I have to admit the stinger smg on release, tactical smg in chap 1, and p90 on release have to be some of the best smgs the game has ever seen

Stinger definitely deserves to be on this list. Ever since reload released, it's been such a reliable weapon for me. It's insanely accurate, (which I value in SMGs) and is capable of lasering people from a variety of ranges. I often substitute my AR for a stinger.

3:13 I remember when the community voted for the Combat AR over the Combat SMG, Fresh posted a video about it, and in it, he mentioned about how broken the combat smg would be, considering how fast the AR fired. As it turned out, the combat was the most broken smg we'd seen possibly ever.

My favorite SMG in the games history is the chapter 1 Tactical SMG. In its hayday, it was a nearly flawless weapon. The fire rate was stupid, the damage was actually decent, its ammo was above average, its bloom was actually quite good especially by Chapter 1 standards, its range wasn't even that bad, and given that once the combat shotty was gone the blue pump became a good amount of people's shotgun that just made it fit in right at home in the meta. Obviously it got destroyed later but it could've been mentioned at the end

Compacty boi best smg To clarify im talking about the P90. It might not be the best but its just one of the coolest firearm designs in general, ahoy's short documentary is a great analysis of the weapon and its history ALSO: The P90 is one of the few guns which i believe has two different variations: the Purple/Gold SMG variants, and as the 'Compact SMG' which is it's release version.

Thuder burst smg is on my top 5 best smg in fortnite

Thunder Burst: In terms of DPS/TTK for a burst weapon it’s on the weaker side, but because of how consistent it is and the fact that the accuracy is on the most base damage smg we’ve ever had goes to show its power, if it had worse accuracy and recoil like the other C5 smgs then it wouldnt be viable but yet it’s a rifle smg Twin-Mag: 100% other than accuracy, as you kept shooting it got real bad so you cant full spray completely but in boxes it’s basically a Combat SMG, its base damage is also +3 of what i’d put as a 13 fire rate smg so for current stats it’s #2 for me Combat SMG: consistent, has range, great headshot and even reload, basically an upgraded version of the Twin-Mag other than recoil, the Combat SMG is also +3 of what i’d put a 12 fire rate so it’s #1 on my list Rapid Fire: i agree and it’s almost the same for the Machine SMG, you need to be fairly close to not only deal good damage but be consistent, in terms of power it’s +2 over but what brings it down is its mag, 20 is too low and 26 is ok but i think 28 is perfect Submachine Gun: frankly i dont like how it’s on this list, not only do we have other smgs with greater power but also the Stinger while having balanced DPS/TTK to the Sub, it has more structure DPS/TTD and has better damage range than the Sub Bonus: Machine SMG is too hated, it does +1.5 more of what i’d have it as but like the Rapid Fire it isnt suited for range, using it up close is how you use it and it is a solid weapon

The interesting history of the Combat SMG is even more fun to think about than the weapon itself in all honesty. It was one of the two choices for a weapon at the funding board in Chapter 2 Season 8 against the Combat AR, and after losing it proceeded to then stay in the vault till its proper debut 2 seasons later.

I do feel that it was criminal not to acknowledge the tactical and compact smgs, as well as the drum gun, as those guns basically started the spray meta. Yes the drum gun is considered an assault rifle by epic, but the reason being that it uses medium ammo is stupid (Tac AR). Of course, stinger smg was also very good.

I loved the combat smg because it’s a weapon that’s easier to control recoil on controller than on pc, which is reversed for almost every other weapon in the game.

Never forgetting the games where i elim'd someone after they elim'd me because i used the Thunder Burst and won a game where I got downed but still won because my Thunder Burst finished off the last guy alive.

Combat SMG is goated. I never carried an AR in Chapter 3 when it was in the game, even with the nerf.

5:00 where did you get this information from? because the rapidfire smg was only changed once and that was a buff to its mag size in chapter 2 season 2; in chapter 2 season 3 they then added the common, epic and legendary variants and in chapter 3 season 4 the mythic

Imma tell yall one thing, the Harbinger was such a good replacement for the Hyper, not better than the Thunder, but strong enough to at least be a good match up against the Thunder, also the Hyper was such a joke of a smg

You should make a 'best weapons at their prime' or something like that for all the weapons that got nerfed really badly and used to be really good, you would have a LOT of choices from pretty much any season, even primal season since the shotgun was busted lmao

they also nerfed the headshot multiplier during chapter 3 season2 from 2x down to 1.75x which didn't really nerfed the combat smg because the stinger smg still did less damage than the comabt and the stinger does only have a headshot multiplier of 1.5x

Calling it now, combat SMG and launch drum gun. Yes, the drum gun is classified as an AR in game, but it’s an SMG in all other metrics so i’m predicting it to show up here. Edit: the nerf he brought up to the combat SMG where its damage got dropped to 17 at gray rarity sounds more like the nerf to the Stinger SMG, which it still has.

You forgot the iconic Compact SMG / P90. That thing just had an amazing magazine size, fire rate, damage and range.

The current stinger smg is better than the current normal submachine gun from season 5 i think the stinger is still powerfull just not as much as the combat smg or the thunder burst smg , also honorable mention the ACTUAL burst smg was crazy good aswell even tho u cant have attachments on it it shot a 4 bullet burst doing 26 damage and 45 in the head , that gun can do 100+ dmg in one press its insane , although it doesnt have insane range like the smgs that came out after chapter 3 also the primal was crazy but like any smg hefore ch3 it doesnt have crazy range

The Recoil on the Combat SMG doesn't really feel like it's there... granted i learned the recoil pattern but even just holding the fire button down without controlling my aim, it doesn't have much recoil. (Also the primal SMG is currently better than the Classic MP5/P90 SMG, thanks to the 35 round mag overall, something the Standard Lost during C4S2)

I have to completely disagree with this statement 2:44 that thing was broken... it was literally the only gun I'd run sometimes and perform best with, that thing literally wiped squads like crazy

I think I disagree with the thing you said about weapon mods-- in my eyes, its irrelevant that older weapons could have been better with them when the meta is by definition defined by how different weapons and mechanics work with others in the same season. I think trying to examine it in a vacuum like that can be very tricky since a lot of these guns have existed in entirely different times of the game's history, so I feel like if it was a memorable/defining weapon of that season, it should be on the list for how much you could benefit from carrying it.
