Reviewing Crochet Hooks // YARNOLOGY Hooks // Are they worth it?

Yarnology hooks are priced right but are they any good? I stopped by Hobby Lobby and picked up these crochet hooks to review so we can all find out if these hooks really are a good deal.

I have the full set of the flowered ones and I Love Them !!! I use them exclusively.

They are nice and almost an exact dupe for the Prym hooks. I love using them with slippery yarns. I find that they help me have better control. 😁💜

I absolutely LOVE the rubbery ones they are great so smooth I bought one to try it out and feel in love and went back and bought more 😂

Great review on the hooks. Love the cup & saucer yarn bowl but can’t find it online. I’ve Prym, Yarnology like the ones w/the flowers, Furls, Clover Amours n my absolute favorite Ommi. Except for the clovers which I’m not crazy abt, I love all the others n they work well. A little tip that I find helps me: I clean my resin or plastic hooks with alcohol prep or wax paper for a smoother glide.

Thank you for your review of the HL hooks. I heard the new ones were similar to Clover, but now seeing the fibers on the handle that would drive me nuts.

Yes. It’s a real shame about the fibers sticking to the handle. Otherwise they are VERY similar to clover and feel great in the hand.

These are my total favourites...tried Furls, Clover etc etc....keep coming back to them...personal choice 🧶💕

@@ItsTimeforYarn I was amazed how they glide thru the stitches. I think everyone's hands & grips are different so whatever works is my motto...fun trying new ones too...I've just ordered som Ommi to try. Happy crocheting 🧶

Thank you! I always appreciate hook reviews since there are so many to choose from. I’ve tried Clovers-they’re just ok. I have 3 large size Pryms that I really like because the head has a strong point on it. That’s what’s important to me. My favorite hooks are a “Pony” set that I purchased on Amazon. Very affordable and nice points on the heads.

It's crazy how the little aspects of a hook, like the head, can have such a large impact on if we enjoy them or not. I love large hooks since I'm a blanket maker and love chunky 5 and bulky 6 yarn.

Great review! Your descriptions were very detailed and helped me understand the hooks better. I’m one of those with my fingers all the way at the top lol, so I wouldn’t like that long shaft!

I was surprised that it was so long. I’m gonna try one of the Prym hooks to see if they’re long like that too.

Yes! They are pricey but are so comfortable to work with. I snatched them up when I saw those clearance stickers. 😁💜

You have to get the ones that are shiny so much better I love those flowered hooks but clover are my favorite

I love yarn bowls I did not like the loopy cut in the cup and saucer I saw pioneer woman had cups and saucers for planters that same size so I use those and I have the cat with the yarn, also aldi had cups and saucers and tea pots also hobby lobby has planters red and yellow with white dots I have 4 planters and the cat

I had some hooks with a rubbery grip like that. NOT good for working when it's hot out. If your hands get tacky/sweaty. And they get sticky and the build up is tough to keep clean. I threw them out. Have a good night.

Because of my arthritis I need a thicker handle, but I am allergic to rubber and latex. If you need a thicker handle Susan Bates puts their hooks inside od a wooden shaft.

I believe they are. I haven’t seen them before either. I’m partial to Susan Bates acrylic hooks but the one Clover hook I have is really comfortable.

If the rubber grip was better, the tie dye one would be perfect. I’ve tried out their simple plastic hook as well and I like that one. I have a couple more to try out still so we’ll see if I find any that I really enjoy.

You got some great deals on those hooks. I really liked the resin Furls but they are so expensive. I've been using resin Ommi hooks now that you can find in & out of stock at Amazon for around $11. The shape is like Furls but they are longer(7 inchesl)so they aren't poking your hand. I absolutely love them. They also have wood ones but I prefer the resin, it glides a bit better. Thanks for watching! I don’t have any furls yet but they’re on my list to try. I haven’t found a wooden hook that I like yet. I’m not giving up just yet but I definitely prefer the resin hooks too.
