I want you to review and compare pain cream, definitely the hot packs, nutrition shakes, and hydration drinks for sure!!! I really liked this compare video! Hopefully going to get some Salonpas soon.

I love videos like this. It's hard to find content on KZfaq that addresses chronic pain in a proactive way like this! I personally use Stopain roll-on and I swear by it. As you say, it obviously doesn't fully cure the pain, but I properly feel it work and I always have one on me for some relief :) Again, thank you for talking about pain, it genuinely means so much to see other people go through it as well although of course I wish no one did.

I love Salonpas. I've used them for years. A dear friend introduced them to me when you could only order them through the Asian markets. She would cut them to fit the body parts she wanted.

I have been buying Dollar General generic version of icy hot. for years. It cost about $4.50 for 5 or 6 of them. I routinely cut them about half of them in half as soon as I get home from the store so for smaller areas of pain it works fine for me. Also Dollar General has coupons almost every week for $5 off a $25 order. You can find that on your receipt or get it on your phone. I have had some issues with it just falling off. I have also forgot I had it on and it getting stuck to my clothes and washing it and drying it with it on my clothes. It's a mess when you do that by the way. Several times I have found one of my patches in my front yard etc.. Just falls off while I am walking. However the pain relief I got from it still was worth it to me so I still continued to use it for so long. I had been using this for years along with some OTC. I was always sleeping with it over night. I never worried about wiping the residue off when I was done with it. I eventually developed an allergy to it after doing this for so long. I recommend to always wipe off the residue after you use any of these patches to prevent developing an allergy.

You could review the difference between rice packs(microwaveable), gel packs, water bottles, and heating pads for most effectiveness. I know you've probably got a heating pad already, Walgreens has the rice packs(they look like tube socks with a nylon rope at both end) relatively cheap, and gel packs come in different varieties from the ice/heat gel pack to the ones with gel beads. As for the pain patches, after trying the aspercreme ones, I had pain management write a script for lidocaine patches. Aspercreme didn't work, but I had to try them. I can't use most of the others because of an allergy to menthol and eucalyptus.

I learned about Salonpas years ago from an older woman. And yes, it’s a pretty good choice, especially price wise. Did once try the Walgreens knockoff but no, just no.Not at all the same unless they have changed their version since then. If someone prefers the others for some reason, you can cut them into smaller pieces. Thanks for the review. I use because of late life scoliosisthat bends to the right. Nothing really gives as much relief as I need, Salonpas or lidocaine cream do give some relief.❤😊

Just a little thought for you, buy the bigger patches and cut them to the size that you need and put it in a zip lock bag and be sure to press out all the air out and it will still work with in 24 hours or longer (haven’t tested how long they will last once opened)! Hope you find this helpful! Just thinking the larger ones could be more cost effective! AND YES PLEASE DO THE THERMAL PATCHES! (Try cutting to size though if you can’t find the right ones and let us know how that works for YOU)! Thank you once again for all your informative videos!!!! Xoxo

My favorite Otc pain patch is the icy hot with Lidocaine! It combines the hot and cold therapy with the numbing of lidocaine. When I can't get these I will use the plain Lidocaine patches. I mainly use for my left hip, my worst joint. or my sacrum. I have also had great relief from a certain medical Cannabis patch from a dispensary in FL. called Muv. The one I like is a 1:1 ratio of THC/ CBD and it lasts for 72hrs! It's really effective and it stays on really well. ✌️💚

Everyone has his or her own experience relating to this drug, but to me, Fentanyl taphpharma.com/product/fentanyl-patches/ is an opioid used as a pain medication and together with other medications for anesthesia. This has been my helper and that of my mom and dad for about 9 years. I will recommend this drug to anyone sufering from pain and severe pain with no doubt, it offers 100% satisfaction. Fentanyl is also used as a recreational drug, often mixed with heroin or cocaine. It has a rapid onset and its effects generally last less than two hours.

