Saw this kit in Squadron's catalog (the reborn company), and it interested me because of being a modern ship in a nice scale. I have built the 1/200 USS Hornet CV-8, took 8 months. I did throw a MK1 Designs detail set and North Star figures at it as well. This looks as if it has enough PE to detail it already. I may have to get this kit, will watch your other vids as you proceeded with great interest.

I too had much interest in this kit being a modern era warship in 1/200. I haven't had experience with MK 1 aftermarket but have used Pontos a bit. The PE in this kit for the most part, isn't bad; some of it is downright garbage and some of it is quite good as well. Personally, I've had a blast putting this ship together to this point. Thank you for watching!

@@PatricksScaleStudio-76 HS Models is coming out with a detail set for this ship ...twice as much money as the kit itself! Insane! 😜
@PatricksScaleStudio-763 ай бұрын
@@ladyknieval , I saw that one too. From Squadron.com it's still almost $500. I'm just building from the kit as best I can though. The detail contained in the kit itself is fairly good and presents enough of a challenge on its own, in my opinion.

I will definitely keep up with your progress . I just received the kit in the mail last week

Carrier in the back ground artwork is a Ford class nuclear carrier...you can tell by the fact that the island is farther back then Nimitz class. Thanks for the review, I am building this one for a Navy recruiter office.

Hi Patrick, Great video. Good Luck with your channel. KZfaq is a lot of fun. I've been making content for a couple of years. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day. Jeff

Hi Jeff! I appreciate you dropping by. I've watched a bit of your content and you really put forth some great work. I'm finding that I'm really enjoying putting together these videos; definitely still learning though. I hadn't really thought of KZfaq as such an amazing resource until a couple of years ago. You know... when some of us were learning to put together the old Revell and Monogram, we were self-teaching, lol. Thanks for watching and I hope you have a great day as well.

Appreciate the review. Planning on buying this kit to add to my stash. Was looking at the 350 scale versions and did not realize there was one in 200 scale.

I bought the 1:350 scale DDG-51 from trumpeter and it was very nice. It's a good size, and a fun build.

@@DoomSlayer65 , what are the rough measurements of the finished model? I have some 1/350 kits in my stash and they will need proper escorts.
@DoomSlayer653 ай бұрын
@PatricksScaleStudio-76 it's about 17.5 inches long, 2.5 inches wide, and roughly 6 inches tall from baseline to top of the mast.

Are there 1/200 decal sheets for the other Flight I names hull numbers?
@PatricksScaleStudio-764 күн бұрын
Hi there! Unfortunately, there are not additional hull numbers to model other ships in Flight I. In fact, the decals with this kit are kind of a detractor. The large white and red markings that go on the deck are difficult to work with and other decals are nested within them. Additionally, many markings such as warning placards and signage around the ship is completely missing. That said, the kit overall was a lot of fun and produced, in my opinion, an excellent display model. Thank you for watching!

Just got this kit today, rather disappointed to find that the bridge windows are moulded solid...
@PatricksScaleStudio-765 ай бұрын
I appreciate your comment; I too was disappointed to see that with a new tool kit like this. I feel that even making the bridge in transparent styrene could have made for a modest attempt at windows. There is a lot of plastic though and the kit offers a decent challenge. I'll be addressing in detail what I'm doing about the windows in an upcoming episode. Thanks for watching!

@jdmodels1968, I'll have to dig in and see what might be out there. I had completely glossed over there being something homegrown versus the regular aftermarket stuff. Thanks for pointing me in that direction!

Sure doesn't look like it's 1/200 scale.looks like 1/350.
@PatricksScaleStudio-766 ай бұрын
With warship modeling being largely dominated by capital ships, I can see that. Next to my just-begun 1/200 HMS Nelson, USS Curtis Wilbur could be a 1/350 capital ship. Thanks for watching!

I got mine somewhere in the middle of the two price ends as a preorder. I'm glad to not have had to pay $200 but would still at this point. I have really enjoyed working with this kit; that's just my opinion though.
