I have the hand held sprayer and love it. Bought the other one you show on the outside chance that I wouldn’t like the handheld sprayer. So far that sitting in my closet because I absolutely love the handheld sprayer and don’t know how I live without it all these years.

The handheld is also called a shattaf. They are good for rinsing your toilet bowl and help with cleaning the toilet in general as you can spray it on the rim and around the bowl. I need to install the shattaf in my bathroom. One downside is that you have to keep the valve for the handheld turned off when not in use to avoid any leaks. So you have to reach down and turn the lever for the tee (and hope you turn it in the correct direction) and then turn it back off when you are done. My brother prefers the seat attachment one. We have one on my mother's toilet but she can't use it because she's on the wide side & her side fat hangs over the controls. When I first installed a luxe bidet seat attachment and was testing it, the water shout out across the room and hit the wall. It also hit me in the face a couple of times when I was cleaning the toilet. I was scrubbing and accidentally made the sprayer part come down. Not all toilet seat bolts are long enough to fit on the seat attachment. I had to use tank to bowl bolts to reach. The nuts constantly come loose so the seat and attachment move. It can also create a gap between the back of the seat and the rim of the bowl. This leads to many seats cracking/breaking because they are not fully supported. The inserts for the toilet bolts make the seat have to sit up higher. Since the seat attachment sprays from behind, it can move fecal matter more to the front, which can be a problem for women in particular.

I've got the non hand bidet. One thing I noticed when I first used it, it was hard to find the right sitting position to get it in the right area. After a few weeks of experimenting, I finally got it working the way I wanted it to. What I did wrong was sitting all the way back and(sorry for this) not spreading correctly, so that made cleaning much more difficult. I solved this by sitting at the end of the toilet, spread all the way open, did my business, then scoot back and turned on the bidet. Because the bidet doesn't move, I found that moving your bum around the toilet to clean up actually worked. I just moved side to side, up and down and that was it.

Your posts are very informative I have used both types and switched to the hand help I find I can get myself cleaner, when I’m not at home a used a dedicated pair of kitchen tongs, I haven found a portable model that works, thanks for your videos, keep them coming I have a brain injury a tons of back problems where in spite of the pain I can’t find myself physically able to get in a position to do the cleaning I have a high tolerance for pain I just can’t get in the position! I saved enough by NOT buying so much TP (9-pack instead of 40-50 rolls per year) that it paid for itself in a year! Using a bidet also cuts the incidence of urinary tract infections. Teach little girls especially to use these marvels of hygiene! If you are having spinal surgery, the hand held one probably won’t work for you, as you will not be able or allowed to bend over or twist at all to get to the handle. Use washcloths as drying towels, toss into a net bag, and then the laundry. I keep a basket full of them handy. This is one of the best things I have ever done for myself and our budget.

I already purchased two toilet mount setups; however, am awaiting new toilet seats due to the gap I experienced with installation (between the toilet rim and the seat). I am a former nurse, now permanently disabled....and appreciate your thorough insight. If all goes well with the new toilet seats....I am reassured that I made the right decision for my limitations. A thought I have had both the permanent mounted one eventually hits the wrong spot, I have found the hand help one much superior in that way one down side to the hand is the bracket that holds it over the tank can be difficult to turn and use, I’ve been using it for months and I have found the good nation wide brand of self stick products work great, I just lay the hose over it it has help no problem just a thought

So glad for this kind of information. After a ton of research, (& since neither of us have physical disabilities), I've opted to use "the poor man's bidet" aka a perineal bottle. It costs the least, it's totally portable, can be filled w/warm water, requires 0 installation, easy to maintain/clean. I use cloth tp (as I call it.....some call it family cloth.) after using the perineal bottle. I wanted to get away from using tp at all. It's interesting that as a developed country, most people just rely on dry tp after using the toilet. Most of the world, I've learned, relies on water. It cleans better. If you think about it, if you got # 1 or #2 on your arm, hand, leg, foot, would you feel clean just wiping it off w/a piece of dry tp ? Probably not. You'd want water at the very least. Then why are so many of us content w/using just some dry tp after using the toilet ? Food for thought. Also, plumbers keep trying to get the word out NOT to flush flushable wipes. They say nothing but regular tp should go down a toilet. Thank you for this very informative video. Even tho I chose not to get the kind of bidet that has to be installed onto the toilet, it's great to inform people of those options & the benefits.

I just want to add that I've had the luxe for several years now, and I really like using it, but it makes cleaning the toilet MUCH more difficult. It adds a lot of crevices that attract grime. I'm about to buy the handheld for that reason only. I would much rather have a luxe style bidet, but I don't think it's worth it unless you want to spend the money on a toilet with a built in bidet.

Hello, I am brand new to the bidet usage. I have a hand held portable, (plastic bottle with nozzle type). I am finding it very ineffective. I usually end up with water going everywhere and still using the same amount of toilet paper. Can I ask, does the Luxe actually hit the area and do a complete job, or is it kind of “iffy”? What I dont get is does using the toilet mount not go against what us girls are taught "front to back"?? Yes it sprays clean but I imagine it could push feces towards the front...then how do you wash it away n/or it may cause UTIs. Also, if one is "sick" n using the restroom is a bit messier then the toilet mount doesnt seem it will clean all because it's a straight narrow directed stream. I dont use either but am pondering n I just cant get past these issues from the toilet mount n yet cant get past the sprayer seeming messy. Thanks for the video.

Question, it looks like the seat bidet you shown is pretty deep down into the toilet, what do you do when someone poops and it happens to get on the bidet?

I haven't put in a luxe style yet, but due to an upcoming surgery in "that area" may be considering one. I will say this, though - I think the handheld bidets are HORRIBLE. I got a highly rated one that has a longer reach handle (not the vegetable sprayer type) and even with that, water goes EVERYWHERE. They just don't make the nozzles with a narrow enough spray - even the smaller one on mine sprays water everywhere. The only one I've found so far that has a narrow enough spray I like is a battery powered travel bidet. I wish the makers of these things would realize you are just trying to clean a very specific and smaller area... not spray wash your entire butt! ugh. Only other option is a formal bidet toilet seat that has the extending metal spray rods, but being a larger person, the ones made for heavier people are $500+.

I read somewhere that the sprayer (if used incorrectly I believe) can increase UTIs in women and maybe even push fecal particles in the vaginal area. That’s what kinda stopped me from getting a bidet but the seats look doable.
