Welcome everyone, here's my quick review of a Celestron 5SE computerized telescope. This is a highly portable, full featured telescope that offers you heaps of automation and GoTo tracking power to conquer the night sky, even if you have minimal knowledge of the cosmos! With the rising prices in the telescope world, the 5SE is a cost effective way to get everything you need to get started in astronomy, if you're in the market for a computerized telescope.

I have one of those. All those Celestron Go to telescopes are nice. I have the Nexstar 8 also.Thanks for the video.

I am elderly and feeble. I decided about a month ago to take up sky watching. I had a $300 budget. Everyone said I should get a Dobsonian and aperture in king, so I bought a 10" Dobsonian for $1100. It weighed 61 pounds and I could not carry it into the back yard. I gifted it to a friend of mine who only had a 30mm archromatic refractor and a home made mount he made from a coat hanger. He was pleased. Then, I bought a Celestron 150mm XLT Newtonian reflector with a CG-Mount for $650. It weighed 42 pounds. I could carry it outside if I took 4 trips. Not really a grab and go. Then, I bought a Celestron 5SE. The tripod weighs 10 pounds, the mount 7 pounds and the optical tube assembly weighs 6 pounds. I can carry it in two trips. Better. It requires less maintenance than my reflector, is automated and has a wedge which allows it to act as a equatorial mount instead of an alt/azimuth mount. Good for taking pictures. Am happy with it.

Thank you for the review. I've had my 5SE for a couple years and you're right when you say it's just the right size that it gets used. I keep it just next to the door to the back yard and often take it out just before it gets dark to let it acclimate so I can get a little stargazing in after work. I can also attach a DSLR and get decent photos. It's not high-end but it gets me out a lot more than a larger scope would. Thanks again for the review of this little gem.

Thanks Lester. It’s so true! Smaller scopes see a lot more starlight, on average. In college I had a C5 and it’s the scope that showed my wife Saturn the first time.

How to attached a DSLR to the telescope? is it by an additional fitting or it comes with the telescope?

Is it good to see nebulas like example orion and good to see distant galaxies

Oops, that was supposed to be a thumbs up! After being out bid a few times, I finally got one on eBay for a good price. I've upgraded the visual back with a Baader Clicklock, and if funds permit, I'll upgrade it with StarSense, SkySync, and a Lithium 7.2 Ah Powertank. And if all goes well, I hope to try out EAA with it...
