Meh, we're all the same from over there. When I'm watching "Dark" the TV show, I'm like it Norwegian, maybe Swedish, ah, German, sounds about right. Apparently it's shot an hour from Berlin, which seems really nearby, but thinking on it, Europe one hour in any direction could be two countries over (maybe, not sure) www.radiotimes.com/travel/2017-12-01/dark-netflix-location-guide-filming/

Whoa, Anne is based in my home province, the author lived here her whole life and her writing has always featured this province as a key setting. Canada and PEI are so so important to the plot and the author, so it's very different than your example. It is such a small island, Anne is all we have (literally we mainly get tourism/are only known because of Anne, we are left off of maps all the time and forgotten about so much) and we DO NOT take kindly to being called Americans!!

Putting Pride & Prejudice at number one is not controversial. Putting specifically the 2005 version of P&P at number 1 is controversial. Actually, the internet being the internet, you'll probably outrage a great many people regardless of which version you pick.

2005 P&P is my favorite thing ever- as in I keep a DVD at my house, at my boyfriend's house, and have a digital version on my phone/laptop so that if the need strikes, I can watch immediately. the opening scene with the birds chirping and the first few piano notes is just instant relief/comfort also, the young victoria with with emily blunt is amazing, and wickham from '05 P&P plays albert with a german accent. I have a not-so-great relationship with my mother too and it's so cathartic to see her literally become queen and be like peace out, mother

While the 2005 version of P&P was beautifully shot and has a gorgeous soundtrack, I much prefer Keira Knightley in The Duchess and Atonement. (We don't speak of Anna Karenina, she was utterly miscast is that one.) And nobody in this whole world will ever top young Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy, I am sorry, it cannot be done. The BBC P&P mini series is perfection to me. I love the realism and accuracy of their outfits, I love every single casting choice, I love how much they respected the book while still taking a few artistic liberties and inserting some eye candy scenes, I just love the feel of it all. Me and my mum rewatch it every year, I think we both know it by heart at this point. I've known it since I was little, so my bias is evident, but it's my happy place so... a raise of hands, anyone who feels the same? My top 10 or top 20 varies every year, but this one will always stay at no.1.

P&P 2005 is awesome! I love both the film and the BBC series very much (although the film really screwed with Lizzie's parent's relationship imo). For me the best costume drama is North & South with Daniela Denby-Ashe and Richard Armitage. It is perfect and I love it and I will fight anyone who says otherwise. Brooding Richard Armitage is without a doubt the best costume drama romantic lead in the history of all costume dramas. It is BEAUTIFULLY shot, so well acted and I loved it more than the book (which is worth a read, v.good).

Speaking of works inspired by author Lucy Maud Montgomery - check out the Road to Avonlea TV series that Canadians grew up with in the 90s. Stunning. I’m seriously so shook right now, I can’t believe a British person didn’t pick up on the obvious Canadian-ness of Anne of Green Gables... like there are Union Jacks and references to the British Empire in the 19th c schoolrooms....

Parades End and the Bletchley Circle are great too! Pride and Prejudice with Keira is 100 times better than the BBC version don’t @ me. 🥴

Anne of Green Gables is like one of the most iconic Canadian works of literature and it hurt my heart a little to hear you say it was American.

I had the exact same experience with Pride and Prejudice! BAH how could they ruin it like that! I bought the dvd when I was maybe 16 and also probably screamed in horror when that atrocity happened at the end.

Boy I did not expect to get so offended that you said Anne with an E is American lol. Anne of Green Gables is like 90% of our tourism on PEI
