You are spot on. A place I used to work had most of the different varieties...tried them.all and it honestly has ruined me for hot chocolate. The round shape is so it fits in most mugs...pour hot milk over it...O M Goodness. Talk about "yes daddy"

Ah, that explains why stone ground chocolates sold in my country don't have the texture. Taza isn't available in my country, but I _loved_ the texture and have been consistently disappointed by other stoneground chocolates because they're just "normal texture". Now I know what to look for at least!

I’d actually love this - I know the audience probably skews quite young because of the style of show it is and therefore not that many parents, but I’d love to see something about how to introduce a kid to cooking and some easy/safe recipes. Child-safe recipes might also double as easy recipes for people with fine motor issues, where holding a knife isn’t always possible!

I don't know what country you live in, so do you mean what I would call "box dinners"? Like, Hamburger Helper and Kraft Mac n Cheese/Kraft Dinner? Or do you mean something that is refrigerated or in a deli hotcase?

@@RikuKyuutu in the UK at supermarkets (Tesco, Sainsbury’s, M&S, etc.) you can buy readymade meals but they don’t always taste the best. You get different pre cooked meals in boxes which you can put in the microwave and have a meal in 5-8 minutes. Extremely popular, would be great if the guys could get 10-15 of these meals and elevate them in not more than 10 minutes (time it takes to microwave approx) to something tastier.

Yup, that'd be a good one. Like a frozen pizza gets SO much better if you just add some oregano and basil to it.

I feel like that goes against their entire vibe of "making food yourself is better than buying takeaway or ready meals" tho. There's plenty of shortcut vids they show to make good quality homecooked meals in a limited time. Try their 15 minute meal battle they did a while back, Mike managed to make a chicken breast thai *red curry and jasmine rice in 15 when he thought the brief was 30. They've also got like 4 or 5 20 minute meal battles they did and if you're really stuck there's jamie oliver's 15 min meal videos. It'll take you more than 15 mins for almost all the recipes at least the first few times but it shows you how quickly it can be done if you know what you're doing.

I thought so too, I am from El Salvador we have something called chocolate de tablilla which is sold in a similar way and is also used to make hot chocolate I imagine they taste similar

@@superboysdad I’m from El Salvador, too, and had just commented the same thing. Have you tried Belú Cacao chocolates? She’s won international prizes for her artisanal chocolate and her delicious tablilla has cinnamon, coriander seed and nutmeg. Best hot chocolate I’ve ever had!

The company Taza is based in Massachusetts, USA. Around here, we usually eat it straight. People either love it or hate it because of the texture.

@@terichewbaccazulu5908 I like to eat it, and many others in Mesoamérica like to eat it, too, but it’s not the best chocolate experience because of its texture, although its flavor profile could be awesome if the artisans are mixing the right combination of spices with really good chocolate beans. However, it’s original purpose was for making hot chocolate and that’s why its texture isn’t an issue in our countries.

If you mean just that children kind of get on your nerves, then that's fine too, but I'm pretty sure everyone has a few videos that they just aren't interested in from their favorite content creators. Ignoring a video and waiting a few days for the next one is free.

My mother worked full time and there were 7 of us kids. I have 5 older sisters and a little brother. She hates cooking and so since the cook doesn't have to do dishes at age 11 I started helping as I hate dishes. Absolutely hate washing up. So she taught me a lot of crock pot dishes and other shortcuts like getting home from school and putting 3 loaves of frozen bread dough out to rise for the week. But I spent a lot of time with my grandmother and great gran learning to cook(I think its because I love to eat really lol)and I slowly took over cooking and learning bread from scratch etc. My daughter had no wish to cook but my son did. Well years later and both my older grandkiddos love to cook with me with the baby wanting to be right in there with us. My daughter too has decided she likes to cook now and calls. Mom I did this wrong, how do I fix it or what can I do with this pork loin? Lol.

Its incredibly invasive here in michigan (us) too. It also make the ground inhospitable to other plants(rather like walnut trees do) so it really takes a lot to get rid of it. I personally don't care for the flavor but im a supertaster and certain greens/herbs always taste off to me(yes I'm looking at you cilantro and arugula 😉🤣) my hubby says its okay to him. The chickens don't care much for it either. So it gets pulled and hot composted. And I found weed whipping the blooms off as many times as you can helps the spread of it. Lucky for me the field behind me is owned by a freind and he allows me to to that so it stops spreading into my yard.

