After posting the video of Unboxing the VAX Platinum Power Max carpet cleaner it was only fair to give you a demonstration and full review of how I got on using the carpet cleaner. In this video, I go onto explain how to set up the machine and get it running. I talk through the basic functionalities and what all the buttons/switches do.
I show you how I got on with cleaning the carpets at home, getting out stains and first thoughts. You get to see the dirt and grime that has collected on our carpets over the years. I also give you my pros and cons of this carpet cleaner.

Oh wow! I have gone through a ton of KZfaq reviews and instructions on how to use the vax platinum carpet cleaner and they all confused me! 😅Untill I got to yours! And you simplified it and made it so easy to understand! From how much solution you put in! To using that trigger button at the top which I had no idea! HI, I have had my vax same model now for around a year and have had a few issues with it , it does tend to clog up badly which means removing all the bottom plate with a screwdriver to get at the inside to clean, also my round brushes dont seem to go round all the time. Besides that I found your video very informative so thank you

Great review and best on KZfaq. Explained everything I needed to know and I agree with the negative aspects of the machine. It’s very heavy to push, the cable should come from the top rather than the bottom and is a real nuisance. Same experience on hard floors so I use the free steamer that came with it. Cleans well enough and cheaper in the long run than hiring or getting someone in. Just wish it wasn’t so heavy to use and carry up and down stairs.

Glad you enjoyed my video and are on the same page as me on the VAX carpet cleaner. I ended up getting the Bissell Crosswave (cordless) which I use on my hard floors instead. I have yet to do a review on this but have posted an unboxing (very short) video.

Excellent and very comprehensive review on the Cleaner. IMy wife wants to buy one and just slightly worried about getting it up and down the stairs bearing in mind we ( well I ) are/am getting on a bit. Still, it seems to do the job and presume the mixing of the water and the cleaning agent is done automatically by some sort of metering system. Well done young lady , however will probably pass on the mothering features. ATB, Frank.

Glad you found the review useful. I have used this carpet cleaner more often than I'd like, due to the baby being sick on several occasions. But I've really found it easy to take out and fill up. Yes, the cleaning solution and water mixes itself so its something that I don't need to worry about, putting in too much solution or too little.

No not yet. I am considering whether to get a hard floor cleaner with the brush rolls instead. I have quite a lot of tiled rooms/areas and think something like a VAX ONEPWR Glide 2 or a Bissell CrossWave. I'm still deciding.

I wouldn't necessarily say the carpet is softer as such. It would leave it in the say condition as it was before cleaning it.

Great bit of kit, only downside is the cleaning of the brushes. Cleaning some carpets for first time can create alot of wet fluff that sticks to the inside of the brush head. can be a bit fiddley to dismantle the roller.

Yes, I agree with you on this point. I haven't yet dismantled the brush head to thoroughly clean it. I'm a bit worried of not being able to put it back together again. But it's on my list of things to do.....

Did you have to rinse after shampooing?or can you just leave it to dry? I'm going to try mine today, now I seem your demonstration I'm pretty confident I know what to do thank you :)

No need. I just left the carpet to dry and it's been totally fine. Smells good too!!

I find that if you clip the mains cable coming out of the back of the machine into the clip at the back of the handle near the top it stops it getting caught underneath

I haven't cleaned the brushes yet. But will need to soon as they are getting a bit grubby. That's a great suggestion for another video. Thanks!!!

Did you have trouble fitting the lid properly on to the dirty water tank? I've got gaps at the top of the channels where the water is sucked up in to the tank, and no dirty water being collected. As far as I can tell, the lid doesn't fit properly, so I've presumably lost suction.

No I've not had any issues with mine. Have you tried contacting VAX and seeing if they can help you or send out an extra part (in this case the dirty water tank lid) for you?

@@ritasstories9049 Thanks for replying, Rita. I looked on the VAX website, and replacement waste tanks with the lid are £15. We'd had the whole machine boxed and unused for a year before we finally got around to using it. It should've really gone back to the shop just after I bought it. Just need to buy a replacement tank from VAX.

Are you referring to the hand held cleaning tool for upholstery? I'm not sure if it would work on other VAX machines. You would need to get in touch with VAX customer services to be sure it has the correct connection to your specific machine.

How to u change the brushes?? I cant remove the spin brush to put the other one, so hard

Do you mean changing the brushes of the spot cleaner from the hose connection? I've always found this a bit tricky as the clear plastic catch is so hard. Previously, I pulled too hard and snapped the catch off. But I called customer services and they sent out a replacement straight away. The replacement I received is a better design with a button release rather than the original hard clear plastic catch.

I have the same, is not so noisy. I had before wax platinum smart wash is way more to loud, this is not. Cable is not problem, you can just put back around like you said, so is better long than short. About weight of machine is better if you go to upstairs just empty and you can bring upstairs separately and put again together. But if you want that machine work, give some results I think need to be a little heavy

How do you open the tank with the dirty water?

To take the dirty water tank out, there is a grey button on the front of the tank that you squeeze down and pull it towards you. Once the tank is free from the upright carpet cleaner on the back of the tank there is another grey catch you need to lift up and it will unlock the lid of the dirty water tank. I hope that helps!!!

I would double check that everything is correctly slotted in and in place. If it's still not working then I would try contacting VAX customer services.

Arrrrh. I've never had this issue. It might be that the connection between the machine and the tank is loose or the seal has broken. Have you tried contacting the customer services? It's definitely worth a try and they are pretty helpful with any troubleshooting.

To help aid the drying process you can keeping running the cleaner over the carpet but not use the trigger button. This will mean that it will continue to pull the moisture out of the carpet.

Take both containers off whilst carrying the machine give more to grip on and much less weight.

Sorry, are you asking me about the VAX carpet cleaning solution? If so, this is the one that I used, it's the "VAX Platinum Solution". You can purchase this directly off the VAX website, I received mine with the VAX Platinum Power MAX carpet cleaner. Or you can get this from Amazon amzn.to/3TtubBK. I hope this helps.

The dry function is just pushing the cleaner away from you and pulling toward you without using the trigger button. The trigger button releases the water and cleaning solution. So this will make your carpet wetter if you used this.

Thank you excellent demonstration and would love to see others you have done. We have owned a VAX carpet cleaner for many years but have never really worked out how to use it and not leave carpets wetter than should be and at least I can see how it should work - machine is much too bulky for our small house and I wouldn't recommend if storage space is limited.

You need a lot more than one cap of cleaning solution it drinks it very fast

I've found that the recommendation has worked for us. Make sure you only use the trigger button (to release the solution) in the forward motion as pulling the machine back with the trigger off is supposed to suck the dirty water back up. This should reduce the amount of solution used, if you're not doing this already.

Mine has been fine for all the times I've used it. Have you tried contacting the VAX customer services? They have been really helpful with me when I've run into issues or had any questions.
