One of my favorite twilight moments is when bella walks downstairs in a floor length jean skirt and edward says shes beautiful and she stares at his eyes so hard SHE FAINTS down the last few steps and he has to catch her and yell at her for being clumsy and she can hardly breathe cause he called her beautiful

I relate SO HARD to this entire video hahahaha! Re-read the series about two years ago and felt like I was reading an entirely different story. I read it during my first teen relationship and I remember suddenly figuring that my ex (who was super controlling like Edward, and jealous and would threaten suicide like Jacob, and ahh) was actually just 'so in love with me' because I could see parallels! Everyone saw Twilight as Peak Romance. But yeah...even still, I don't hate it. I just can't! It's tied to so many memories!

I remember I used to ship Bella with Jasper so bad. In hindsight, I realised it's because of that scene in the first book when they're all running around figuring out what to do about James wanting to kill her and he tells her she is worth it because he knows she's feeling crap about herself. On one hand there was Edward, who was all about making decisions for her and who cares what she feels about it and then on the other you have this guy who barely knows her but still cares about her emotional well being more than her boyfriend does. He did it in Eclipse too, he sensed she was worried about Alice and took the time to reassure her. If Edward had Jasper's power, he'd likely just force her to stop feeling that way but Jasper used his words instead and I liked that.
@schnestel

On hindsight I just think it's so ridiculous (obviously I was totally in awe back then), that in Breaking Dawn literally EVERY vampire has a magical power. Make up your mind! Either you're a wizard or a vampire - You can't have all the things!!

I've been indulging more and more in the Twilight Renaissance, if that's what we're calling it, and it's been so interesting trying to figure out my relationship to this series. I read the books at 15, right before Breaking Dawn came out, and I was totally that girl who wanted an Edward of her very own. And then I jumped on the hate bandwagon after having a less-than-stellar experience with Breaking Dawn... and then many years and several real-life and educational crash-courses in feminism/women's issues later, I started to slowly realize that most of those people on that bandwagon were just venting their misogyny, and I fell for it because it sounded logical and sometimes it's satisfying to talk about why you hate things -- but I also realized that these relationships were extremely unhealthy, and the people talking about those issues had a genuine point. Now, I want to embark on a proper reread to see what the balance is, basically -- how much of it was targeted out of pure misogyny and how much really did need to be looked at with a more critical lens.

Me and one of my best friends downloaded the twilight audiobooks for a road trip and it was like the listening to the best comedy album ever. I think the thing that is so special about Twilight is was just this communal thing that we all came to the realization together really was subjectively not good on so many levels, and yet at one point so many people loved it. It gives us a chance to laugh at our past selves, while also realizing those false undertones of what we contextualized as a good relationship as a tween/teen.

I was a die hard twilighter. Me and my friends would spend days on end talking about the books and movies and have some great memories related to it but the funniest memory i have with the whole franchise is when I first got introduced to it. One of my friends in 8th grade (13) invited me to her birthday party, her mom was going to take her and all her friends to see the first movie. I hadn't even read the books or knew what it was so she let me borrow her copy to read. I wasn't much of a reader back than but I didn't want to be left out so I read it and finished it in two days. I asked another friend for New Moon and went and saw the movie with the whole group of them. About three weeks later my mom was going to take me and another friend to see it again and I invited the same friend who got me into the series and she called me a loser for liking such stuff. Needless to say I ended that friendship and went two years being obsessed with the series. Loved the video, can't wait to see what things come to the for front while rereading the books.

Thank you for an amazing experience and being a part of my life cast and author and characters alike.

I was obsessed with twilight when I was 14. I got tickets to the midnight premiere of new moon for my 15th birthday and that night was like someone dunked a bucket of ice over my head and I woke up from this weird dream. I went to the premiere with two of my friends and when Jacob takes off his t-shirt in the film, everyone in the room started squealing and clapping hysterically. My friends and I looked at each other in shock and that's when we all realised how ridiculous we'd been for the past year of our lives.

I adore this video!! Also I kinda hate that I know this, but I'm pretty sure the reason they go to high school is so they can stay in one place for as long as possible. Like, I think they do also go to college but they try and start out as 16-17 year olds and then graduate high school, go to college and so on until it becomes obvious that they aren't ageing, and then they start back from highschool again in a new place. I mean.. that is not a great reason. But I remember this being talked about (or maybe just heavily implied?) at one point.

