I recently bought a 562 , and I haven’t been disappointed. I got a decent deal from my local shop. Doing a muffler mod soon. And with a wraparound handle bar on it, I run mine with a 28” bar and I enjoy it. I haven’t ever run an echo, so I’m a little biased. Much love from NC.

I have a 620 and love it. I run a 20 inch and 27 inch bar on it depending on what im cutting. It pulls the 27" bar just fine. All i have done to it is take the spark arrestor screen out and the throttle response and torque are fantastic. I love chainsaws and really want to fill out a good collection of saws like you have there.

I was a sawer on a wildfire crew and worked 21 days in a row 18 hrs a day to get 2 days paid off. 4 lbs difference is enormous. We cut mostly brush on steep slopes maby bucking firewood all day would not matter as much. I had to trade saw for radio when I was 36 years old. If I could have shaved off 4 lbs off saw I would have ran saw till I was 40.

The actual size of the air filter is irrelevant. Husqvarna has perhaps the best pre filtration system therefore not requiring as much filter surface.
@joelhockett8137
@joelhockett8137 3 ай бұрын
I said the cs 370 airfilter is smaller but, otherwise identical in design to the cs 7310's meaning smaller scale, the smaller the saw the smaller the filter and the cs 7310 bigger saw has a bigger airfilter? And both of these configurations are superior to the 620p and nothing to do with relevance ? just to clarify my statement. I've owned several Swedish made husky's much better machine's than these modern-day versions in my own opinion and perfer the Echo's performance, warranty and price vs new husky's and i tried the lighter more expensive 562xp with plastic clutch cover ect. Autotune that requires an ecm so performace wise you get what you got without being able to fine tune or do any real modifications and that's OK for ppl that have no idea how to maintain saws i guess. a friend had to replace the carburetor and that alone cost him almost $300 if it needed an ecm you will have spend more $ on these 2 parts alone without the cost of labor. You can buy a new fully tunable mod friendly more powerfull 59cc 620p with an all magnesium case without all the plastic or the electronic autotune crap without having to go through a dealer for the parts or repair costs. The torq is nowhere close to the 80's Swedish made torq#'s My 620p a bit heavier for a 59cc saw with less plastic and the torq being right up there with 72cc models who cares. Just a much better and more dependable saw all around despite the airfiler issue that cost $15 to resolve. So, I'm happy you like your husky and not disputing their filtration system that design evolved from those earlier Swedish saws that were the most powerful dependable an far more superior to everything else at that time and time changes everything ! You'll pay well over $1000 -$1500 for the husky or stihl with a full magnesium case saw equivalent to the $600 echo 620p

I dont notice that weight difference in a firewood saw, thus every time I've went to buy a 60cc saw I've walked out with a 70cc. Limbing with either is a bit of a chore, I sometimes use my 345 for that but a real sharp axe with a good operator can limb/ top green timber just as fast. Within the scope of firewood, I dont notice a few lbs felling and bucking. I like a saw with some low end grunt though, important to realize that we arent pro fallers, and what we need out of our saws can be a bit different.

The stihl ms400cm is bar none the best power to weight ratio for a saw. 5.4 hp. Mine rips through wood. The powerband on the 400 is amazing. I will say if you want to run a 25 or longer bar open up the oil journal hole on the stock bar to 1/8. The 400 is a great do it all saw. Dropping trees limbing and bucking rounds. It's light, comfortable, and powerful.
@afellowinnewengland6142
@afellowinnewengland6142 9 ай бұрын
I'd agree, but I wish the top and rear handles were wider. Controls feel so small for a saw of this class. As for oiling, it's still running the MS362 pump so it's borderline with a 25" bar. Definitely wouldn't go longer than that.
@whatsthebuzz1

The oiler has been a complaint of many people. That is something stihl should have addressed. Also the plastic handle bar on a commercial saw is ridiculous.

I think 3 or 4 pounds difference in a similar cc saw is huge… not necessarily that significant for the operator, but to trim that much weight and add 20% more HP is sound engineering and costs $$. All depends what you want…. Good video!

4 pounds extra may be fine if I'm cutting rounds on big logs. If I'm limbing and need to flick the saw constantly, I'm better off with the lighter one.

