad got him a Blanton's Gold and I found the SFTB. My friend is a Buffalo Trace mash bill #2 guy and I'm a mash bill #1 guy. 😂 He also cracked open his Stagg Batch 18 last I was at his place with his dad. Grape soda, cherry, brown sugar, vanilla, oak, burnt orange peel, cinnamon, strong tobacco, heavy baking spices and a nice long warm finish! That bottle is fire!! I saved the kicker for last! I found that Blanton's SFTB but as I said, that's going to be for my friend's wedding coming up. Wouldn't you know I stumbled into a Stagg Batch 22A the next week!? It was marked up a good amount but no way was I letting that bottle go! So I'll be opening up the Blanton's with my birthday as the dump date and the Stagg 22A on my birthday later this year! Whatever else I happen to find going forward I will be directing towards my friends. They helped me immensely in getting rolling with bourbon and now that I seemed to have found a little luck it's time to pay back that generosity! 😉

Great content David! I finished the Booker's Mighty Fine Batch and Tea Batch and not sure if I'll buy more. I bought a RR SB store pick from Corked Stearns Redondo Beach and my goodness do I regret not getting a backup. Will keep an eye for the next release. Keep up the great content and always enjoyable. I’m a fan of Lucky Seven but prefer their non-finished offerings like The Hold Up and The Proprietor. Those are buy more’s for me. I think their finished stuff like Holiday Toast and The Frenchman are OK but not quite worth the price…agree on the never more on those bottles. These days I don’t really enjoy any finished bourbons. Now, finished ryes are a different as I really enjoy those. Cheers!

I am a Bartons 1792 fan but I don't care for their wheat or rye, everything else is a treat im especially fond of the BIB and Full Proof, recently I've I've been getting the Small Batch on sale for around 23 bucks which is a super deal also I love all the Four Roses and have for many years, Russells,WT anything except the 81 proofs are great.

Sadly, Murray Hill Club is now up to 119.96 in its home state. It will be interesting to see if the upcoming MHC Special Release Batch #4 lives up to the 199.99 price tag.

I liked this one a lot because I haven’t tried a good portion of those bottles. The only bottle that I really want to try that I have not is the Rocket Top. I’m just a Redwood Empire fanboy I guess. What did I finish so far this year? JD Twice barreled rye, I’m already missing that bottle. Rock Hill Farms, to me is much better than Blanton’s. I’d buy again in a heart beat. Larceny C923, was good but probably never again. Weller 107 and Full Proof, will buy again in multiples given the chance.

Nice! I’m always looking for a Russell’s store pick! I found a Murray Hill Club a few months ago and the store owner told me 50.00 so I bought it to try and it’s really nice! I like my BEP & BRT-01 and my MM store pick but not fond of any others I’ve tried. Cheers!

Nice to see someone call out Redwood Empire for being overpriced in some items. Rocket Top is good but man rather have a Sagamore any day over it and like you said the JD SiBBP Rye is fantastic $30 cheaper. EHT anything is a must buy if msrp. Joseph Magnus makes great bottles. Only have the Lucky Seven The Frenchman and that one is good. MM BEP is a nice pour and $10-20 cheaper than the store picks and equivalent imo Wow Thank you

Great lists David. I also thought 1792 Sweet Wheat was underwhelming. I was so excited to get one at MSRP and ended up disappointed. Love those RR Private Barrel store picks. I really like this series you do. Living with a bottle absolutely can change your opinion of it. Love it. I do have beef with you on the RE Rocket Top though... that's a real gentleman's whiskey in my opinion. I do wish it was a bit cheaper though for the proof point. I have a batch 3, and I think I'll buy a backup of it even! You influenced me to buy my first Murray Hill Club, and it's really an exceptional bottle that's very unique.

Only ten really you drink slow. I’m averaging three a week. Yes I drink every night only three sometimes just two depends on proof 1.5 oz a night usually three bottles a night I hit. Only have five open at a time. I’ve been drinking for over 40 years and the older I get it really helps me sleep. Between tinnitus and just not sleeping well it helps. Never hung over again I don’t drink too get drunk just till I can sleep. Getting old isn’t for sissies. Trust me.

Elijah Craig SBatch, will always be on my shelf. JD Bonded, I like but $36 for 700ml it's a no. ET BiB $21 for a liter another shelfer for life. Woodford Res $35 yes again. Woodford Res. Double Oaked never more, OF 1910 or 1920 better. MM 46 $27 for life. Trails End 10 year when on sale for $59, always buy. Ben Holladay BiB $60 probably never more. Bernheim Original $29, more and more. Basil Hayden no no no no no not gonna ever. Nelson Bros Res. $40 a big yes. Pikesville Rye $50 for life. Clyde May's $28 buy more(just finished last night, I've got 3 back-ups) Larceny SBatch $50 1.75L always. NULU Res $67 is a BIG yes. Evan Williams BiB $35 1.75L another more may I please have another. I drink more Knob Creek 9 than any other bottle $27, nuff said.

EH Taylor SB is not available for near $70 in most places. My belief is that all bourbon You-Tubers should sign a pact to skip reviewing any whiskey that has (on average) more than a 100% markup over MSRP. Or at a minimum be very clear in making value assessments at real prices, not fictitional MSRP.

EH Taylor is about $125+ in 95% of the country. You Tubers should not be promoting brands that are so inaccessible and go so far above MSRP. Get on the side of the customer. Don't promote for the distributors and distilleries whose sales and marketing practices drive these prices through the roof.
