Thanks for sharing guys, I rode my bike down from London Ontario, the first two weeks of August. I was stopped there with my two brothers looking at the Kyle but never had time to put my drone up. I did get to ride the Irish Loop, the Loop around Placentia and visit many other places. I grew up in St Mary's Bay and left many years ago. Only now do I go back and explore. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

That's awesome! Glad you had a nice trip here. There’s never enough time to do and see it all. We all miss this place at times. Thanks for watching. Happy Thanksgiving 🙏

Still standing tall since February 4 1967. When she ran aground. The ship is over a hundred years old and still in great shape. Very nice video

Yes sir. She’s old but she’s still here.

Paul, you should turn her into an AIRBNB - Enjoy the Journey - Cheers

I’d say by the looks of it now you’d be better off sleeping on a raft lol. Keep well.

Last time you flew the drone there you mentioned they had put a no fly zone there, I guess that has been wiped bro. For all the years it has been parked there it has stood up to the elements really well. Must have built it back when men were men, lol. Hey awesome to see it again and hi to you both. Safe travels. Ken.

That ship actually was used for ice breaking at one point. Look in the video description for a link to more info. Yes that no fly rule changed. It’s not considered an inactive aero port. There’s one that’s a recreational small dirt runway on the other side of town and that’s off limits. In most cases these new drones will give you all kinds of warnings if your in an restricted area or won’t let you take off at all. The government are always moving the goal post when it comes to drones. Keep well Ken.

Great Video Paul. I looked up the History of the Kyle, Hmmm It would seem so simple to pull the ship out. Did they not have the technology back in 1967 ?? Thanks. Mike M.
@78633489 ай бұрын
Oh they had the technology to do it but it was the cost that was the debilitating factor. Everyone wanted the other guy to pay the cost and no one wanted to do it. Local folks stole all the valuable things off of it then the ship was sold to a recycling metal company and they took their share then it was left there to rot. Pitiful. It left a bad taste in peoples mouth that loved the old girl. Politics and money always gets in the way. Keep well bud.

It’s strange that the recycler that bought it didn’t just keep chipping away at the stone….
@78633488 ай бұрын
Jim by the time the recycling company got it the locals had all the meat stolen off the bone so the recycling company took what the locals couldn’t lug away then realized it wasn’t a cost effective job and walked away from it.

@78633489 ай бұрын
Thanks Tom. Yes it was the baby drone (DJI Mini 4 Pro) At about 3/4 through the flight the wind picked up but it handled it well. Here’s a link to the old ship. It’s has an interesting history. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours my friend. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SS_Kyle
