This is the most incredible sounding, best build Subwoofer I have ever seen. It took a lot of saving to purchase my Bassboss setup of (2) DV12-MK3 AND (2) SSP118-MK3. But let me tell you that they are worth... Honestly cannot put into words the experience you get with this sub. It has such a worm, full, thumping sound, and no matter how low the music gets the sub never ever backs down. This single sub claims it has more output then most double 18" subwoofers at low frequencies and I believe it.

I own two DV-12's and three SSP118 subs. This system pounds like no other. I recently just took my DV-12's out for a church event in a large field. They covered the entire audience with crystal clear sound and bass like you wouldn't expect (no subs). Typically, I only run one of my subs for weddings and such. More than enough power and I get compliments all the time! The only time I ever used all three subs was at a reggae festival where we took on a full Funktion-One system. They asked us to turn the bass down so they could hear their system! :)

@DJBrianRodrigues quick question for you. How do you set your input level of the SSP118? is kinda confusing do you have it at -12db or at 0DB? My old sub is set up differently. The 0db is at 12 o'clock position
@DJBrianRodrigues
@DJBrianRodrigues 9 ай бұрын
So I always run my subwoofers at 0 db to limit distortion. The knob on the bassboss subwoofers are not gain knobs and are input sensitivity knobs. So wether you run them at 10% or 100% it makes no difference. It’s about how much volume you need. Just make sure your signal coming into them is clean and not clipping. Hope this helps.

If you want to do cardiod mode, how do you place them? What are your thoughts on the VS21?
@DJBrianRodrigues
@DJBrianRodrigues 9 ай бұрын
This is from the manual. To achieve cardioid operation, you need at least one subwoofer facing the audience and one cabinet in cardioid mode placed facing away from the audience. Ideally, you should have two cabinets facing the audience and one facing away from the audience. The cabinets facing the audience should have the same preset loaded in them. The cabinet facing away from the audience should be set to the Cardioid preset - Preset 8. The Cardioid Mode cabinet should be placed between the audience-facing cabinets for cancellation directly behind the array. The main subwoofer cabinets face the audience and use one of the first 7 presets, while the cardioid cabinet faces away from the audience with Preset 8 selected. When two cabinets are facing forward and one is facing backward in cardioid mode, set the input levels the same for all cabinets, with the same signal going to all. When one cabinet is facing forward and one is facing backward in cardioid mode, set the cardioid cabinet’s level 6dB lower than the forward-facing cabinet, with both cabinets receiving the same signal. If there’s only one cabinet facing forward and another one facing backward in cardioid mode, you can place the cardioid cabinet on top of the forward-facing cabinet. If you place the cardioid cabinet next to the forward-facing cabinet, position the forward-facing cabinets further away from the stage or the area where you want to reduce sound levels. The most significant sound reduction happens along an imaginary line drawn from the center of the forward-facing cabinet’s woofer back through the center of the cardioid cabinet’s woofer. Also I have not heard the VS21 but everyone I know who had it says it’s the best of the best. So deep so loud and still portable. My friend who does sound installation preferes it to the double 18 bassboss subs.

@@DJBrianRodrigues many thanks for your reply however I have been unable to personally hear any bass boss subwoofers in a normal party setting where in I can see the true power of their products. Usually, if you go to a music store to demo them, the music store can never increase the volume to the way you would love to hear it in order to determine whether it is worth it to make such a purchase because you have to understand that their products are on the very expensive side. And if you're going to be spending that kind of money, you need to be sure that the product you are buying is what the price that you're paying for it.

They smoke the 9004-AS 100% at +/- 3db. Bass Boss BB15, DJ18S and SSP118 have the flattest curve I've seen in my 20yrs of Djing (better than even RCF). The SSP118 does slightly better the more it's pushed due to a better driver vs DJ18S which is also dope.

Simply because of the higher SPL and a cabinet with more bracing and punch. The DJ18 hits lower frequency’s but isn’t as loud.
@coreyfreeman6226
@coreyfreeman6226 8 ай бұрын
I think depends on your needs and room size. DJ18S-MK3 is perfect for a one man DJ crew and will do 127db continuous which is excellent in it's self vs the average sub. while the SSP does 130db continuous on average. weight is a big factor too, 110lbs VS 125lbs for the SSP. however the SSP is smaller in size so if you can manage the 125lbs +$500 extra. it's the best deal. The biggest factor many should consider though is at 35hz the SSP is about 2db louder. At 40hz its 5db louder and falls off from there by 1db all the way to 0.5db louder than the DJ18 at 80hz. So SSP118 is a way better deal for just $500 more.

