Harrods is the sort of shop for people who think that the more expensive something is, the better it must be. So no surprise at all that its cafe is overpriced and not all that good. Sausage bacon and eggs are not posh expensive foods, they should simply never cost that much.

Totally agree with your summary on the value Gary - Harrods or not you expect to get food that is worthy to eat. Its the first time I have ever seen greens on a full english breakfast and hopefully the last. Apart from the eggs the rest of the food didn't look appetising to me at all and the price for the tea is just taking the mickey!! Look forward to the next place you go to!

I've come to the conclusion that Harrods isn't about repeat business, it's about hitting your wallet (or purse) as hard as possible :) I was truly expecting you to give a 2 out of 10 on this one. And all that Rocket salad, that wasn't even done for presentation, nor would you consume that much with, of all things, a Full English Breakfast. Thanks for these videos, they're telling me to avoid Harrods at all costs :)

Overdone? No, it looked pretty good to me. I like mine even crispier, provided it is between two slices of bread. Otherwise, it shoots off the plate when trying to cut it. I'm not sure why they have served rocket with a full English. It looked very good, but I can get an equally good full English at less than half the Harrod's price.

What a racket Harrods are running. I would prefer a proper breakfast at a good local cafe or a truckstop. Got loads of good options on the Wirral where I live.

Agreed Gary, what an utter disappointment that was. I also hate it when places pile food on top of each other - what are they hiding? Paolo's cafe blows Harrods out of the water any day of the week!

I can get a full English here in Thailand with two poached eggs, 2 sausage, 2 back bacon, black pudding, mushroom, beans, tomato, toast and tea for under 200 baht. (£5). Thats 6000 miles away and its still decent. 🇹🇭

At almost £40 for breakfast, I would have sent that whole thing back to have the bacon replaced and the rabbit food removed. That stuff wasnt watercress, it was rocket and it has no place on an English breakfast. Make sure you get a freshly cooked and plated meal by cutting everything in half so they have to do it all afresh - a tip given to me by a restaurant owner.

Burnt bacon, dry bread(good as it may be), and undressed rocket(arugula in the US). Don't think that is worth £24. I really don't understand the obsession that restaurants have with rocket now. It seems to be on everything and it is a very bitter green. Definitely not something that you just want to eat as is in this large quantity that they gave you.

Hi Gary another great clip, i agree with you 100% for that price you expect a lot better than that, and leaving stuff because its cooked incorrectly is just not on. I suspect there's not a proper chief in the kitchen, as they would never let bacon go out like that. I think if you sent Harrods a copy of this vlog they would sort it out as they have a reputation to keep, looking forward to the next vlog. Chris.

Great video, Gary. When you have time and energy, I suggest trying the polar opposite to Harrods Cafe and go to Frankie's, Edgware Rd NW9 6NB. There's a long queue on Sunday mornings and a favourite with the locals.

No way this the most expensive breakfast in London. A few years ago I had breakfast at a small but exquisite cafe in Mayfair. To start, a tiny glass of orange juice was £8.00 so you can imagine how much everything else cost. Glad my company was paying for it.

I love these reviews, I don't go out for meals very often and enjoy seeing these, some look so delicious and what honest comments too.Hope the cameraman gets to eat aswell

As for the service charge... Tell them to remove it from your bill. You only have to pay the service charge if it is made clear verbally or in writing before the meal. If the restaurant doesn't make this clear or if the service is poor, you do not have to pay this charge even if it's compulsory.

The bacon was definitely cooked for the American tourist. It looked perfect to me 😂

Hi again Love Harrods use to pop to Harrods a lot in my lunch breakr when working had to bring back apple doughnuts for my staff. Breakfast looked great love a bit of "Green stuff" bacon looked great love my bacon very well cooked , eggs looked perfection. Thanks to you I think I will visit the cafe and have a breakfast one day. I feel its worth the money as to where you are and the presentation.

Have you tried breakfast at a Hawksmoor? It’s the best fry up breakfast I’ve ever had. You’d need three of you though as it’s massive. Those poached eggs look absolutely delicious and I bet the tea was particularly delicious. Crikey I’m hungry now and it’s 2.30am. 😭

Gary, Another excellent video. I like crispy bacon, but surely if it is advertised as a 'Full English' then it should always be rashers of back bacon. Spot on regarding pricing and quality when compared with other establishments, but you know you are going to pay well over the odds the moment you step through Harrods' doors.

Hi Gary , new subscriber here. Liking your style, pay your money and take your chance. If the food is crap you wont go back and any of your viewers will know to give the place a miss. What a lot of people forget though, that 6 sq foot in Harrods for your table would be approx £90 - £120 per day . Where as in a bog standard cafe it would equate to maybe 80p - £1.20 per day.

