I’m not gonna lie when I got to the part where you were saying you’re not sure about reading older work because the prose might not be good I had to stop chopping my cauliflower because the prose in LH is DIVIIIINE LOL!! It's great that you're already on the same wavelength on your beta readers and agents re: revisions! That shows you've got a cohesive vision and that you've got a strong, self-aware editing mindset. It does sound like it'll be a hefty revision project, but I'm confident it's gonna come out stronger for it. And happy birthday again! I like your idea of using it as an opportunity to celebrate your relationships as much as your own existence, that's both sweet and a nice way to look at it :)

Happy birthday! It's funny because when I read, I love reading about the characters but when I write, I'm a very plot-driven person. My book has really taught me to enjoy writing the character development and it's honestly something I'm so proud of now. I love your videos!

Yay! This is so exciting! I would love a video about how you feel about Scrivener, why you started using it, its best features for you, etc. It's always seemed like an intimidating way to write for me and I'd love to hear your thoughts on it!

Forcing oneself is a matter of circumstance. Short fiction should take less of your time apiece, so if you're unmotivated , it's a sign to put more of your eggs in the novel basket. As for sequelizing a book that hasn't been sold, my suggestion is that you prep 20-50 pages of material, then let it sit as a draft-zero opening section which you can return to when the first book is sold. Love your thoughtfulness on culture. Happy belated birthday.

Happy Belated Birthday! I love the way you talk through your revisions and I’m glad your vision lines up with your beta readers and agent. Even though you now have an agent, it really just shows how we are never truly done writing/revising and it takes so much to get to the heart of the story. FLOATING HOUSE and your new WIP idea set in the same universe as LOCAL HEAVENS sounds SO good honestly! Such a mood to want to work on other projects while working on your current one! Filipino-American sci-fi literary writer here. It's a lot of pressure trying to visualize what the future for Filipinos is, while also trying to give voice to the fact we're not "real" Americans now, model minority myth, and all the internalized colonialism. Thanks for mentioning "I just wanna tell a story." And thanks for sharing.
