If the pump drive gear doesn't look worn thin. It's fine. They were hit or miss on early XB models. If you're good at 3d printing. I'd like to see a 3d printed pegasus ignition trigger cover.

Personally I’d replace the drive gear… the problem. Is that the way the gear wears you can’t see if there’s any damage for being done unless you physically remove it and inspect it…. The damage only occurs in One Direction and it’s not visible while it’s installed on the bike… speaking from experience. Yes you may have a gotten one of the few that don’t walk but why chance it?

Dude…you should design a 3D cover that is a bulging fist sticking out. Man, that would be real rad like. It would be a statement like “dude, check out this wheeeleee…I can ride them read good!” And like “get out of my way or else!” Yea mang.

It sounded like you were saying that Buells don't suffer from the oil pump drive gear wearing thin issue. I was under the impression this was a known issue with pre '07 Buell engines and that the later engines had the bronze drive gear from factory.

In talking things over with "Hammer Dan" at Hammer Performance, it's not entirely a problem. Early Buell's, according to him, did have the problems shared w/ Harley's. However, it was remedied with this setup, and the later models (aft-2007). Additionally, the failures were very rare and easily pre-diagnosed by inspecting the drive gear. Razor-sharp, you gotta problem. Otherwise, it's fine. Hence my decision in this video to stick with what I have. Others may decide to change the drive gear, no matter what, but I can't see any issues with mine - the wear on the teeth is nearly non-existent. I'm not gonna swap it out.

@@kz6fittycent Thanks for that clarification. I guess it's true, you do only hear about the faulty ones. My XB9SX only has 7k miles, so It shouldn't be an issue. I guess I'll add regular inspections to my service list.

How do you not like the translucent thing and have a city-X? My theory was to match the other clear pieces in color.
