I have one of those. Good little knife. I’ve had it since 1982.

Had my eye on this knife at my local HW store. Ive always had some sort of folder on me since moving to the mountians a fixed blade on your belt is your best friend. Im confused sometimes becase my 9mm pistol is also on my right hip as my state is open carry. Ive always had a knife on that side even folders in a holster. So because i love my blades so much we needed a fix. Got myself a beautiful leather shoulder holster for my pistol and now my knife is wear it should be and no confusion or to much on my right hip as i also wear a chain wallet and have since i was a boy. Thanx for the review gonna pick up my 102 this morning.

The 100 series is extremely versatile. Pretty much has something for everyone. The base models are very affordable as well. They're tough dependable knives.

I find Buck's hollow grind is good for carving, doesn't terminate too thin to where the grind's shoulders get in the way, even when I rounded the edge's shoulders. Love my Gen5 in cpm154, I find myself reaching for it when I carve.

Mine has stood the test of time. I've used it to cut meat & vegetables outside on my grill, process smaller pieces of wood, and other everyday chores like cutting through zip ties, cardboard boxes, rope etc.

Buck knives are designed for skinning different size animals, that is why it is good to invest in smaller and bigger blades depending on what you hunt

Just got my 102 today and I have already made one change. I took the plastic insert out, and replaced it with a leather insert, I cut using the plastic one as a guide. I dyed the new insert black, inserted it into the sheath. Blade fits better and does not rattle. Just something to think about.

I recently bought a 101 and a 117 Brahma at a store here in Canada, still one 117 and two 101's in stock. I have the 102 but the 117 is just a bit bigger, real nice, both are discontinued, Ramakko's

......The 102 is one of my four favorite Buck knives. The others are the 105, 119 and the 110. If Buck ever makes a drop point 119 I will add it to my favorites also. Very well presented review and I subbed........

Great video. And couldn't agree more. Have a few different Bucks, and this is right up there with some of my favorites. Subscribed, and hope all is well and that you have some more videos coming (I see it's been a while since your most recent). Keep up the great work.

I did click like and subscribe the buck 102 is one of my favorites and have owned one for many years. It had the full sheath which dry rotted and I had a custom sheath made. I bought a buck 105 with the newer sheaths which is a great knife also but I did have issues with the sheath had to do some repairs
@samwentzell16047 жыл бұрын
Thanks for subscribing! That's too bad about the sheaths.

i'm thinking of getting one of these for my dad. Ive had a Model 119 for years, and I love it. My dad and I would like to get into bushcrafting, but he doesnt like how big my 119 is so I'm thinking of getting him this.
@samwentzell16045 жыл бұрын
I'd say either this one or a Mora Knife for bushcraft. However this is still my go to knife for everything.

@@samwentzell1604 it’s been 3 years now, and my dad still loves his 102! I still carry my 119 (for over seven years now, ever since I got the knife when I was 16) but I’ve been thinking of getting myself one of these as well. While pondering it I came across this video once again.

Just got one on sale from Amazon for 30$ Prime down from 47$. Helluva deal in my opinion. The brown handled version was 51$ - All still at the same prices as of just checking a minute ago !!
@samwentzell16047 жыл бұрын
Wow, that's quite the deal!
@BRadgambler7 жыл бұрын
Definitely, and I was really just looking for a replacement folding knife because my dad lost mine and was gonna pay for another one for me. Anyways when I saw this was about the same price, and I have plenty of other knives I thought "you've wanted this knife for a long time, it's ONLY 30$ AND it's Prime, just buy it" so, of course I couldn't pass up on it !! I really like the brown handle one too and if both were 30$ I'd have picked that one but, I wasn't gonna pass up on the 30$ price tag just for a different color handle !!
@samwentzell16047 жыл бұрын
I've never seen the brown one. That sounds like you made the right decision then.

It looks nice and feels nice, but if you ever use it to open the belly of an animal, you're going to puncture organs and make a mess. That upswept tip was a bad idea. If I were to do it again, I'd go with the Vanguard or Selkirk. The tip is a pain when stropping, too; it tends to catch on things when pulling back toward oneself.

Been thinking of getting one of these little guys in their 5160 BOS steel with the brass bolsters. I love their 420HC, but I've had issues with chipping on my 110 with how hard it is. Kinda wondering if their 5160 will hold up better, being a spring steel and more tolerant of abuse.

Have the 119 myself for a specific purpose and must say it is a fine knife for what I want it for. Thanks for sharing Sam.
@samwentzell16047 жыл бұрын
I love my 119 and may even film a review on it soon. I should have explained that I wanted the 102 because the 119 is kind of big for having on my belt during tours, workshops and events at public schools.
@jacqueline71187 жыл бұрын
Yes, can see what you mean about a bit too big for that purpose. Will look forward to the 119 review.

I have the 105.. got it on sale at a gun shop. paid 20$ with the sheath included..about 8 years ago..love it...Buck ..still made in America?
@michaelcolloton69713 жыл бұрын
I think some of the new models with the plastic handles are made in China.
@brianbartulis9709 Жыл бұрын
I just got a 105 after looking into it. They say the 105s are one of the models still made in USA. What Michael called plastic handle could be as the 105, but.. Phenolic (handle) I've read is a generic name for Micarta. Just a slight different resin.