I was given given IV medication in the ER for am pain when back pain struck that was way worse that the arm. I was given a lidocaine patch for it that completely muted it. I slept about 10 hours when I left the ER and the patch was still in place. Also had no smell. I got a prescription for 30, 5%; not sure what the strength was for the patches in this video. My patches are as big as the tiger balm patches, but can be cut them down to size. This was very interesting as Ive never really used pain patches, so I'm going to try some experimenting. Thanks for the ideas.

YAY YAY YAY! I definately got way too excited to see this video and that you'd tried salonpas... I'm a dork and was getting all nervous building up to you reviewing it, hahaha, in really excited you liked it! The price is definately a big winning point for me, lol... Like you said, it's cheap enough you don't have to feel like you gotta save them for special occasion etc ;) I don't really feel like they work for 8 hours, i forgot the box said that, haha, but yeah, I... Don't know what I was gonna say now but thanks for reviewing all these! I like salonpas cause even if it might not really do much for some pain, it at least makes me feel like I'm doing something, so it helps in that way Also, my FAVORITE use is for periods cramps, which I'm sure isn't a typical use, but it doesn't say not to, and honestly it's really the only thing that helps my cramps be kinda tolerable and it seems like it even reduces nausea when I use it for cramps, idk how that really makes sense, but even if it's placebo, that's fine hehe... Beware though, if you keep putting a patch on in the same place over and over again, it will give a mild rash burn thingie... Which isn't healthy so I try to be careful about it when I use it for cramps especially, though for me I really don't find the skin irritation very irritating or painful, but just... Obviously best to avoid doing that regardless ;) So my "hack" that I do so I can have relief from period cramps pretty continually without bothering the skin in that area, is that I'll usually start out by using one patch in the center area (I stick it, like, around where my cramps are worst, so basically like right under the elastic for my undies), but then when I'm done with that patch (honestly I probably change it after closer to 4 hours, depending on if I'm sleeping or whatever... Though they also tend to get weaker strength over time after you've opened the foil pouch... And make sure to actually follow the very clear directions to keep the unused ones in the pouch with the top folded over a couple times... I'm not really sure how I managed to miss that memo so impressively, haha, but otherwise they kinda "go stale" as I call it... Cause I'm a weirdo like that, hehe... Aka, they lose their strength... I've figured out that the amount of smell they have left is a good indicator of how strong they still are, so if you find they don't have as strong a smell and it doesn't feel like it's doing very much... You're likely right ;) That's definately another super obvious thing that likely everyone else would figure out, but... Uh, yeah, just sharing my wisdom of obvious, cause maybe I'm not the only one, hehe ;)
@likeabunnie
@likeabunnie 4 жыл бұрын
Definately didn't say the point about using for cramps! I meant to say that I'll use the one regular, but then when it's not working well enough for me anymore, I'll cut one of the patches in half, and stick each half on either side of where I'd placed the original patch that I removed, so that it's not being applied over the same area of skin... Also, I'm pretty sure when I've irritated my skin (it doesn't really hurt or anything, i can just see the skin gets red and displeased when I've reapplied patches to same area over and over again... Pretty much always it's been for cramps, and that's more sensitive skin, and it's because I've not payed attention or cared because... Cramps. Hehe. But also I definately wasn't usually waiting 8 hours to switch them out, cause cramps are just... Yeah, it feels like they stop working for me after 2-4 hours... And being exposed to air seems to be what makes them become less effective (after awhile, not instantly or anything), but likely when i change them out way more frequently, I'm thinking like, it's likely gonna be greater amount of whatever magic it holds inside of it... But I've been upright way too much today and I'm way "drunk" (meaning not drunk but just... The feeling like my brain isn't getting quite enough blood for awhile and just... I guess that's brain fog but it feels like... That's not a fitting word, either, haha. Idk, but sorry about this ramble Oh the other weird thing I really like salonpas for is I'll stick one on my forehead when I've got really bad headache/migraine in the front area... So yeah, I do walk around with a patch on my head in public sometimes haha, I don't even care, plus now I walk around sporting my sexy aspen vista neck brace so that's ALWAYS conversation starter... Regardless of how much I'd like random people to stop questioning me, lol ;) I suppose I can still *be* a head turner, even when I can't turn my head? Hahaha... I just thought of that and I'm far too amused by my goofy joke hehehe! Anyways, I'm not saying it's safe or smart to stick patch on your head, I've got no idea, I'm just saying *I* do it, and it's kinda helpful sometimes, other times I think it's just helpful because it's there so I feel like I'm able to do *something* for my head when nothing else is working... I find the scent rather reassuring to be honest, maybe just classical conditioning at play, since I know that sometimes it helps with some types of pain, maybe just smelling it and knowing I've got it on helps in placebo way for some pains that it might it not really be doing much of anything for? Idk but yeah, they are cheap and I love them and always glad to feel like I've got another option to try :)