Unless I'm very much mistaken, despite those eggs looking perfectly cooked, it looked to me like they had been cooked using the cling film method as you can see the twisted cling film marks on the eggs. Not something you would expect to see at such a place 🤔

Last time I was in Harrods was in 2005, it seems things have gone downhill from then. Personally I like extra crispy bacon but have to agree with you with the green stuff; it doesn’t look like an English breakfast, more like something from France/Italy. Maybe they do better with the more exotic cuisine. I recall that on the 4th floor there was a Georgian period restaurant that did really good roast beef but that’s probably gone/replaced now

As Harry Enfield's character would say, 'I saw you coming!' I visited Harrods in London last year. Their 'Shropshire Blue' cheese was definitely off, it tasted like stale chewing gum & I told them so! They ignored me! Next, I visited their furniture department where, after close inspection, I observed very few drawers were dovetailed! End of inspection, I'd seen enough!

It does look like a nice cuppa. Too much green stuff for a FEB. Love your upbeat videos Gary. Suggestion: Pebble Beach Fish Restaurant, Gosport, Hampshire. Years since I’ve been. They used to do a cracking organic FEB at a reasonable price. Beautiful view of the Isle of Wight and the Solent. Might be worth a look. Thanks for your efforts.

These places putting a service charge on the bill. Cheeky imo. If I want to leave a tip, I will leave a tip but don't you dare put a tip on the bill.

Was in Harrods last week. And to be honest its no more expensive than on the internet for some goods. Ok there are items that carry spectacular prices but quality and design always come with a hefty price tag. Overall the Food Hall was amazing. I had the 3 sandwich bun thing with Lobster, Shrimp and Egg Mayo cost £8.00. Compare that to Greggs its double the price. But you are eating Lobster. Overall Harrods was an amazing store best we have ever been in. Worthy of its billing as the best out there. Or walk over the road to Caffè Concerto that is seriously good and coffee same price as Costa or Starbucks and meals and cakes are good prices.

I cant tell you how good they are, i honestly think theyd give Pellici a run for their money for half the price. A real community hub and people who really care about the food they serve. Afternoon Gary, boy oh boy a video you can get your teeth into 😮 Again a pile it high job. This one with its own camouflage covering,could hide a sniper in there!! But,this is a food vlog,so the food.Your in Harrods,can't complain about cost. The bacon was actually to my liking. Very,very crispy. The sausages looked very tasty (and you got 2😅) Well cooked tomato.The eggs spot on❤ We gather that Harrods are proud of their signature " sourdough " bread,and so they maybe,but as customers we,i feel should have a choice, with the range available it should be a simple ask😮White, Wholemeal, Bloomer ect ect. Re the tea,did you get a jug of hot water? Or has that passed like Trams & Penny farthings 😂. Be careful what you show the the camera technical operator, may get ideas above 'is station or want paid holidays next😮😮 'Til the next one Cheers Allan&Family

That's probably one of the worse looking breakfasts!! The garden on top, bacon so cremated you could break a tooth, toast under the food and not on a side plate,, the only good looking thing was the eggs, unfortunately peppered! Oh dear

You were being very generous with your score ... i would have given it 3! One for the eggs, one for the sourdough and 1 for the sausage. That's very expensive for some nicely cooked eggs, a nice sausage and some good sourdough, Harrods or no Harrods. It's not a real English breakfast, doesn't even look like one and what's with the plant on the top. That's a real waste of fresh food. I agree with your words...they're taking the mick because of it being Harrods. On a brighter note i hope, in the future, you do a few London afternoon tea reviews.

Another thing that struck me was the colour of the tea after you added the milk - more grey/brown than the reddish/brown I would expect from a quality breakfast tea...reminds of a few years ago, when a friend was bought some Harrods biscuits by a neighbour for looking after her cats while she was in London - you can bet they were similarly expensive, but were just like decent supermarket ones, and in a box with a plastic insert which the biscuits didn't even fit into properly! A sure mark of cheap mass production with no regard for the details. Sadly so many 'premium' brands are participating in the 'race to the bottom' symptomatic of global capitalism these days...get everything as cheaply as possible to cut overheads and let quality hang...remember Paxman complaining about M&S pants? It seems some brands are trading purely on the name recognition, rather than the assurance of quality they used to represent. You should have complained and asked for some freshly-cooked bacon at that price...that had clearly been sitting in a warmer for an hour at least to get that hard and inedible...you might expect and even accept that at a £5 buffet breakfast place and just use egg yolk or tinned tomato juice to soften it up - but at Harrods? Everyone should send that back.

Its not even a full English.