Agreed. It all depends what your using the saw for.
@johngardner3020
@johngardner3020 8 ай бұрын
I think the weight difference is important in some cases but not others. Cutting firewood is basically highway miles for a saw. Its about the least demanding usage on a power head and human. If you are climbing trees or operating saws up in a bucket 8 or 9 hours a day then those pounds start adding up. Holding the saw at chest hieght, on its left side, right side, every angle in between, etc you get the idea. In my view, using a ms400 to cut firewood is underutilizing the features that saw brings to the table.

You’ve got great content on your channel and I appreciate the comparison/contrast between your saws. I will answer like this: if I had one saw of the 4 you own that I would expect to be there 10 years from now, which would it be? The Echo cs-680. (1) It’s built like a tank compared to the others; (2) it has a tunable carburetor vs technowizardry; and (3) the manual oiler is an absolute bonus in promoting chain life and bar longevity. The 620 would be my next logical choice EXCEPT for the filtration. Thus, I would choose the Stihl 400C. Of all the saws there, it will retain its initial value the best.
@whatsthebuzz1

My personal opinion is the non electronic carb saws will have the least amount of problems. I like the 680. It’s a tried and true design. If you ran every saw the same amount of time it would be awesome to see which saw outlasted the others! Thanks for watching.

Those 400’s do pretty good with Stihl 46RSLF and 46RSK. The .404 is great, only needs sharpening once a week. Maybe more than once a week but it does last longer. How many problems have you had with the electronic carburetors? My MTronic saws have been great, zero issues! I don’t like the manual adjustment carburetors anymore and try to only buy electronic control. I know some people end up having a lot issues with them and I understand how electronics can turn into a nightmare.
@whatsthebuzz1
@whatsthebuzz1 Жыл бұрын
I’m new to the electronic carbs. I prefer manual, but I see the advantage for somebody to not have to mess with an adjustment. I just use logic that over history the more electronic components the more problems and less longevity. They ruined trucks, tractors, and maybe saws?
@PurpleNovember
@PurpleNovember Жыл бұрын
@@whatsthebuzz1 I get what you’re saying. Computer control is more of my go to about 90% of the time, but there’s times I want something extra basic. I think it’s more of a different category of computer and non computer controlled. Like comparing top handle and rear handle saws, it’s really two different categories that can do the same job but can’t replace each other. EFI engines last longer than carburetor engines and far less maintenance and greater efficiency. It took some time to get there. There’s not much nostalgia in a 1980’s TBI. There’s just something special about an older pickup with a carburetor and no electronic controls or gauges. I think the biggest disadvantage of EC is the lack of general knowledge and understanding when it comes to general repairs and maintenance. Plus the needed scan tools involved with diagnostic’s and manufactures denying consumers the right to repair their own property.

You didn’t say how many tanks of fuel you have through the Husky, if you have the latest software or if you’ve done some setup cuts. What year was it manufactured? The Husky should feel powerful and fast- especially after 10-12 tanks of fuel. It’s a pro saw and needs some break in. It has lower vibration and better tech than the Echo. The Echo out of the box does not dyno test as strong as the Husky, so something may be off if the Husky seems slower. Don’t get me wrong, I like and own Echo, but these particular designs are very old compared to the Husky.

I recently bought the 680. I wish it had a magnesium side cover like the 620. I think the only reason for the magnesium side cover on the 620 is the outside spikes. If it wasn't for the double spikes, it too eould have a plastic clutch cover. My old echo 650evl was a great saw. It's cut a LOT of wood. Although hardly ever used anymore, it still runs like a champ. It has a magnesium clutch cover, and it is cracked. But I'm talking years of cutting. Not only for heating the house, but also for cutting & selling firewood. It was the reputation of my 650evl that steared me to the 680.

I really like my 620p but, after the 1st tank of fuel and looking at the airfilter it was easy to see it was sucking in more fine debris than was being filtered. So, shame on Echo for 6+ yrs of this sorry excuse of a filter without providing a fix? maybe just with an o-ring & spacer kit for the original owners of these model saws just to save face and would've done more for the (Echo brand) than the 5yr warranty with a leaking alleged (pro saw airfilter) that should've been redesigned several yrs. ago? A pro saw should have a adequate pro saw filter in my opinion, especially.. if you want to compete with the 2 top dogs. I hope some of Echo's big shots read this comment and keep it in mind for the future if they really want to stay on top of their game???
