I have never had the pleasure of smoking Wessex Burley Slice!! It sounds amazing 👌🏻Every time I remember it and look for it, it is always sold out lol 😂 You remind me so much of John Harden (Matches860), I love your stories!!

This is a wonderful blend, but yes it’s so difficult to acquire right now. Thank you so much for the kind words, that is the highest praise and it means a lot to me. I miss him very very much (as so many of us do)…he was so wonderful to listen to!

Too cold in CO to go out and smoke tonight... was looking forward to Smoking some Rivendale but don't want to chance craking a pipe, so now I am living vicariously through your smoking video... lol

Hello from Spain (Europe), friend. First, sorry for my English. I recently discovered your channel and I love it: pipe, tobacco reviews, calm, birds, reflection, nature, hobbits ... You give me a good vibe. Now I am watching your older videos. I have not tasted that tobacco. I haven't seen it here, but I have smoked Solani Aged Burley Flake and I love it. Kind regards. I tried this cutting ✂️ method on some Peter Stokkebye's Luxury Navy Flake today and man does it bring out the flavor! I think I cut it up too fine because it burned much hotter than usual. I'll definitely keep trying it, experimenting with exactly how fine to cut it because it seems to really help extract the flavors.

1st. Beautiful video. I use to own a farm that had a stream running thru it that looked just like it. Wonderful place to raise kids. I wish I was better at shredding those flakes. Thanks 🙏🏻.

I tried ABF in the past and I really liked it and I was wondering if I should give this blend a try so, I started reading and watching reviews and I found your channel for the first time. Really enjoyed the video. The tobacco review was good and I really loved the calm way you talk. I did two things right at the end of the video. I ordered a tin of Wessex and I subscribed. Hey Kevin, this was an awesome review. I had a crazy week and I was super happy to see that you had posted right when I sat down to smoke my pipe. And best of all I was smoking HH Burley Flake! This burley flake is definitely my favorite even over ABF. It takes similar to it but is much more available and cheaper as well. I suggest you try it. Best -Antonio

Smoking this blend while watching 🙂👍🏻 it’s like a beautiful nut brown ale. Love the leaf change too 😊 I don’t run this one out, I find it Burns great. ABF can be more “aggressive” for me too. For that reason I prefer this one. Hope you are doing great Kevin. Happy smokes

I've not tried this one yet sounds fantastic. Flakes have becomes my favorites so if I get the chance I'll try anything one. I can say I've not prepared my flake in such a way before, but I'll try it for sure. Love the reviews Kevin. Thanks for posting, peace.

From every burley blends I have smoked the tin note I get is always Raisin Bran every time I open up my jar of it I want Raisin Bran

Wonderful fall review Kevin! Makes me want to find a tin of Wessex Burley Slice and cube cut it. In my opinion Wessex is one of the few blending houses who still do Virginias well. I love their Gold Slice offering. Find some authentic Italian licorice if you can. It's a real treat for a flavor connoisseur. Comet block licorice, which is quite strong, is an extremely common ingredient used during processing of tobacco though my sources tell me that it may or may not have a noticeable effect on the final flavor. That red maple tree was certainly the shining co-star of this review!

Same here. I smoked a bowl of Semois yesterday and got an irritated spot again. I love that Semois, but it’s mostly aggressive for me and even today ODF irritated that same spot 24 hrs later. Never had this burley, but have a tin of ABF in my cellar to try. Great review again and take care.

@@hobbitonpiper odf is normally ok with me, but the irritation from the Semois a day earlier made odf hurt a bit also. I believe Wessex is not sold in eu unfortunately 😢

Nice review, Kevin. Burley is a solid base for many outstanding blends and holds it own quite well standing on its own. Interesting, descriptions of this blend say 'Return of original Richmond recipe'. Cocoa, nuty-ness, and toasted grain are all part of the characteristic Burley flavor profile. Given what I've learned about what you look for in a good tobacco and your preferences, I suspect that WBS will find a spot in your 'permanent' cellar. Is the bridge and trail in your opening close to where you live? It looks like a great place to lunt. Your reminiscence of going with your Papaw and Dad into the woods to walk your Papaw's dog is not only of a great memory, but of a wonderful flavor-aroma recollection. There is a special quality to fallen autumn leaves. Depending on the trees it can be earthy, spicy, savory, or all three. In a tobacco blend that quality invokes autumn anytime you smoke it. Hey Kevin, smoking some Peterson 3 P's in an Ascorti here. How interesting, essentially turning that into a cube cut Burley. This makes me think I have a new use for a variety of guillotine cigar cutters I have aside from cutting slices for my rope tobacco. Any cube cut Burley I come across has a real chocolate flavor profile and tin note. I'm going to try this with a couple of the burley flakes I have. I'll let you know how that works.