It's only 133db. I don't think it shakes the earth. Check dB Technologies S118R single sub with 3200w and 139db.
@DJBrianRodrigues
@DJBrianRodrigues 7 ай бұрын
So I can see your not familiar with speakers by what you just said. That DB S118R is 3200watts peak 1600 Rms. Bassboss is 2500 watts rms. For every octave you go down in music you need a doubling in power to be able to achieve the same spl. Bassboss measures their speakers at realistic frequency’s. And the max measured SPL for this speakers is 136 db but at subwoofer like frequency’s. That db technology subwoofer you just mentioned does 32hz at -10db which is actually a funny way of measuring speakers. I bet you it makes 139 spl at 120hz. How do you know at what frequency the spl was measured? I can almost guarantee you the bassboss will smoke that subwoofer. Bassboss measures their sub at subwoofer range 30hz. Which is that bass you feel in your gut. But if your local and have this “db technology sub” I’d be willing to do a shoot out.

@@DJBrianRodrigues currently there is no speaker on the market that can handle 2500 watts rms. especially noz when placed in such a small cabinet. not even l'acoustics or any other high end manufacturer has a speaker that handles such high watts. its pretty obvious that bassboss is giving wrong specs about their product. i would say you should do some research on speaker cabinet design and measurements. also you should do some researsch on class d amplification and how much power really comes out of a class d amplifier and for how long it can provide that power.
@DavidLee-BASSBOSS
@DavidLee-BASSBOSS 11 ай бұрын
@@xkurtknox Your concerns are noted and it seems you want to ensure that people are not mislead by inaccurate information. People should appreciate that! In order for everyone to understand better, maybe it would be helpful to provide a little more perspective on the specifications and the difference between amplifier power output ratings and woofer power handling ratings. Amplifiers are rated in Watts but they are actually Voltage amplifiers. The Watts are calculated based upon the voltage through a given impedance. 100 Volts into 4 Ohms results in 2500 Watts consumed. The point is, the amplifier is rated based upon what it CAN do, not based upon what it will be doing all the time. The amplifier CAN deliver 100 Volts into 4 Ohms continuously. That is the point of the rating. The load that a loudspeaker presents to an amplifier varies with frequency, and at most frequencies the impedance is well above the nominal impedance. Therefor even if the amp is delivering 100V, it isn't necessarily delivering 2500 Watts when the load impedance is higher than 4 Ohms. A 4-Ohm nominal woofer may present a load that varies between 3.5 Ohms and 50 Ohms through its operating range. 100V into 50 Ohms results in only 200 Watts. Woofers are rated differently from amplifiers. Woofer power handling ratings are given as indications of how much amplification is appropriate to use to power them. Here is an example of a woofer that has a power-handling rating of 3400 Watts: www.bcspeakers.com/en/products/lf-driver/18-0/4/18ds115-4 A woofer's power handling characteristics are specified for operation over a range of frequencies, typically from their resonance frequency to 10x their resonance frequency. At certain frequencies, the woofer would suffer a thermal failure after a few moments of 100 Volts input. At other frequencies, the woofer would reach maximum excursion at 100 Volts of input. Even a woofer with a 3400 Watt power handling rating could be destroyed by a 100V input at certain frequencies. But that doesn't mean that the woofer should only be powered by an amplifier that has insufficient power to cause it damage as that would waste a great deal of output capacity. Bottom line, yes, an amplifier capable of 2500 Watts of continuous output could destroy a woofer rated for 3400 Watts of input power handling if the system were poorly designed or poorly controlled. On the other hand, an amplifier capable of 2500 Watts of continuous output could be used very reliably and very effectively in conjunction with a woofer rated to handle 3400 Watts of input power. When the system is designed as a package, with the appropriate crossover filters and limiters included in the processing, having what amounts to 2500 Watts, specifically 100 Volts, of available power allows the system to deliver as much output as possible while the built-in processing protects the woofer from damage that could occur if too much power were applied for too long at frequencies at which the woofer would be susceptible to thermal or excursion damage. Thanks!
