@@robertcarr4172 logitech isn't gonna make dd, they are covering the budget quantity market. Then fanatec sells one package logitech sells 30+ . I don't see logitech willing to take on the dd market

The reason why a lot of these Chinese DD wheel bases look so similar is because they're made from the same industrial servo category. They're just putting a slim enclosure over it and extending it a bit to house the electronics hardware. The crazy thing is that you can actually buy one of these 15Nm servos with the controller for like USD $500. The main difference is that the encoders tend to be lower resolution, and that you'll have to use a microcontroller to interface with the servo from your computer. Then there's the issue with getting a steering wheel with buttons to connect without tangling a cable, which is why most of these wheel bases connect wirelessly.

Enjoyed watching this and looking forward to the next vids. I've got an Accuforce V2 at the moment and I'm looking at either switching to this, the Moza or Fanatec systems

Moza or Simagic are what you want to go for. Immsource in its current state is beyond terrible. Fanatec is also an absolutely nightmare.

13:20 For induction coils, enameled wire is used. So although it looks like exposed copper, it has a transparent, non conductive coating so that the wire can be wound tightly around itself without causing shorts.

That DC jack looks a bit on the light side for the amount of current it has to handle? Looks a bit cheap and nasty considering how good everything else looks.

My mate owns an ET5 and the software is the worst either of us have ever used. The ET5 is absolutely useless for drifting and any snappy car like F1 cars. The base is extremely slow to respond, and has a very slow maximum rotation speed, even when set to the maximum in the software. Not to mention that the awful program takes about 2 minutes to load, causes his shifter to not work, teleports between his 2 monitors, and completely breaks if you drag it from a 1440p display to a 1080p one (or vice versa). So far I've had about 10 hours of experience with the ET5, and every single minute of it was absolutely horrible,

When you’re done with your test, chuck the ET 3 this way for further testing. Very beautiful bases so far. You see what your paying for.

You can see it, but you can't feel it, As someone who has extensively used an ET5, my advice is to avoid Immsource.

Seems like Immsource, Moza, SimMagic are selling the same gear with some differences in terms of the wheel base body. I wonder if these companies and any other company coming out of China is just licensing this from another company. Have you tried swapping wheel rims from the three companies and see if they work on one another? Example, Moza wheel with an immsource wheel base.

Cheap Chinese/Asian Copy of the Simucube design for less than half the Price? Right now there's about every alarm bell going off in my head. I'm looking forward to the Driving tests. Also long term reliability will be interesting.

@@sre6159 i already have my setup, and i found that waiting for long term reviews is the best option. I literally won't spend big money on what is basically a toy just to find out i got ripped off as soon as warranty runs out.

I see that there are more and more brands doing DD but I don't see that any of them offer a cheap product for 99% of the population. Let's remember that it is more than a washing machine motor controlled by software. Simcube remake? I think so.

I disagree. I think the price point for these DD bases meets the requirements for 99% of racing sim gamers IMO.These are prices lower than a decent mid range gpu and cheaper than a next gen console as well.

We are generally having reseller shipping costs passed on to us, plus 10% GST has to be included in the advertised price. The prices given by other distributors overseas may or may not include taxes.

A lot of electronic stuff is cheap in Oz, only when you get into niche IT and related gear does it go through the roof. I put some of it down to greed by the resellers and also a loading for our very strong consumer protection laws which come at a price compared to other western nations which make you lawyer up to get warranty. However the sums are simple if you take the $799 US price (which has a 20% reseller margin already built in) apply the 0.72 exchange rate that becomes $1112 Ozzie pesos add 10% GST is $1225 . Freight from China (where most of this stuff comes from) to capital cities in Oz is about 10% higher that west coast USA ) so it shouldn't be more than $1250Au retail for an $800US item. Even a 10% loading for warranty shouldn't make it any more than $1375MAX. Certainly some fat in that pricing.

Definitely are pretty rough prices but I checked the Racekraft store listing and the FD1 wheel is included in that price so do need to factor that in too

Simagic and immsource bases are made in the same factory, same servo motor just slight differences in usb and can port placement and wheel differences

Man.. I wish this was available when i bought my alpha mini set. The quality and features is above simagic, same level as simucube but priced as simagic... Whyowhy

@@boostedmedia it would be interesting to know if the lack of a pin system for the power delivery impacts the amount of inputs that can be available on a wheel, obviously that being a strong point of the fanatec and simagic systems over simucube, obviously the power delivery is still there in a different fashion but is it limited in any way by being essentially wireless? if it does i would think that is a rather large downside and they would be better off with just having the pin system like simagic right?

That's the wheel bending, not the QR moving. Try it on your car - it will move exactly the same That's enameled copper wire, it's fine. Used in every transformer and motor, so won't short out. Ok, the wheel appears to have some issues. Lol.