Ps DON'T GET THE CVS BRAND... they are like twice the price at CVS vs Walmart or other places anyways, but they don't seem to work as well, and CVS brand sticks *way* crazy strong and is just... Ridiculous... Just fyi to anyone I know I'm way too excited about this topic, I'm a weirdo, but it's not my fault no one in my regular life wants to talk about all the delightful uses for pain patches with me... Or any of the other super interesting topics, like what I've learned from KZfaq neurosurgery lectures... The dogs don't even humor me and pretend to listen, hehe ;)

@likeabunnie
@likeabunnie 4 жыл бұрын
I hadn't heard that, but I know that some of us (unfortunately I'm one of them, lol) don't really get any impact from novacaine... That stuff has NEVER numbed me! I think I'm just gonna have dentures in the not so far future even though I'm only 31 but I've got such thin enamel on my teeth and I just genuinely can't deal with fillings anymore, it's hell and I just... Can't. So that's fun haha. But yeah, I wonder if lidocaine and novacaine are related... Even if not, I'll just say that even prescription lidocaine patches did absolutely nothing for me. Like, not even a bit. I didn't have the eds diagnosed at the time and the doctors thought I was seeking pain medications because they refused to believe that the prescription lidocaine patches didn't do anything for me, but genuinely... I felt zero difference, other than having a thick gooey sticker on me haha. Salonpas are my fav, or (depending on what type of pain and where) there's the gel/cream stuff that comes in a roller thingie and it's like 8% menthol. Both are otc ;) Anyways, thanks for sharing, cause I'd been wondering if lidocaine was one of those things that doesn't work for some eds peeps like it does for typical people... I felt validated when Izzy didn't feel like it was helpful for her so I feel more validated now, hehe... Thanks! :)

She said they weren't too expensive but so far the cost per amount ratio is not working for me. If I need one everyday I leave the house in the winter I will be spending hundreds on them. I use the Salonpas cream it works when my pain is not too bad and it worked for some people with mostly muscle pain I think. The good thing about the cream is you put it where and the amount you want. Depending on what kind of pain you have don't be afraid to try different things, I found ibuprofen works better if you always have some in your bloodstream. I've been to pain clinics and met people in the waiting room that live with unbelievable pain every day of their lives. The doctors are now afraid to give them the drugs that will alleviate their pain, but what people don't realize is when you cut them off many times those people go to heroin or commit suicide. Good luck with your journey. TheReaper!

great review,. Pain Patches works better in terms of duration than any creams, and cheap too,. even if your skin is really thin and sensitive, dont forget to use water to take it off. just get it wet for a while and it will be easy to remove the patches,. for anoying extreme pain, there is also extreme pain patches (more hot, more stick to the skin, longer duration, probably more smelly as well, price mostly the same)

