I know you said it would be cool if people sent you some homes with unique architecture to review but it would be awesome if you did a video of more boring homes that people have fixed up very uniquely. Creating character in builder grade suburbia is hard!

oh my goodness thank you for reviewing our home, it is so helpful!! The big fabric hanging is for aerial silks which takes up lots of space but it gets used all the time and you can pull it up out of the way for a workout space or swap it out for a hammock chair. Curtains & blinds are on the way as we speak and we will look at some bigger rugs and more art/ mirrors. I have a love hate relationship with the couch but I know you are right it might be time to go. If you want to visit Canada, just say the word and you've got a tour guide and a place to stay on Vancouver island

For the lady in the renovated hospital room -- which I love -- I'd put the IKEA table on the other side, the big chair you mentioned and the little other dresser you liked on the opposite wall where the table is now. There is very much the feeling of a corridor leading down to that big blank wall, which needs something -- tall bookcases and the mirror between maybe. ETA: Those amazing pieces of artwork hung on the back wall would be stunning. Leave a space for the mirror if it's not something that's out all the time. Or frame the mirror with those and some low bookcases/shelves to store workout stuff. Everything is lined up against the walls and nothing really makes you walk in anything but a straight line. By pulling something big - the IKEA table - to the other side, it breaks up that big long corridor into something sinuous and exciting, with the end as sort of a hidden -- albeit in plain sight -- destination rather than a long straight runway kind of thing. As long as there's a plug in for the Budapest lamp, we're golden, IMO. Another way of thinking of it is it's side heavy toward the couch side. The visual weight of everything is the same, which can make it look lopsided and jarring.

I would love to submit my mom's house, but she would be mortified! She and my dad bought a house on a lake in WA that was built by some artists who made their own tiles, and really infused a lot of creativity into the house. They left behind a ton of pottery and art (I have a lot of the art) and everything is truly midcentury.

Can I just say, while I agree with most of what you say in your videos but not everything has to be vintage. As long as it represents who they are I don't see the need for art to be vintage, it could be local artists, it could be anything that speaks to the owners...

I loved the loft But i can't get over the fact that if she ever decided to cook the clothes and the sleeping area would smell like food for the next decade I'd prefer if she made the workout/dancing area the "kitchen" Separated it with the table Made the "kitchen" an office space or a cozy tv corner

I loveeee the second apartment! I feel like she took inspiration from trends, but used them all in really unique and intentional way so it doesn't feel so "trendy." The kind of style that will always be a product of this time, but instead of cringing at it in 20 years, we will admire it :)

I covet that couch in the ochre velvet bc you can get it a bit shorter (perfect for an NYC apartment) and it is one of very few yellow velvet couches (velvet is good for cats bc they are less likely to claw it!). I keep searching for a vintage one ... would kill for a velvet chesterfield in yellow.

Even living in a very old city, just some lucky few live in places with super unique beautiful architecture. And those are the places that are easiest to decorate, cause really, you can't do much wrong if the bones are already that good. most of us live in newer buildings from the 50s- 80s and they're mainly economical post-war squares to house as many as possible. and we gotta work with that, so I agree, that would be more interesting to see! Anybody can make an already beautiful flat look nice ;)