It was quite fashionable a few years ago for 'aspirational' restaurants to pile up the contents of your plate, which basically does nothing for the practicalities of eating it it but gives them licence to charge a few bob extra, as it allegedly looks 'posher'. Thankfully most have given up in that trend, Harrods still clinging on it seems. Honest but polite review as usual Gary, keep 'em coming.

Great video as always. Been to Harrods a few times, to view rather than buy. My wife and her friends will meet up once in a while for glass of wine (for the experience) but I think with no intention of actually buying anything else. So will be very interesting in your experience (presses play). / OK good review, not impressed with that at all. Let me contrast two experiences over the years. 1) Was doing a job at Erith in East London, to be fair not the nicest place to be (but I met lovely people). We started work at 0600. At 1100 we would go to a trucker cafe near by. OMG - an omelette made with six eggs, chopped mushrooms and chopped bacon. Amazing - was £5 - ok 10 years ago, but still amazing value. 2) I travel around the UK - Premier Inn is a regular stay. Breakfast is a mixed bag, but when it is good (and has been good many times), you eat as much as you like for about 1/4 of what you paid. Might not have the ambience, but quite frankly a quiet pub in the early hours is more preferable to me than Harrods in London. / So I think 5/10 is personally generous ! Mark.

Hi gary.....just found your channel, and subscribed. 🙋 The Harrods breakfast was well out of my price range. However ( I'm vegan...yeah i know 🤷) if i ate eggs and bacon thats how I'd want mine cooked. Runny eggs and bacon done to a crisp. Got a lot if catching up to do, so I'll get on with it.

Thanks mate for saving me a trip, ffs even Dick Turpin wore a mask lol. I thought you were very generous with the 5 I’d have given 2-3 for the good eggs and decent tea. As for it being in harrods the staff are barely on minimum wage so there’s no justification in nearly £40 for a breakfast! And I hope the surcharges are shared amongst staff. So thanks for the vid and next trip to London I’ll definitely go the Paolo’s and that French steak house👍

After a few days out camping in the peaks, we ran into a little cafe that did the best full english I've had, with a coffee and apple juice for £12! Locally sourced sausages, eggd and homeade black pudding!

You should check out the regency cafe in Pimlico Marco and Claudia will sort you right out. Their sausages are proper their eggs are almost always perfect and very fresh. If you go on the day Claudia is working you get the added entertainment of her shouting the orders out when ready. Its a miracle to behold. I normally go quite early because there is aften a long line outside to get in.

One of the best breakfasts in London if you don’t mind the price is at Hawksmoor. It’s about 38 quid but it feeds two easily.

One of the best values for money in London is the set breakfast at Regency Cafe even if you add on the black pudding and bubble. Plus it is better quality than what you were served this time. Cheers.

Just discovered your channel and loving the videos. The breakfast here is definitely not value for money, but I suppose it was good of them to exchange mushrooms for extra meat - most places won’t do this. The eggs did look delicious and look like top quality eggs (judging by the colour of the yolk). I think they’ve been poached wrapped in plastic - hence the really neat shape of them. Like I say, looked delicious (though a bit pretentious to cover the whole thing in rocket!) but not worth £24.

There is a fine line between 'posh' and pretentious. For £24 I would be furious with burnt streaky as my offering of bacon, the eggs looked quite good but I'd rather not have my food served without a hat on it? I'm sure the surroundings helped bump the score but for me luckily we have several local cafés doing breakfasts ranging from£5.50-9.00 and I wouldn't even call them greasy spoons with their excellent quality and value for money. Great video and I look forward to more✌️🍻

Another enjoyable review mate, I will disagree on the bacon I like my bacon crispy to rather crispy! I have eaten at Harrods Cafe once in a blue moon due to the pricing! There are soooo many cracking greasy spoon cafes in London that serve the works for a tenna .. with no service charge !!! try the the Regent cafe nr Victoria station .. absolutely blinding place 👍 I’d give it a measly 3

I was just in London last week. Had full English breakfast in a restaurant called Natural Kitchen in Tower Hill, it cost £17. It was really good.

Your very honest with the score maybe I would of had the mushrooms and give a 6 but no more would I go their again

Did think the bacon looked over done although i do like crispy , people don't realise cooking bacon is an art, the problem with it is as soon as it goes from hot straight from the pan it starts to go hard if not eat right away, the egg yolk looked so fresh & a beautiful colour though

Outrageous that was, i have had finer breakfasts beside the motorway in greasy spoon cafe's at a fraction of the price, can't justify that price to be fare i would rather donate my money rather than be had off so to speak, cheers and thanks for the vlog.

Top tip. Go to Weymouth, Upstairs Downstairs Cafe, English breakfast. It’s 112 miles and 2hrs 50min from me and I go there once a month.