*did you mean* when Harry inexplicably eviscerated Voldemort into whisps of dark smoke with espelliarmus? The book death was so meaningful. He falls to the ground as a dead body, emphasising that he was just a person in the end. Not some mega supernatural smoke being.
@ashleylee1706
@ashleylee1706 5 жыл бұрын
@@Polisciandfries There was that, but the set-ups to finding the horcruxes were wrong, mostly glaringly, the diadem. In the book, Harry hides the half-blood prince potion book in the vanishing cabinet in the room of requirement & uses the diadem as a marker. In the movie, Ginny hides the book & therefore Harry should never have found the diadem. He knew what all of the horcruxes were (except himself), but the movie makes it some search for random unknown objects. It was frustrating.

Oh man I just rewatched the movies and boy were they interesting. I get what you said about being sucked into the world again because I was a little bit and kind of enjoyed watching them to an extent!! But it is so hard to look past the major problems of the "romance" depicted in them and the books. I don't think I can bring myself to reread the books, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to get through them. Great video--its fun to reminisce about past obsessions :)

Omg. So I'm 27 right now and I believe I'm the same age as Lex? Anyway, I can relate SO MUCH with her experience with the books. I remember reading the first one at the beach the year before starting high school (so I would have been 14 at the time). I was leaning into the emo phase already, not really showing it in my clothing but definitely looking for "forbidden" love stories with death as an undertone. So when I read the book my mind was blown. I fell in love with Edward IMMEDIATELY and made all my friends reading it and we discussed and we cried and we wrote fan fictions. It was glorious. Around the third one we were not so sure anymore and the obsession slowly faded out (as obsessions tend to do). They're all so ashamed of ever liking it but I look back at those times and it's bittersweet. I'm not able to throw myself into a fandom like that anymore and even though I know it's a part of growing up, I miss it sometimes. Thank you for reminding me of that

My partner had never watched the films and our combined favourite moment is when her knees, and spine, and everything else all snap right as her water breaks. I refused to read it at first because I was ~ too cool ~ to read the same thing as ~ everyone else~. BUT my mom read them and wanted to see the film, but refused to go by herself so she wouldn't seem like one of those weird Twilight Mom fans, and that's when I read them all and was obsessed for a bit. Was the book series you mentioned Night World? That was a big thing for a preteen me. The final book is still not out... It's been 22 years.

I loved those books, and the Vampire Diaries. Then she wrote more after years of nothing and they were awful. I’m ok if the last one never happens!

I never really perceived it like he thought she was stupid! I always assumed he was used to “”regular”” teenage minds (and by regular I mean stereotypically written lmao) so he was surprised that she wasn’t like... too vapid and self-absorbed to be perceptive. And one thing I hated about the books vs the movies (and a lot of what made it seem more “abusive” like behaviors is that the movies sucked out almost all of their banter and humor together. I cried at your commentary on how he wanted her to know but wouldn’t tell her and all I could think is how in grade school kids used to be all 🎶 “I know something you don’t know!” 🎶 lmaooo

NIGHT WORLD SERIES by LJ Smith! All the books have different characters falling for humans and having the forbidden love factor. LJ Smith wrote the original Vampire Diaries before it was given to another author to fit the plot of the show.

I'm coming at this as someone who has barely touched twilight, I almost read it in highschool. So is now suddenly the time when all the people who read twilight when they were younger just decide to up and have a bit of a nostalgia burst and look back at the series

i was like...elbow deep in the twilight youtube crack video community, there are so many jokes and phrases that i have embedded in my brain that none of my friends today understand. (Ex, save a volvo ride a vampire, the parody songs and videos by lolliliciouslolly, the volturi wives, nomoremarbles, etc). its so funny the things that stick with you.

😂😂😂😂 Very funny I felt the exact same thing when I tried to reread twilight again after a few years. I've been about 18 when I first read the books, and I really loved them. And when I read the first book again I couldn't understand why I loved them in the first place 😂😂😂😂 You made me laugh soooo hard here 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

My favorite Twilight memory is when I was watching Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire with my mom and sister. My mom looked at Cedric Diggory and said, "He's really attractive. They should have gotten him to play Edward Cullen." My sister and I laughed for about five minutes straight, unable to explain to my mom why that was so funny.

i clicked on your twilight fanfiction to read it for shits and giggles and old times sakes but just seeing the fanfiction.net website and the character names gave me such voilent flashbacks from my twilight days that i couldnt. other than that i really enjoyed this discussion and i have enjoyed looking at it with a 10 years later perspective too. i'm curious if it would have gotten this big if it was released today. i feel like teens these days are much more aware than i was at 15
