magic may not be getting graded because people are actually playing with the cards. I feel like all the tcgs I played and collected magic was the ones where the chase cards aren’t just pretty. They are chase cards because of the playability.

Don't forget... yeah Sword and Shield had the unprecedented hype because of Covid but XY had the Pokemon Go hype. I got back into collecting and investing during Pokemon Go and lots of other people did as well. I think huge poketubers like Unlisted leaf were getting enormous around that time as well and XY was all the rage. I went heavy into Flashfire because of Pokemon Go and that worked out very well.
