I believe the reason you can't run two solder and desoldering guns at the same time is the power requirements. The unit is rated at 780 Watt, adding the ability to run two guns at the same time would exceed 1500 Watt (potentially) and that would exceed many US household 110v outlets. However, with that said, they could have simply added a switch to would allow selection of solder or desolder but not both at the same time. As far as tip temps, I check the "default" tip (comes with) with a REED R2310 Infrared Thermometer (laser pointer with emissivity adjustments based on material, so I know I was on target) and it registered 471 when set to 480 ... I let it warm up for about 5 minutes

Thanks Robin - that makes perfect sense

adding a selector creates a potential hazard of someone tweaking the unit to be able to select both at the same time...not worth it.

@@edzamper5803 If someone is going to "tweak the unit" how is this my or yours or anyone else's responsibility? Not to mention if they're into "tweaking" then I'm certain they could just add a selector.

@@robainscough I'm just saying that it is possible that the factory decided not to add the selector to avoid giving users the idea of tampering with it and then claiming in a lawsuit that it came like that and that's why it burned the house down.... but then again it may be that they didn't thought of it altogether.

Have a look at YT video: "Yihua 948 look inside" it is a review of the inside components of a very similar machine by same factory. He says a little bit of curse words, so if that bothers you or you would like to keep little ears away, heads up. But the guy does a very good review and from other DIYers reviews, it seems that this factory's short-comings are common among a variety of their products. Nothing that a person with a bit of understanding can handle but still good to know. I will not be taking mine apart until tomorrow morning. I will be back to let you all know what I think.

I'm thinking about getting one of these to do some light rework of borked 8-bit computers, mainly replacing capacitors and desoldering chips (surface mount and through-hole). Could you answer a couple of questions: How's the station held up in the months that you have had it, have you had any problems with it, and would you still recommend it for the casual hobbyist?

Hi Dean.. The station has been great and reliable, not had any issues with it. I use it daily for games console reworking and it has not let me down. There are two points I have found that, I would not call negatives, but are to be aware of are: 1) The soldering iron cannot be used at the same time as the desoldering gun - so you have to unplug and swap them over. 2) As the fan for the hot air gun in the handle (not in the base unit as like other models - like this one amzn.to/39NQskQ) it takes slightly longer (about 45 seconds) to warm up than other models I have used. As I say, I do not see these as negatives, but thought I would mention them, and I still recommend it..

I just brought this model home from the post box today. I will be testing its temperature accuracy and stability with a type-k therm-couple. I will get back to this comment section in a few days with my findings.

Is the desoldering gun strong enough to desolder things on a ground plane?
@TweakTips
@TweakTips 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Josh.. It desolders fine from grounding pins, but it has struggled with a ground plate. What I do when I am trying to desolder a ground plate is use my heat gun to warm up the PCB then come in with the desoldering gun and that seems to work for me.

I bought the same set up, and the Desolder gun didn’t come with the holes in the tips? Did you have too make the holes too? I have yet too play with it so I’m sorry if it’s obvious in directions.

Hi George.. The tips have a small amount of solder on them from manufacture, once you power it up for the first time, it will heat up and the tips will open up.

El soldador alcanza un máximo de 60W y la pistola de calor un máximo de 480 ºC y la pistola desoldadora un máximo de 75W lo suficiente para hacer trabajos delicados de soldadura, no se necesita más !!

That is a great spot - not too sure why, but have just pre-processed it on KZfaq so it will hopefully re-sync. Thanks for letting me know

Do you still monitor your channel? I am trying to learn electronics I want to restore vintage receivers , turntables and speakers. I have a Pioneer 424 that I have had for a long time. Its it going to be my guinea pig to learn on. I am going to detox clean the control boards and recap the whole unit. I really want to buy one of these units. I also want to restore my Marantz speakers I am going to refoam and replace the caps . Do you still recommend this unit I really want it bad? I hope I can get good enough some day to do this as a side hustle . It is my understanding there is very good money in restoring vintage audio gear. I hope to hear back thanks LOVE the video BTW

Thank you for posting this info video. The desoldering gun does NOT have its own plug, so I would have to unplug the solder gun just to use the desoldering gun, I will NOT buy this crap! For $300 and the manufacturer was too cheap to add a 3rd plug and yet people still buy this, SUCKERS!!!!!!!!
