Revisited: Breakin’ broom scene with Michael “Turbo” Boogaloo Shrimp Chambers!

Many people have visited 4323 Melrose Avenue in the past to see where Turbo did his iconic Broom Sequence. Michael has done some interviews in that exact spot (which is now a tattoo parlor). But Michael was blown away when for one night only, we turned back the clock and redressed the tattoo parlor to look just like it did in Breakin’! The air that night (May 2018) was electric. It was magical. Michael had recently had surgery on his knee and foot, so he was limited in what he could do that night, but through sheer will power, he was able to work through the pain to make this happen. We jumped in at the end, and a lifelong dream was fulfilled. To not only breakdance with Boogaloo Shrimp, but to do it in the exact spot he had layed down legendary moves, and also to have it dressed to look the same as it did in 1984, I’ll never forget it. Enjoy!

They should have made a split screen of Turbo dancing side by side with his younger self, that would have been even more epic, I'm 56 years old and I miss everybody that was in that movie, My Time My Memories, The 80's Forever !!! 😢❤

Hey Michael, I was working security and talked to you back around 1985 when you went to that party at the El Cortez in downtown San Diego; I think it was a wedding reception. I had never seen Breakin' then, but I could tell your moves were so slick, but you were not showing off at all; I asked if you were a dancer. You were so humble. You said, "No, I drive a truck now." hehe But then told me you were in Breakin'. You made a great impression that night. Thanks for the memory.

It is still magical. This took me back and I am so glad that he is still able and willing to share his talents with the world. His dancing and that movie alone was so influential to modern dance. It is safe to say he is an icon and will live immortal in film and music. I mean, I knew exactly who Redman was referencing when he said, "Dudes be breaking like Turbo and Ozone" in the song "Da Rotweiller". That is proof of the iconography of this man's work.

Turbo hasn't lost a single step, he still moves just as sharp as the time he first did that iconic scene! This is the man who trained Michael Jackson, keep that in mind as we also remember Ozone, two legends, one the king of pop, the other Turbo's co- founding father of the breakin revolution! It's too bad both Ozone and Jackson can't physically be here for the upcoming Breakin reunion, but when the Miracles dancers get loose again, Ozone and Michael Jacksons spirit will be there, can't wait to see it, see you all there!

@@KendrickAndKingPushBodyAubrey That's because the people in Hollywood had no idea what bboying was, hence why they created the term Breakdancing, they clearly think popping and locking is bboying and it really isn't, as you clearly seem to know they are totally different things, many are not aware of that or care, Turbo, Pop n Taco and Shabba Doo are not bboys they are basically poppers and lockers with minimal breakin.

I wasn’t even into the whole break dance thing back in the day,,, but when I first saw this it blew my mind completely!! 🤯 The dance flows so well with the music and even hearing ‘tour de France’ nowadays brings me back to the moment.. Timeless, and priceless

I must have watched the original several hundred times. My bro and I would watch these every day after school for years in the 80s. Good to see Boogaloo Shrimp still got that signature pop and flow. If you watch him in the original scene he really has a beautiful flow and vibe, very much his style. Love that it still continues today.

For a moment there, I thought that Bugaloo Shrimp was going recreate his whole broom dance routine that did back in 1984 from the movie Breakin' at the end.