This! It’s so hard to change thinking on stuff like this, so don’t feel bad if it’s taking time. It’s the same with sustainable clothes I always feel robbed when I buy an ethical jumper for £40 but have to remind myself it’s the actual price of clothing when we aren’t harming others. It takes time to change that thinking but you’ll get there ❤️

I find that a bit of an issue with quite a few videos like this. Because Sorted is in London, the prices are often a lot higher than I would expect to pay being from a region where the cost of living is lower. A lot of times, they say a price is reasonable when it's much higher than I would be willing to pay.

Amen to that! That was exactly my reaction! And cooking with your kids, giving them kitchen tips, helping them enjoy making food is part of a healthy lifestyle all by itself. Also, every single thing we eat does not have to be healthy.

There are some good cookbooks that are designed for kids, easy to measure and usually foolproof recipes.

There is no way I'd put my kids on the internet. I'm more than happy if they decide to not do that.

I got the feeling it was sort of a taster thing to get you to go on one of their foraging courses!? I do wonder what they'll be sending to folk in the lean winter months though. I've been foraging for decades & it can be hard to find things at certain times & places. They must either be covering huge amounts of ground to forage enough wild stuff to post out or they're growing some things themselves.

Sure, but not everyone has the means or ability to do that.

You have a point, but also people probably don't forage because they don't inherently know what is poisonous or what you can work into your meals and in what way. I think they had a good idea here by introducing people to certain plants, what you can use them for and then giving a guide on where you can find them.

As someone who has spent a lot of time in Japan(living there), I don't think there were a lot of fishy snacks. Like with Senbei(and they have full aisles in grocery stores dedicated to Senbei) you'll find your Ebi(shimp) or Ika(squid) flavor and such but most are plain or soy sauce flavored. Then you also may find frosted and wasabi flavors(my favorites). Millions of flavored potato chips/crisps in all imaginable flavors. You must of been unlucky or that was their theme for the month. My favorite things usually came from randomly picking something from the unknown from Dagashi aisle and not know what it is.

@@TheBaldr we’ll probably, most of the flavors were not directly fishy. More seaweed and just tasted fishy. I think it was the more savory snacks actually. At the end of the box I realized Japan flavors don’t really suit me.

@@geomeopeoleo1740 You may be interested to know that the reason fish tastes fishy is because - fish eat algae! or a smaller creature, lower down the food chain, eats algae. eg You can buy vegan Omega 3 oil, made from algae - tastes of fish! it's weird for us, but maybe less so if you are used to eating seaweed.

@@helenswan705 I love most seaweeds and have 2 or 3 in the house at all times and I bet thats what the op is tasting too. My hubby thinks some seaweed tastes like fish. I told him the same. Fish eat seaweeds and so fish taste like seaweeds lol. I have it on my wish list but haven't pulled the trigger the sea grapes seaweed. Like little pearls of ocean. But the cost is really above my budget.

And if you're not really, really careful, those foraged things can end up introducing invasive species. Garlic Mustard is a HUGE problem outside of its native environment, for instance.

I agree. Also, on one seems to be concerned about the waste from the individual packaging, the CO2 footprint of some of these boxes being shipped around the globe, the little cooks not learning about sustainability.

Interesting point, hadn't thought of that. Around here I know of people who go to a nearby nature reservation park and pick as much as they can from this and that although it is forbidden in those places. From disregard or poor knowledge I don't know but something like that forage box could increase that type of behavior.

Yeah, this is what I thought watching. I would have much preferred a rare ingredient box or something which sourced from small farms growing things that aren't typically commercially available. I know we have some farms in our area that grow things that you would typically have to forage for or grow yourself and they make them available at the local farmers markets. That's great for us here but not great for people in an area where that isn't happening. A box that included these kinds of things could encourage farms to actually grow plants meant for the area they produce on. Sad hypothetical box could include info about how you could go foraging for it if you were inclined along with contact info for buying directly from the farm. Support the farm and maybe encourage people to look into foraging or at least maybe get curious as to what might be local to where they live if they are willing to try something they haven't heard of before.
