I don’t know if your still active on this video but when I was cleaning the Xbox I accidentally yanked off the whole thing for the power supply inside the motherboard and the black thing was attached to it and I all I saw were the pins on the Xbox’s motherboard and I knew something was wrong any help?

As long as the pins are still attached to the motherboard, you should be able to push the black plastic housing back on again (just make sure the pins go through the correct holes)

You must use electronics flux, not plumbers flux!!

Ok I’ve got it off but it’s a lot or black residue.. does this mean the motherboard is cooked/damage? I attempted this on one for parts.. don’t want to damage the working board ya know

IPA stands for Isopropyl Alcohol. It is the cleaning fluid used to clean off the residue flux etc

thanks for all your extra details and help, when fixing my hdd i had messed up putting the white casing back and broke the power button. now ive got a new one and everything aligned properly and working. For all those doing it yourself its crucial you take extra care at important steps like around circuit boards and jusr watching one guy might not be enough! Watch this video !1

Very nice video, thanks ! I've a technical question, maybe you could help. I've L15 Gen1, running Win11. The display brightness became very low, but not totally zero (I hardly can see anything). External monitor via USB-C or HDMI works fine. Could it be an issue with the display, connector or something else? How would you debug that? Thank you !!

Seen a few people with the same problem. The power button broke off, so I used my controller instead. My controller has since disconnected, so I use the disk eject button. For some reason the disk eject button only turns my Xbox on for a second. The light turns on then straight off again, fan doesn’t start. Any ideas?

Hello, I think it will be difficult for me to desolder the bios chip of my computer. Can i just solder wires on the pins of the BIOS chip and reprogram it without unsoldering ?

I have this NVR recorder and when the engineer fitted it a few years ago, he did not really explain to me if I had a problem, what to do. This company were a bit of a cowboy setup and hence I could not get in touch with them anymore. I now have a slight problem with getting into the menu as I cannot get the mouse to work and my cameras (only 2) have gone down, saying problem with connection after a recent power cut. I wonder if you could possibly give me some advice.

If you’re having this issue in 2024+, just shake your controller. I really don’t know why but it works. If that doesn’t work, I suggest getting some electronic cleaner BEFORE you buy all this extra stuff

Does HP not let you download the bios for you laptop model from their website? I know Dell does. Not sure why you'd need to get it from a random website? As when I buy a used laptop, I'd always flash the bios with the latest version from the manufacturers website. Just so I know I have the latest version, and just in case the previous owner didn't do something right or messed with the bios, and then I'd also replace the CMOS battery.

Flashing with the BIOS from the HP website will not remove the BIOS password

just a question the system update files are larger than the system update x size so i cannot copy both files in folder a and B , is there another system update file ? the one in your link is 6.7gb

Depending on the version operating system you have installed on your Xbox, you now can simply install a blank hard drive into the Xbox, and install the OSU1 file from USB (there is no need to copy the files to the hard drive anymore as Microsoft updated the process about a year ago)

It seems to keep resetting all the time then the xbox sign just flashes. I tried like 3 hardrives but I read something about the HDD connector that might be the issue should I try resorting to this option and can it be any hdd connector purchased from an online tech store ?

Top Tip: no need to take back off - you can temporarily disable the internal battery in the BIOS settings

Nice video. I have a Thinkpad t15 gen 1 and the screen got broken recently. Do you happen to know the replacement number part? I don't want to buy the wrong one.

Thank you. Most manufactures use different screens even on the same model laptop so it is best to take out the broken screen and look for the model number label to find your part number - enter this in Google or eBay and you will find the correct replacement.

You do not need to run the exe file - simply drag and drop your original BIOS file on top of the exe file.

great vid but the X-clamp sucks I accidentally slipped my screwdriver & ended up with 6 little copper cables lifted up from the motherboard (e.g. the four cables connected at 12:31 to the retimer on both side). Is this fixable? The Xbox doesn't turn on now & I don't know how to search a solution, I'm a complete noob lol

Yes, repairing the traces is possible, but you will need a microscope and a steady hand!