Hey, Im assuming you have EDS. I do too. I've got vascular form but a lot of the characteristics of hypermoble. We thought I had hypermoble because of all of my dislocations but after I became paralyzed and had two organ ruptures and my moms one organ rupture my doctors were like hmmmm... but have you tried icy hot extra strength? Ive been currently using Salanpas for breakthrough pain just because I have the MTHFR gene mutation so it took my pain specialist about a year to find something to help me at all and by that, I mean, I was having seizures, passing out and going into shock from my pain before. what i'm on takes me down to the point im still bedbound most days but able to function from bed or the couch and sometimes get a few hours a day where I can do something. I could go up on my meds but I told my doctor no just because Im at a mid level in strength, its the only thing that has worked and once I hit the max dose my only option left is a pain pump and if I said what I was on you would get it but since other people see this I cant mention it here but I agree. salanpas does work, but if anything is better id love to know, and oh yeah, I believe you said the name right. I pronounce it the same way you do.

Oh no! I'm so sorry that happened to you... I've often thought of how I'm lucky that my skin isn't as fragile as many others with eds (and other conditions, too) since I'm able to use salon pas... I think they are not too sticky relative to some of the other types I've tried (but only the name brand, cause I got CVS brand once and it was crazy sticky and it took off some skin with it for me even)...though I know everyone's skin is different and even if salon pas is less adhesive than some others, I realize that could be what you're referring to, and even if not, I can't imagine I'd be too keen to test other patches if there was a fair chance that it'd take off my skin with it... Kinda defeats the point of decreasing pain if it causes pain and skin removal! I hope you're able to find other things that help... My other go to for pain is 8% menthol, they make cream and also a kind that comes in a roller thing so you don't have to get your hands all greasy applying it, so I like that... But I'm so sorry it took your skin with it, that's never good!

Hi Izzy! I am trying to sort out my own health issues and have been watching just about all of your videos. Thank you btw, you are very good at getting a lot of information into shorter videos! I have pots symptoms along with a number of other issues. I have a couple theories about what may be going on but I was hoping you’d be able to answer two important factors for me to consider. 1. How much does your POTS symptoms vary? Is the high heart rate upon standing there 100% of the time regardless before you began any medications to try to help? And 2. Did you have every hormone produced by your hypothalamus and pituitary gland checked to make sure they are all functioning properly? That second one is really important for me to know if doctors did check those things for you before the pots confirmation because of how much those two small organs run our bodies and help us recover from illnesses and traumas. With how knowledgeable you are about the POTS, and your health in general due to all your complications, I’d be interested to see how much we match. My tilt table test to confirm/deny POTS isn’t until mid December so I have my doctor running labs for my hormone levels now before sending me to yet another specialist while I feel like I’m dying internally right now. I’ve seen a lot of my lab results are off, so I’m waiting for my doctor to actually review it all before just trying to send me to an endocrinologist next. It’s frustrating when you have to try to be your own doctor because your issues are all over the place and your doctors just are stumped. Thanks again Izzy!! 🥰

Oh my gosh you HAVE to try TopCare pain patches, they are super small but SO DANG STRONG and they are actually really super effective and last all night and all day if you don't mess with them. They work out really well for small areas and you put them on the pain part of your pain and it numbs it from there on out. IT IS SO CHEAP TOO!! under 5 dollars for 40 patches. THEY ARE AMAZING AND SO HELPFUL!!!!

Hey Izzy! So I have slipping rib on my left side lower ribs and it hurts probably 75 percent of the time and I'd love to see if and how you tape yours or if you ever tried a brace. It bothers me most when I'm sitting and I can't ever seem to get relief. Thank you!

There is a gigantic difference between active medications. Menthol and eucalyptus are not Lidocaine. The Caine in lidocaine is the same Caine as in benzocaine and even CoCaine. Medically they are all local anesthetics

I've tried Salonpas but it burned my skin. With chronic prednesone use my skin is really thin and sensitive. Wish I could use it. I have to use the lidocaine patches and just cut them to size. I also use the generic store brand lidocaine patches but they are a bit too wet. I guess they dry out but it feels gross.
