What decorum appropriate gauntlets do you think are good buys? Tell us the good, bad, and the ugly!

As someone who used to play in Amtgard, and currently in the SCA I highly recommend Torvaldr gauntlets. They are wax hardened leather clamshells that I at least didn't have to modify. You can find him in the SCA sale groups on Facebook. I bought mine second hand for about $150, I don't recall what he usually asks, but customizations are available.

I agree. Torvaldr does great work too. He made my knees years ago.
