I load my Bug-A-Salt with salt and pepper....it makes seasoning meat on the BBQ extra disturbing in front of my vegetarian friends.

Got my 3.5 today - love it. The laser is calibrated from the factory at 27”. So if your barrel is only a foot away from your target, you’ll want the dot below the target a little bit. Accurate & patterned nicely on an aluminum foil test. Using a Limb Saver shotgun recoil pad due to the horrific recoil… 🙄🤣

The bug a salt is incredible. It’s by far the best thing to have to kill nuisance insects around the bbq, dinner table, pool. It works well with standard table salt, coarse ground kosher salt, and a mixture of both. The only thing I want is a napkin dispenser for body disposal.

The advantage of using table salt is that it will help with any iodine deficiency that fly might have.

I have the 3.0 and love it. It is all plastic but very solid and well made. It is accurate and kills most bugs (except wasps) in one shot. I definitely recommend.

I have the last 3 made... couldn't imagine summertime without them! Sooo much fun at the BBQ!!!

ive been running kosher salt in my 3.0 for a few years and it's been working just fine

Wild fact: Children’s toy companies test toys with projectile launchers with aluminum foil. If it pierces a certain thickness it can pull out an eye. Before that they had large enclosures filled with bunnies for actual eye tests. Gruesome.

I bought a cheap barrel mounted laser for my 3.0. My kid uses it cause the old man is dead eye with the iron sights. Cool to see they updated it.

The co2 version also shoots 0.5" pepper balls and rubber balls if I remember correctly. It is cross compatible with the Umarex T4E TR50 I think.

I got one of the first bug o salts for Father’s Day and it still works great I love it I might get the 3.5 I love the way it kills bugs but if close mine will blow the legs off the fly

I just found your channel. Great review on the Bug a salt. I bought one for my brother in law about 5 years ago, he has had a nlast with it. I was thinking about getting myself one to use in the garden. I subscribed to your page because I too have had 4 closed head injuries. I am now retired and disabled.

With the amount of flies i get in my truck after deliveries to dog food plants this will be perfect for my truck.

Got a Bug Hunter Salt Shotgun from Walmart a couple years ago and it shoots great and not so hard to rack the slide like this one seems to be. To big and clunky.

I have the 3.0 and got the adjustable laser sights separate. I’ve always had trouble clocking it ( I’m disabled) so the newer version would be helpful with the grip .

I emailed company before ordering. They said main diff is the upgrades like stock, sling, and built in laser. Any differences from spread/power is probably due to updated manufacturing equipment. I ended up ordering 2x3.0 and lasers bc I like the ergonomics better.

The pistol brace might be made illegal in Blue states along with the pistol style verticle fore grip.

I have used coarse sea salt and coarse kosher salt in my 3.0 for 3 years without any issues. It's more powerful than regular table salt. Will actually penetrate the aluminum foil where regular table salt just dents it

My 3.0 came with a laser sight but I like the foreword grip on the 3.5

Kosher, Rock and Sea salt should all be fine if they are fine ground enough as they are basically Table Salt without the Anti Caking agent or any preservitives added, basically if its fine enough to go in a shaker it'll be fine enough for the Gun and wont do any harm to its guts as its just a purer form of its normal ammo.

I've has two of the older modle , the problem is they are made from cheep plastic and break and with the price of these and no replacement parts I find a rolled up tea towel works wonders .

I use kosher salt. That was actually the recommended ammo in the original one I got when it first came out. Still works great.

Try using kosher / corse salt not rock salt but the kind that is in grains about 3-4 times a regular grain of salt and it will kill bugs with harder exoskeleton.

I had the original model years ago and enjoyed it...only issue I had was that the plastic cover of the loading port broke off when the hinge pin (which was made of steel) corroded. I attempted to jury-rig something to retain the cover but my efforts were never satisfactory. I was hopeful that the manufacturer would address this potential failure point on subsequent models.

I absolutely LOVE these products, I have both the 2.5 and 3.0 and now that I've watched your video am also both EXTREMELY envious and MUST get the new upgraded version!!! In my opinion the 2.5 has a more sturdy look and shoots more like a shotgun. The 3.0 is slimmer and lighter than the 2.5 and shoots more like a rifle (and this is just my personal opinion) but I don't like the design as much compared to the 2.5 even though the shots are more condensed/compact because it looks like a grease gun and the 2.5 looks like something from Starship Troopers! P.S: your drawing is ABSOLUTELY spot on to a fly, I hope you and Lynne are doing well, and thanks to you I now know that there's an upgraded version and I MUST HAVE IT lol. I also have a Bug A Salt from a few years ago. I quickly learned it's good for flies but it's not powerful enough to kill yellow jackets it just pisses them off!

id like to see a full size gas version with a salt hopper instead of the proprietary revolver cylinder. they could even take from airsoft designs and make it run on green gas. which is essentially propane.

These are great for large spiders under beds or in open rafter ceilings where a shoe wont fit. I dont kill most of them, just the nasty ones

Kool, I was in the hardware store the other day picking up some supplies and saw the 3.5. I thought about getting one but figured it would be short lived, disappointing, and a waste of money. Watching your video has spurred me to pick one up the next time I head up to the hardware store.

Yes the wasp! Usually won't kill them but damages the wings and they don't fly so well. I wouldn't shoot it at a nest full of yellow jackets.

I’ve tried them all, the only bug killer worth while is the electric racquet zapper. Works every time !

If you live in a really humid environment you need to be carefull with it clogging up with the 3.0. Don't store it full. There is a reason some restaurants put rice in the salt shakers. It acts as a natural desiccant. I would not suggest doing this with the salt gun though. Just keep it dry. Store it in a dry spot. When it clogs do your best to clear it.

I have the original bugasalt, I have yet to kill a fly with it, aim shoot and they fly away, could be I'm using Kosher salt?

Wondering if it will work against birds. I have blue jays who use my back yard to bury nuts and then I later have to pull the new "trees" up. I also have large numbers of geese who like to graze on my grass and then leave mountains of poop all over everything. These instruments don't seem to have much range though, so probably not effective for birds.

I just put salt in an old crosman 760. Works way better and can kill flys from about 6-7 feet away easily
